ASUS Ai Booster User Guide ManualThe ASUS Ai Booster is an innovative application that allows overclocking of system components in Windows® environment. This utility lets you overclock the CPU either manually or automatically without the hassle of entering the BIOS Setup. NOTE. Ai Booster supports Windows® 2000/XP/2003 operating system. Installing Ai Booster The Ai Booster application is included in the support CD that came with your motherboard package.
To install the Ai Booster: 1. Place the support CD into the optical drive. The Drivers installation window appears if your computer has an enabled Autorun feature. 2. Click the Utilities tab, then click Ai Booster. 3. Follow the screen instructions to install. Launching Ai Booster To launch Ai Booster, click Start > All Programs > ASUS > AI Booster > AI Booster. The Ai Booster interface appears. If Autorun is NOT enabled in your computer, browse the contents of the support CD to locate the file AIBooster.exe from the Utilities folder. Double-click the AIBooster.exe to start installation. After launching the application, the Ai Booster icon appears in the Windows® taskbar. Right-click this icon to close or restore the Ai Booster interface. Ai Booster interface The Ai Booster features a user-friendly interface similar to a car dashboard.
The interface displays various auto-detected system component information allowing you to quickly assess, and if desired, change the overclock settings. Only the textures required to display the current scene are held in RAM. When new textures need to appear in the scene, they are loaded from a larger and slower repository, or they are dynamically generated.
For example, textures can be pulled from disk into system RAM or downloaded from system RAM into the video RAM of a 3D accelerator. Textures can be dynamically generated by combining illumination maps with unlit source textures. QUAKE was one of the first games to implement a texture caching system that interacts closely with the 3D pipeline to cache graphics in an efficient manner (see References). DOOM cached textures as well, but its system was more of a solid- state approach, as was the data caching scheme in the 2D side-scroller ABUSE. The source code to both ABUSE and DOOM is now available; see the References at the end of this article. This article is broken into two parts. First, we’ll discuss the nature of texture maps and the issues involved in implementing a texture cache. Then, we’ll look at some concrete implementations of caching systems used in games that are currently under development.
Textures and MIP-mapping
Texture storage is all about MIP-maps. MIP-maps are prefiltered versions of a texture map stored at varying resolutions. To simplify this discussion, we will focus on MIP-maps that are square and are a power-of-two in width (1×1, 2×2, 4×4, ). One of the most important sources of vulnerabilities in Web 2.0 is the inadequacy of access and authorisation frameworks used in Web 2.0 environments. In particular, this report highlights problems in policy frameworks governing the separation of control between web applications. These centre on the ‘same-origin’ policy, which sandboxes web applications coming from different domains, and the cases where this policy is either deliberately relaxed or circumvented for malicious purposes. Problems in access and authorisation frameworks often stem from the difficulty in finding a balance between allowing enough freedom for Web 2.0 applications to function and providing adequate security.
Web 2.0 has also brought a sea-change in the way knowledge and information is managed. One page contains content and even executable code from multiple sources including end-users, and information may be syndicated (eg, using RSS) and altered many times from its original source.
