How and Why More Secure Technologies Succeed in Legacy Markets: Lessons from the Success of SSHSecure shell (SSH) can safely be called one of the rare successes in which a more secure technology has largely replaced a less secure but entrenched tool: telnet. We perform a market analysis to determine how and why SSH succeeded despite the existence of an entrenched legacy tool while similar technologies such as secure file transfer protocols have been far less successful. We show that network externalities, usually a first order effect, were not a significant factor impeding the adoption of SSH, and that SSH offered equivalent functionality and greater ease of use. We argue that these factors were the primary consideration in the willingness to change.
Additionally, we argue that the openness of the standard, which facilitated the creation of numerous compatible implementations, was a key element in the economic decision made by system administrators. Since the early commercial and later open source versions in the mid 90s, the tool, created as a replacement for telnet and the rsh/rlogin/rcp trio, has become the method of choice for remote login and X tunneling and is a rapidly becoming one of the most pervasive applications for encryption technology outside of embedded systems, particularly after being freed from RSA related patent complications [Bertrand99].

These inputs can be individually selected in software.
For more advanced digital or analog system triggering or digital I/O lines, you can use the IMAQ 1426 and NI-IMAQ with the National Instruments data acquisition (DAQ) or motion control product lines.

You may need your Windows CD in the server drive before you can do this. Once completed, IIS is installed. You will now need to refer to IIS documentation to start configuring it to your requirements.

Helm will control IIS 5 or 6 on the control server or any remote server. Although IIS will be controlled by Helm with no additional configuration, there are some alterations that should be made to the global IIS settings to take advantage of everything Helm has to offer. HDHomeRun System Requirements
HDHomeRun for Mac requires the following minimum system configuration:

• A Macintosh computer with 500 MHz G4 or higher processor (dual-processor G5 or Intel Core Duo recommended for playing HD content.)
• Mac OS X version 10.4 or higher
• 512 MB of RAM
• Internet connection required to use the integrated electronic program guide (not available in Canada).
• A CD/DVD recorder and Toast Titanium (version 7 or 8) software is required to create DVDs, SVCDs or Video CDs. (not included)
Open and Unpack Box
Your HDHomeRun package contains the following items:
• HDHomeRun digital TV tuner
• EyeTV 2 software and PDF documentation on CD-ROM
• An Activation Key sheet, with two EyeTV 2 activation keys (inside the case for the CD)

• AC power adapter
The HDHomeRun can be installed anywhere you have convenient access to your antenna/cable connections and an Ethernet network connection. It does not have to be installed near your computer.
