Features Introduction People have recently been discovering the joy of ever smaller notebook computers. The more compact they are the more comfortable it is to carry them wherever we go. However, the majority of the time we use our notebooks on our workdesk at the office. In this situation, after hours of working, we may prefer a larger display. VTBook is the ultimate solution - it plugs into the CardBus PC-Card slot and allows the connection of high-resolution displays, both digital (DVI) and analog (VGA). Thanks to it´s 32MB of memory it supports even the highest resolutions in maximum color depth (16 millions of colors) with very fast refresh rates to ensure maximum comfort. The display controlled by the VTBook is a true second display. This means that it offers additional display space for your use. You can move and arrange windows from the Notebook´s display to be shown on
  • Client-Server Socket Programming Project
  • This project serves as an introduction to client-server programming. You will be expected to implement an abstract protocol called Simple Registration Protocol using simple TCP socket programming. To illustrate the use of the protocol, you will also implement a concrete application: a simple appointment management system. This application will introduce you to the use of LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL and PHP), a free, powerful and commonly-used combination for Web-based applications. The SRP uses a client-server model where multiple client processes request services from a server using request messages. These requests are answered using reply messages. The SRP includes only one mandatory request message (called REQ) and one mandatory reply message (REP). REQ is sent by a client to the server to indicate a specific application-defined service (e.g. reservation, confirmation, information request). The server responds with a REP message, the contents of which is specific to each type of request. The server should check the validity of each request and should not fail if an invalid request is received. The client follows these three steps to make a request: 1. Establishes a TCP connection with the server, 2. Sends the request to the server, and 3. Closes the connection. If the request is valid, the server 1. Opens a TCP connection to the client, 2. Sends the reply, and 3. Closes the connection. Note that the REQ and REP messages are sent in two separate TCP sessions. The client will close the existing REQ TCP session and wait for the server to open a new TCP session for the REP. Download pdf

  • MySQL Magazine
  • SQLYog Enterprise Edition Version 6.55 Review This software is one of the most popular GUI-based tools for MySQL. Most of the features of the software are geared to help the daily work of DBAs and developers. The software is rich in features and therefore this review will only highlight some of the cool capabilities. Connection to Remote Servers Most companies require you to use the ssh protocol to access their servers. While it is easy to setup your own ssh tunnel to connect to your remote database, it is quite cumbersome to do that. SQLYog allows you to easily do this and lets you save your secure MySQL connection. I use this all the time and I do not even think about ssh tunneling anymore. On the downside, when I tried to connect to another database, the software opened a separate window for me. This made it difficult for me to switch from one window to another. This can be annoying if you want to compare two databases but it could also be a security measure so that you do not accidentally apply the wrong SQL statements to the wrong database. • PCL Printer Control Language Users Guide and Reference Manual
  • AVERY DENNISON PCL is a description language for the AVERY DENNISON PCL printers. PCL allows a user to describe a tag layout to a printer. Also PCL allows a user to send multiple sets of information to a printer. These sets of information will be printed using either a tag layout that was sent to the printer using PCL or a tag layout that is stored on the printer. A tag layout is known as a format. A format contains all the physical descriptions of a tag or label. These descriptions include tag size, sense mark position, field positions, field types, field sizes, etc..., everything the printer needs to know in order to build and print the tag or label. The formats can be sent to a printer using PCL just prior to the information that is to be printed or the formats can reside in the printer. If the formats reside in the printer then PCL is only needed to send the information that is to be printed. The multiple sets of information are known as Batch Data or just Batches. Batches consist of character data sent to the printer in the order specified by the format. This information is plugged into the format and a tag is created. The number of tags to be printed using this information is known as the quantity. The quantity is also sent with the batch data. The following sections in this document explain how to make a format and send it to the printer and
  • x86-64 Buffer Overflow Exploits and the Borrowed Code Chunks Exploitation Technique
  • The x86-64 CPU platform (i.e. AMD64 or Hammer) introduces new features to protect against exploitation of buffer overflows, the so called No Execute (NX) or Advanced Virus Protection (AVP). This non-executable enforcement of data pages and the ELF64 SystemV ABI render common buffer overflow exploitation techniques useless. This paper describes and analyzes the protection mechanisms in depth. Research and target platform was a SUSE Linux 9.3 x86-64 system but the results can be expanded to non-Linux systems as well. search engine tag: SET-krahmer-bccet-2005.
