Before starting, make sure painted and trim surfaces are protected to avoid scratching during installation process of the items. Use proper surface protection covers and work attire free of dirt and grease.
Caution: Read entire instructions thoroughly before starting. Installation should be performed only by a qualified person. Observe all safety precautions when working beneath a vehicle. Beware of sharp edges. Always wear safety glasses for eye protection.

Some 2001 and later Volkswagen vehicles use A-pillar mount airbags. A-pillar pods should NOT be used on these vehicles.
1. Remove a-pillar trim by locating upper seam and prying outward. Use clean hands and avoid using any type of tool to pry. Once a small opening is created at the pillar top, use some force to release the 4 plastic mounting clips. With a-pillar cover pulled out, lift upwards and remove completely.

Jetta IV, Golf IV Triple Gauge Panel Installation Instructions
Tools Recommended: Radio Removal Keys
1. Prior to installing gauge panel, have all wires and tubing run to gauges and tested. It is recommended that all wires be left long to free workspace behind the panel.
2. Remove radio using radio removal keys. Snap keys in. Pull up and out. With radio hanging out, cover climate controls with a soft cloth to avoid scratches. Push in tabs on side of radio to remove keys.

Getting Started
a) Make sure vehicle is parked on a level surface.
b) Set parking brake.
c) Jack the front of the vehicle and support with properly rated jack stands.
d) Lift the plastic battery cover and disconnect both battery terminals. Remove the short positive lead from the positive battery terminal. (Fig. 1)
e) If engine has run within the past two hours let it cool down.

The AEM Cold Air System is the result of extensive development on a wide variety of cars. Each system is engineered for the particular application. The AEM Cold Air System differs from all others in several ways. We take the inlet air from outside of the engine compartment where the inlet air is considerably cooler than the hot underhood air. The cooler inlet air temperature translates to more power during the combustion process because cool air is denser than warm air. AEM has conducted extensive inlet air temperature studies and we have seen temperature reductions of up to 50 degrees by pulling air from outside of the engine compartment.

The Jetta ushers in two important new features this year, a station wagon and a new, 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder TDI diesel engine. The sedan can also have its front wheels powered by a 2.5-litre 5-cylinder or a turbocharged 2.0-litre 4-cylinder. The Jetta Wagon cannot be ordered with the 2.0-litre turbocharged gasoline engine.
