  • Engaging the YouTube Google-Eyed Generation: Strategies for Using Web 2.0 in Teaching and Learning
  • YouTube, Podcasting, Blogs, Wikis and RSS are buzz words currently associated with the term Web 2.0 and represent a shifting pedagogical paradigm for the use of a new set of tools within education. The implication here is a possible shift from the basic archetypical vehicles used for (e)learning today (lecture notes, printed material, PowerPoint, websites, animation) towards a ubiquitous user-centric, user-content generated and user- guided experience. It is not sufficient to use online learning and teaching technologies simply for the delivery of content to students. A new “Learning Ecology” is present where these Web 2.0 technologies can be explored for collaborative and (co)creative purposes as well as for the critical assessment, evaluation and personalization of information. Web 2.0 technologies provide educators with many possibilities for engaging students in desirable practices such as collaborative content creation, peer assessment and motivation of students through innovative use of media. These can be used in the development of authentic learning tasks and enhance the learning experience. However in order for a new learning tool, be it print, multimedia, blog, podcast or video, to be adopted, educators must be able to conceptualize the possibilities for use within a concrete framework. This paper outlines some possible strategies for educators to incorporate the use of some of these Web 2.0 technologies into the student learning experience. Why should the notion of incorporating Web 2.0 and interacting with for example socially distributed and user-created videos (e.g. from www.youtube.com) be important within education? In what ways has the rapid development of
  • Building a Defensive Perimeter Against Malicious User Input
  • A Word About Secure Database Access Unfortunately, this database access code exhibits insecurities of its own. For example, you should never use the sa account (or an equivalent) to access databases from Web applications. Instead, use weak accounts that lack permission to drop tables, insert, update, and delete records, and the like. In addition, you should use stored procedures or parameterized commands in lieu of dynamic SQL commands for added protection against malicious input parameters. Finally, consider encrypting database connection strings to minimize the risk of information disclosure if your source code falls into the wrong hands. And note that truly paranoid ASP.NET programmers encrypt connection strings and store them in ACLed registry keys. When it comes to Web security, a little paranoia can be a good thing. Don't bother looking for syntax errors: functionally, this page is just fine. Type your name into the input field and click the "Click Me" button, and a personalized greeting appears on the page. But security-wise, this page is a disaster-despite the fact that it's similar to countless sample pages found in books, magazine articles, and even the .NET Framework SDK. Give yourself a pat on the back if you spotted the following flaws: • The page neither constrains nor validates user input • It echoes raw, unfiltered user input to the page Download pdf Building a Defensive Perimeter Against Malicious User Input

  • Hyundai Sonata V6 Sedan Manual
  • Hyundai’s latest Sonata has stepped on a few toes in the large car segment. Externally the new V6 is almost identical to its four cylinder sibling –dual tailpipes being the only clue to the extra power. Yes, they share the same attractive Euro style body, but have decidedly different personas. DISLIKES Small front seats Light coloured trim marks easily well shaped, fine for a long trip, and the centre armrest is a welcome bonus. But anyone riding in the middle might feel short-changed by the lack of support. ERGONOMICS Functional and uncluttered, the dash layout is a model of simplicity. Large instruments face the driver, with the high set audio controls just to the left. Three rotary switches look after all of your air conditioning functions. The boot and fuel cap releases are tucked away under the driver’s armrest. Thanks to its large windscreens, front and rear vision is very good, making manoeuvring easy. SAFETY At this stage the Sonata hasn’t received an ANCAP safety rating. However the new bodyshell’s strength has been optimised in the virtual world using computer analysis, and confirmed in reality. Three hundred Sonatas were sacrificed in crash testing during the car’s development. The newcomer’s level of standard safety equipment reinforces its value for money. Dual front and side airbags, are complemented by front and rear curtain airbags. Active front head restraints and front seat belts with load limiters and pre-tensioners complete the package. Primary safety is aided by ABS equipped four wheel discs with Electronic Brake-force
  • SAP Free Reference: Transportation (LE-TRA) Tutorial

  • Disaster Recovery Procedures for Microsoft SQL 2000 and 2005 using N series
  • This IBM® Redpaper gives a example of procedures to restore the Microsoft® SQL 2000 and 2005 using SnapManager®.There are options discussed that depend on the type of disaster, the type of data recovery, and the type of system on which the disaster applies. Recovering a snapshot with SnapManager for SQL The process to restore a SQL database requires DBA skills and knowledge of the SnapManager product. In the SnapManager Administration guide several restore options are described, followed by a step-by-step instruction. This paper does not describe those steps. Restoring a snapshot with SnapManager In this section we discuss the steps taken in a test scenario as executed during a disaster recovery test. Log on to the SQL server (in this case SQL2000 PDC1DB005) with SA_snapdrive and start Enterprise Manager for SQL. 1. Select properties of the database that you want to restore. 2. Set the database in single user mode. 3. Close Enterprise Manager. 4. Stop the (remote) services that connect to the database. Use the process information of SQL Enterprise Manager to find active processes. 5. Start SnapManager for SQL. Depending on what database you must restore (and the sort of backups taken for that database), the procedure may differ. • Google File System PDF Manual
  • Google ABSTRACT We have designed and implemented the Google File System, a scalable distributed file system for large distributed data-intensive applications. It provides fault tolerance while running on inexpensive commodity hardware, and it delivers high aggregate performance to a large number of clients. While sharing many of the same goals as previous distributed file systems, our design has been driven by observations of our application workloads and technological environment, both current and anticipated, that reject a marked departure from some earlier file system assumptions. This has led us to reexamine traditional choices and explore radically different design points. Download Google File System PDF Manual
