  • Static Mesh Pipeline
  • Creating art in a 3D modeling package such as Max or Maya and then trying to get it to work in the Unreal Editor can sometimes be quite a feat, especially if you’ve never done it before. Hopefully this process will provide a basic understanding of the art pipeline for Unreal Ed and answer any questions you may have about getting your static meshes from the 3D package of your choice into the Unreal Editor and into your Mod. First off, what is a static mesh? In Unreal Ed, a static mesh is a piece of geometry that does not have any animations. This is not to say it won’t move in game. A few examples of static meshes would be the decorative piping you see running along walls or ceilings, a tree stump, or even an elevator lift that moves once you step on it. In the case of the elevator lift, it is animated using Matinee, Unreal’s key frame animation system, not an external 3D package such as Max or Maya. For more examples of static meshes, simply hop into Unreal Ed, open up your favorite package and look at the static meshes in there. Note: This tutorial is being created using Maya 2008 as the 3D package of choice. There are slight differences and peculiarities in how you export models from the various 3D packages. • Norton AntiVirus 9.0 for Macintosh User's Guide
  • A computer virus is a parasitic program written intentionally to alter the way your computer operates without your permission or knowledge. A virus attaches copies of itself to other files and, when activated, may damage files, cause erratic system behavior, or display messages. Computer viruses infect System files, or files stored in the System folder that the Macintosh computer uses to start up and documents created by programs with macro capabilities. Mac OS System files include kernel extensions (programs that load into memory when a Macintosh computer is started), and programs like those in Microsoft Office. Some computer viruses are programmed specifically to corrupt programs, delete files, or erase your disk. Macro viruses spread quickly Macros are simple programs that are used to do things such as automate repetitive tasks in a document or make calculations in a spreadsheet. Macros are written in files created by such programs as Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel. Macro viruses are malicious macro programs that are designed to replicate themselves from file to file and can often destroy or change data. Macro viruses can be transferred across platforms and spread whenever you open an infected file. Trojan horses hide their true purposes Trojan horses are programs that appear to serve some useful purpose or provide entertainment, which encourages you to run them. But the program also serves a covert purpose, which may be to damage files or place a virus on your computer. A Trojan horse is not a virus because it does not replicate and spread like a virus.
  • Fiat Bravo/a & Marea - Cleaning the MAF sensor (Diesel engines only)
  • The first step is to locate the MAF sensor. Its position is on the air intake system, after the air filter box. The second step is to unplug the connector on the MAF sensor. It has a clip that holds it firmly in place, so you need to push the clip with your finger to release it. (red arrow) Then just pull the plug off. The third step is to unscrew the two torx security screws. To do that, you will need a trox screwdriver T20. After the screws are out, gently pull the sensor out of his casing. After you have done the above, you will have this on your table. The next step is the cleaning. For that you will need a 3 or 4 cotton sticks and some alcohol. *Use clear alcohol or start spray – do not use any spray or liquid that is oily or greasy. Get the cotton sticks mentioned above and flatten them. So they look like this. *If you don’t do that, they will not fit in the openings. The places that you need to clean are marked whit red arrows. Easier, you need to clean the 2 metal plates and the *resistor. *not sure it’s a resistor, butclean it any way. Download pdf Fiat Bravo/a & Marea - Cleaning the MAF sensor (Diesel engines only)

  • Numeric and Spatial Data Mashups
  • Data visualisation has been defined as: The set of techniques used to turn a set of data into visual insight. It aims to give the data a meaningful representation by exploiting the powerful discerning capabilities of the human eye. Part 1 of this briefing paper will highlight some examples of new collaborative web services using Web 2.0 technologies which venture into the numeric data visualisation arena. These mashups allow researchers to upload and analyse their own data in ‘open’ and dynamic environments. Broadly speaking the numeric data being referred to could be micro-data (data about the individual), macro-data or country-level data, derived or summary data. Part 2 will investigate and showcase examples of spatial (or geographic) data mashups using Web 2.0 technologies and how they can be utilised in a research environment. This paper does not intend to conduct an investigation into the definitive merits of each utility but rather compare the functionality, ‘openness’ and usability of such utilities from the perspective of a researcher willing to share or analyse their data. A word of warning - researchers will have to account for the inconstant nature of the web - resources such as those described above may not be around in two, five or ten years. Not only will there be further advances in web technologies but services merge, are bought out or indeed cease to exist. Services that start off open or free may become ‘closed’. Resources may start up with a particular rationale but may evolve into a completely different
