USB memory sticks Learning Environments user guideThis guide refers to connecting USB memory sticks to computers installed in shared learning spaces at the University of Melbourne. Your office or home computer may not be configured in the way described in this guide.
Connecting USB memory sticks to a PC
1. Locate the USB ports on the front of the PC.
Generally this is located on the front of the PC – exact location differs depending on the model of computer.
2. Insert your memory stick into the USB port.
Accessing your files
You can browse the contents of your memory stick as you would a floppy disc, CD or DVD.
To browse the contents of your memory stick:
1. Double-click the My Computer icon.
2. Double-click the memory stick (E:) icon.
3. Copy the file(s) you want to use to the Put your work in here folder on the desktop.
Removing your memory stick
Remember to correctly eject your memory stick when you have finished using it. Failure to do so may result in the loss of files from your memory stick.
To eject your memory stick:
1. Click the USB device icon on the taskbar (located in the bottom right- hand corner of the screen).
2. Click the Safely remove USB Mass Storage Device – Drive (E:) message that pops up.
3. Remove your memory stick from the PC.

Location of USB ports on Macs depends on the model Mac you are using.
If the Mac you are using does not have an aluminium keyboard, read below for USB port locations on specific Mac models.

After that, open the bonnet and pull off the plastic cap on the shock pad (white arrow). When removed it will look like this. Now take a spanner and a ratchet (6mm alen key) and put them on like on the pics left. When you have done that, just un tighten (1/2 - 1 turns) the nut. To un tighten the nut, hold the ratchet in place and turn the spanner. DO NOT unscrew more than that or take the nut off.
The next step is to unscrew the 3 screws holding the shock to the chassis (3 yellow arrows). Unscrew them, but not completely. Jack the car up, take the wheel off and put the car on a stilt. Using a spanner and ratchet, unscrew the 2 nuts shown by yellow arrows.
When the nuts are off, you are left with 2 screws (white arrows) that need to be taken out. To do so, just push them out in the red arrow direction. Now unscrew the 3 screws at the top (yellow arrows) while holding the shock with your left hand. Warning – when you take out the screws, the shock will drop down.

With the evolution of wireless technology such as mobile phones, the idea to bring these two technologies together gives a new dimension to P2P communication, collaboration and resource sharing.
This master thesis explores the domain of Mobile Peer-to-Peer networking and proposes a Peer-to-Peer System with Wireless Devices. The system is based on an open, protocol-based P2P platform called JXTA. It allows any connected device on the network ranging from sensors and cell phones to personal computers and servers to communicate and collaborate in a Peer-to-Peer manner. It is platform and network independent and designed to be implemented on any networking device.
JXTA for J2ME (JXME) is a lightweight version of JXTA that gives P2P functionality to constrained wireless devices. The technology, which is open source, is under development by the JXTA community, and this thesis focuses on the development of JXME for the Connected Limited Device Configuration (CLDC).
The system proposed uses the JXME API, but suggests a more specific approach to implement different Peer operations such as Peer discovery, resource advertising and file transfer. Because of the limitations of wireless devices, one or more powerful Peers need to participate in the network as Proxy Services. This gives both the advantages of a fixed P2P network and the mobility of a wireless device.
The prototype developed demonstrates the P2P system with simple collaboration and file sharing.
