  • Implementing Mobile Web 2.0
  • This document outlines a chapter in the book Implementing Mobile Web 2.0 by Ajit Jaokar published by futuretext (Feb 2009). It is released separately as a stand-alone chapter. Here, we discuss the role of the next generation SIM (Subscriber Identity Module) card, referred to as SCWS (Smart card web server) SIM within Mobile Web 2.0. To explain the background, this document includes other sections from the book so that it becomes as complete document in itself. Synopsis and key ideas The key ideas behind this chapter are: • Web 2.0 has already evolved to Cloud computing. • Inspite of the notion of a ‘Web only’ processing, the cloud needs a client (as is now apparent from the deployment of a browser like Chrome from Google). • For a mobile ecosystem, there are two possibilities for a Cloud client; The device or The SIM since both are at the edge of the network(for simplicity we discuss a cellular network only i.e. not Wimax, WiFi etc) • From a network Operator perspective, the SCWS SIM offers a possibility to be the client for the mobile cloud for reasons that we discuss in this chapter. • The SCWS SIM technology also offers the possibility of accessing mass market devices. Notes: 1) This chapter is written from a Telecom Operator perspective. There are other implementations of Mobile Web 2.0 which are non Operator specific 2) We use the term SCWS technology to refer to Smart Card Web Server technology and SCWS SIM as the next generation SIM card incorporating SCWS technology Web 2.0 and Mobile

  • The x24 camera integration kit is designed to demonstrate the features of the VS6×24 single chip camera module. The camera integration kit consists of a baseboard and a plug-in board, containing a VS6×24 device in a socket package. Figure 1 shows the base board with the socket plug-in attached. Software is provided which allows easy demonstration of the available features. An external interface allows access to the camera data and control signals, allowing the user to pass video data directly to their application. The user will be able to control the camera through the USB 2.0 interface, or through their own application. Initially, the camera must be set up using the USB 2.0 interface, after which the camera can be used in conjunction with both the USB 2.0 interface and the user’s application, or with the user’s application as a stand alone module. • The Ten Minute Guide to Setting Up a Linux File Server with Samba
  • One of the common requirements in a Linux-based network is to include Linux workstations. There are a multitude of ways to do so; if this network also includes Windows workstations that are connecting to the Linux file server, you're likely already using Samba. This document describes how to have a Linux workstation access data on a Linux file server via Samba. Here's a quick tutorial to the essential steps involved in setting up a Linux File Server and having Linux workstations connect to it, using Fedora Core as an example. Why Samba? Although I've already explained that this paper is covering the connection between a Linux workstation and a Linux server using Samba, some folks may be wondering about the choice. "After all, Samba is used for connecting Windows and Linux machines. It's not necessary if you're just connecting Linux machines." This is true; there are ways, such as NFS, to accomplish this without Samba. However, this paper is based on the scenario that your network has Windows (and possibly Mac) machines as well, and thus the server already has Samba installed. In this situation, connecting Linux workstations to the server is relatively simple. How file serving works on Linux In Linux, the same general concepts apply. You create users and groups, assign users to groups, and then assign permissions to directories according to groups. The specific mechanisms work somewhat differently, of course. On the server, you'll use software called Samba that provides the functionality of serving files to users (much like Apache serves Web

  • Installing Ubuntu Linux “Feisty Fawn” Server Version 7.04 Screenshot
  • We want you to install Ubuntu and set up the network manually entering in your fixed IP address, your correct host name and domain. In addition we will manually partition your file system. We will still create the same file system as you would get with an automated install, but in the real world you may need to understand how to create your own file system layout. After the Initial Install We will install the Ubuntu Desktop meta package (Gnome 2.18 and Xorg) as well as properly configure this to work with your particular hardware by installing the xserverxorgvideo intel package. Before we do this we’ll do a number of other exercises as well. You will specify a user name and password of your choosing. One of the exercises will include creating a user named “admin” and a password we’ll specify in class. If you have questions during installation ask your instructor or an assistant. Installing Ubuntu Step 7 If you can press “Cancel” in time please do so, otherwise see the screen in Step 8 and choose to “Go Back” to manually configure your network. Step 14 The hostname is what you should have on your first page of this installation guide. And, remember to use lowercase characters. Step 16 Your machines likely already have partitions on them. If this is the case you need to delete each individual partition first, then you can create partitions. Here is a sample of deleting
  • Plotting Data with Microsoft Excel
  • Here is an example of an attempt to plot parametric data in a scientifically meaningful way, using Microsoft Excel. This example describes an experience using the Office X version for Macintosh. The details may change with different versions, but the principle stays the same – the author must control the appearance of all aspects of the figure. We cannot count on programmers to have correctly guessed our intended use of the application. If you find that it is just too awkward to prepare a proper figure using a computer program, then do it by hand. If you use a hand drawn graph do keep in mind its purpose. If it is to be a working document, not to be presented or published, then you may want to make it as large as you can, ignoring margins, for maximum accuracy. For a paper or presentation, just keep the figure well within the margins of your sheet of graph paper, since the purpose is to illustrate the result, not to use the graph as a working document. You don't need to fill up all available space. If you submit a manuscript for publication or conduct a formal presentation, then you will probably have to prepare a computer generated figure. PROGRAM DEFAULT Table 1 represents measurements of heights of tree seedlings as they were allowed to grow. If you haven't much experience plotting with Excel you might want to open a new spreadsheet, enter the data, and follow along with the example. The data were

  • The best way to protect the fetus is to protect the mother. When a safety belt is worn properly, it’s more likely that the fetus won’t be hurt in a crash. For pregnant women, as for anyone, the key to making safety belts effective is wearing them properly. Right Front Passenger Position The right front passenger’s safety belt works the same way as the driver’s safety belt. See “Driver Position” earlier in this section. Air Bag System This part explains the air bag system. Your vehicle has air bags — one air bag for the driver and another air bag for the right front passenger. Frontal air bags are designed to help reduce the risk of injury from the force of an inflating air bag. But these air bags must inflate very quickly to do their job and comply with federal regulations. Here are the most important things to know about the air bag system..
