Ajax on RailsIn a few short months, Ajax has moved from an obscure and rarely used technology to the hottest thing since sliced bread.
This article introduces the incredibly easy-to-use Ajax support that is part of the Ruby on Rails web application framework. This is not a step-by-step tutorial, and I assume that you know a little bit about how to organize and construct a Rails web application. If you need a quick refresher, check out Rolling with Ruby on Rails, Part 1 and Part 2.
Just in case you've been stranded on a faraway island for most of the year, here's the history of Ajax in 60 seconds or less. In the beginning, there was the World Wide Web. Compared with desktop applications, web applications were slow and clunky. People liked web applications anyway because they were conveniently available from anywhere, on any computer that had a browser. Then Microsoft created XMLHttpRequest in Internet Explorer 5, which let browser-side JavaScript communicate with the web server in the background without requiring the browser to display a new web page. That made it possible to develop more fluid and responsive web applications. Mozilla soon implemented XMLHttpRequest in its browsers, as did Apple (in the Safari browser) and Opera.
XMLHttpRequest must have been one of the Web's best kept secrets. Since its debut in 1998, few sites have used it at all, and most developers, if they even knew about it, never used it. Google started to change that when it released a series of high-profile webArcGIS Data Interoperability TutorialWelcome to ESRI® ArcGIS® Data Interoperability extension. This tutorial guides you through some basic Data Interoperability skills. This tutorial is designed to let you explore the capabilities of Data Interoperability at your own pace and without the need for additional assistance. AMBIENT OCCLUSION IN MAYA8 and PHOTOSHOPThis tutorial covers the basics of how to setup and bake ambient occlusion maps in Maya8. The process is similar for previous versions of Maya only the menu names will be different. As with most things in Maya there are probably many different ways to do this but this method works well for me and is reasonably quick to setup.
1. SETTING UP THE SHADER NETWORK
- First open the hypershade window and from the Maya nodes list MMB drag a Surface Shader node into the work area
- Now click on the "Create Maya Nodes" button at the top of the nodes list and change it to MentalRay nodes.
- Then under the textures tab MMB drag an 'mib_amb_occlusion' node onto the work area
- Now connect the 'OutValue' of the Occlusion node to the 'OutColor' of the surface shader. This is the default connection between these 2 nodes so you can do this by simply holding down Ctrl and MMB dragging the occlusion node over the shader node.
2. SETTING UP YOUR SCENE
- In order to get good results from Ambient Occlusion the scene environment must be white. To do this open the Outliner window and select the Persp camera. In the attribute editor under the Environment tab slide the Background Color to 100% white
- Now open the Render Globals window and select MentalRay as your renderer and Production as the quality preset. Now change the multi-pixel filter to "Lanczos".
(this will automatically change your Quality preset to 'Custom' like in the picture)
Download pdfFiat Bravo/a & Marea - How to Renew your Bonnet Pin & LockThis guide will show you how to renew your old existing Bonnet Pin and Lock. Please read this guide through at least once before fitting.
Step 1. (Optional) Preparation prior to fitting
Before you start removing your old parts you may want to consider preventing your new parts from corroding like the existing ones. You could smear a protective oil or grease over the exposed metal and rub it over or you could like myself spray paint the metal parts.
Step 2. Draw around the Bonnet Pin
Open bonnet and secure with the bonnet stay. It is important that you refit your new bonnet pin in the exact same position as the old one, so carefully with a pencil or dry marker, draw around the bonnet pin.
Step 3. Removing Bonnet Pin
Using a ratchet and a 10mm socket, slowly start to unscrew the two bolts holding the bonnet pin to the bonnet. If the bolts are rusty try to use some WD40 to help penetrate the rust.
Step 4. Removing Air Intake Pipe
Carefully remove the air intake pipe over the radiator using the 10mm socket on the three bolts highlighted below.
Step 5. Unhooking the Bonnet Release Cable & Removing Lock Once the air intake pipe has been removed, you should now be able to see between the slam panel and the radiator. Carefully looking between and you’ll see the bonnet release cable. To detach the cable simple put a flat headed screwdriver into the position indicated by the red dot and carefully prise the cable outVirtools Dev User Guide ManualVirtools Dev is an extensive collection of technologies for 3D visualization. The Virtools Dev technologies are broadly grouped as:
1. an Authoring application
2. a Behavioral Engine (CK2)
3. a Rendering Engine
4. a Web Player
5. a Software Development Kit (SDK)
An Authoring Application Virtools Dev is an authoring application that allows you to quickly and easily create compositions (CMOs) full of rich, interactive, 3D content. Industry stan- dard media such as models, animations, images and sounds are brought to life by Virtools’ behavior technologies. You cannot create models in Virtools Dev; Virtools Dev is not a modeling application. However, simple elements such as Cameras, Lights, Curves, inter- face elements, and 3D Frames (called dummies or helpers in most 3D model- ing applications) can be created with the click of an icon.

Download pdf TropicoTutorial: Easy Beads in Paint Shop ProI’m using Paint Shop Pro 8, but I know this feature is still in later versions. Ever tried Balls and Bubbles? They’re fun! Here are the easiest beads (or round candies if you’re so inclined) I know how to make. Start by opening a new raster image of 100 pixels. At 200 dpi this is going to make you a half -inch bead, scale-able as are all your picture tubes. Now go to Effects, Artistic Effects, Balls and Bubbles: When the options box opens, choose the “Gold Ball” preset, and select Single Ball and Maximum possible size.
If you haven’t ever explored the Balls and Bubbles feature you’ll want to come back later and play with all the various presets and make some of your own. Now, you can keep the color or colorize the bead as you wish. I’ll show you how to save as a single tube and also a multiple tube set, so while you’re playing with the colors make about six different ones.

With Premium Maintenance, more maintenance items are regularly checked or replaced than with either Schedule 1 or Schedule 2 maintenance schedules. Using the Premium Maintenance schedule may optimize the performance, reliability, and resale value of your vehicle. SCHEDULE 1 (Every 3,750 miles or 3 months, whichever comes first) Schedule 1 features the same 3,750-mile service intervals as Premium Maintenance; however, with Schedule 1 fewer maintenance items are regularly checked or replaced than with the Premium Maintenance schedule. Use Schedule 1 if you primarily operate your vehicle under any of these conditions: Repeated short trips of less than 5 miles in normal temperatures or less than 10 miles in freezing temperatures Stop-and-go traffic in hot weather or low-speed driving for long distances.
G Driving in dusty conditions or on rough, muddy, or salt-spread roads G G G SCHEDULE 2 (Every 7,500 miles or 6 months, whichever comes first) Schedule 2 features 7,500-mile service intervals; with Schedule 2 fewer maintenance items are regularly checked or replaced than with Schedule 1.
