Microsoft Excel Hints and TipsThe aim of this document is to show you how to make the best use of some of the facilities in Microsoft Excel and, in particular, to save you time when using it. Be aware that we have several other documents on using Excel, including A Beginners' Guide, An Intermediate Guide, plus a host of advanced topics.
Starting Microsoft Excel and Opening Files
Launching Excel via the Start menu and All Programs isn't the most efficient way of doing things; it's much easier to do so from an icon on the Desktop:
1. Open the Windows Start menu and choose All Programs then Microsoft Office
2. Instead of clicking on Microsoft Office Excel 2003, hold the right mouse button down and drag Excel from the Microsoft Office menu onto the Desktop - choose Copy Here
3. Now (and in future) double click on the Microsoft Excel icon to launch the software
You can also place shortcuts to files you are currently working on the Desktop in a similar way - this time (when you drag the file icons from My Documents using the right mouse button) choose Create Shortcuts Here from the pop-up menu. When you have finished working on a file then you can the shortcut (leaving the file itself safe in My Documents). Another feature which makes opening a file easier is to alter the number of documents which feature in the list of recently used files (the list which appears at the foot of the File menu):..

Download Audi A6 Body Repairs Services PDFA Practical Dynamic Buffer Overflow DetectorDespite previous efforts in auditing software manually and automatically, buffer overruns are still being discovered in programs in use. A dynamic bounds checker detects buffer overruns in erroneous software before it occurs and thereby prevents attacks from corrupting the integrity of the system. Dynamic buffer overrun detectors have not been adopted widely because they either (1) cannot guard against all buffer overrun attacks (2) break existing code or (3) incur too high an overhead. This paper presents a practical detector called CRED (C Range Error Detector) that avoids each of these defeciencies.
CRED finds all buffer overrun attacks as it directly checks for the bounds of memory accesses. Unlike the original referent-object based bound-checking technique, CRED does not break existing cde because it uses a novel solution to support program manipulation of out-of-bounds addresses. Finally, by restricting the bounds checks to strings in a program, CRED’s overhead is greatly reduced without sacrificing protection in the experiments we performed.

In order to program with ArcGIS there are two products that you will need to have installed on your computer. First, you must have either ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS ArcInfo or else have the ArcGIS Engine installed. Once these one of these are installed you will be able to run the code you compile in the ArcGIS environment. The other ArcGIS product you need is the Developer Tools for Microsoft.Net that provides access to the .Net framework and the functions that ESRI has made for .Net as well as the Developer tools that install an API for ArcObjects. It is also important to make sure that your software is up to date, which you can do by checking the ESRI website to see if there are updates or service packs for your software (this tutorial was written using ArcGIS 9.2 Service Pack1).
The other major required software is a C#.Net compiler. I recommend using Microsoft Visual Studio, because ESRI has created various resources to make coding faster and easier for that environment. If you are looking for a free compiler you can try using the Microsoft Visual Studio C# Express edition, or the SharpDevelop program which is an open-source initiative. Links to these programs are provided in AppendixMrSID Macintosh Stand Alone Viewer The MrSID Stand Alone Viewer displays images that have been encoded into the MrSID format. Each MrSID image file contains data from multiple resolutions stored in a single pixel database. The MrSID Viewer starts viewing an image at the smallest resolution view, and allows complete control to zoom, pan, navigate and investigate through larger and smaller zoom levels. The Viewer uses Selective Decompression” to decode only the portion of an image necessary for viewing. This makes rapid viewing of large images possible, while maintaining maximum image quality. With the MrSID Stand Alone Viewer, you can also export any part of the image to TIFF at any resolution.
The MrSID Stand Alone Viewer is available at no charge for individual use, so that the largest possible number of people have the ability to view MrSID imagery.
