  • Examples of Common Queries
  • Here are examples of how to solve some common problems with MySQL. Some of the examples use the table shop to hold the price of each article (item number) for certain traders (dealers). Supposing that each trader has a single fixed price per article, then (article, deal- er) is a primary key for the records. Start the command-line tool mysql and select a database: shell> mysql your-database-name (In most MySQL installations, you can use the database named test). You can create and populate the example table with these statements: mysql> CREATE TABLE shop ( -> article INT(4) UNSIGNED ZEROFILL DEFAULT '0000' NOT NULL, -> dealer CHAR(20) DEFAULT '' NOT NULL, -> price DOUBLE(16,2) DEFAULT '0.00' NOT NULL, -> PRIMARY KEY(article, dealer)); mysql> INSERT INTO shop VALUES -> (1,'A',3.45),(1,'B',3.99),(2,'A',10.99),(3,'B',1.45), -> (3,'C',1.69),(3,'D',1.25),(4,'D',19.95); Download pdf Examples of Common Queries

  • Comparing Java, C# and Ada Monitors queuing policies
  • Concurrent programming is still challenging and difficult. “Since concurrency techniques have become indispensable for programmers who create highly available services and reactive applications, temporal dimensions of correctness introduced by concurrency, i.e., safety and liveness, are central concerns in any concurrent design and its implementation” [Lea 98]. And without expert guidance and concurrent design-pattern description, they're expected to occasionally fail. Thus providing significant examples and paradigms for teaching good and correct style is of prime importance. Learning concurrency paradigms is necessary but it is not sufficient. The choice of the run-time semantics must be known since it may introduce subtle design and programming errors. It is the aim of this paper to exemplify the importance of process queuing and awaking policies (whether processes are named threads or tasks) resulting from possible choices of the monitor concept implementation. The languages Java, C# and Ada implement the monitor concept [Hoare 1974]. Several possible monitor concurrency semantics have been used in the past and a classification is presented in [Buhr1995]. Every implementation provides mutual exclusion during the execution of a distinguished sequence (synchronized method in Java, lock in C#, protected object subprograms in Ada) using a lock for every object. The semantics differ in the chosen policies for blocking, signalling and awaking processes. The Java policy uses explicit self-blocking and signalling instructions. It provides “wait()”,“notify()” and “notifyAll()” clauses with a unique waiting queue per encapsulated object (termed “synchronized”). A self-blocking thread joins the waiting queue and releases the object mutual exclusion lock. A notifying thread wakes up

  • Microsoft Cuts Off Access To Old Documents
  • Tucked in with the many security updates (and the restoration of one's ability to paste text from a web page into a Word document!), a very interesting modification to the Office 2003 software waits quietly for installation with Service Pack 3. Unbeknownst to the user installing this “Pack 3”, their Office software is about to be imbued with a runaway power: the cutoff of access to your old documents. With the blink of a 117 MB download (and an even lengthier installation process), Office users will no longer be able to open files in 24 older file formats. That means users – citizens, government employees, small business owners, etc. – will not be able to open their own documents saved in file formats used by Corel (Wordperfect), Lotus, and most versions of MS Office products before 2000. Instead, users will see the not-so-user-friendly statement below: "You are attempting to open a file type that is blocked by your registry policy setting." When a user attempts to open one of these older files, they will receive the above in a dialog box and no alternative actions are given to help users get access to their information in these “blocked” files. When pressed for answers regarding this change, Microsoft eventually admitted that their action was in response to concerns with their parsing of Office 2003 code that presented a risk, but only after they suggested the move was in response to security concerns with the files themselves. Microsoft continues, in our view, to erroneously maintain that

  • Windows Genuine Advantage (WGA) Crack pdf article
  • Windows Genuine Crack, Complete with a Microsoft apology The Windows Genuine Advantage crack is done and over with. Simply water under the bridge. 12,000 Windows Vista and Windows XP impacted customers and 20 hours of erroneous invalidations the past weekend’s WGA cracks is now complete with a Microsoft apology. The Redmond company revealed at the end of some three-four days worth of investigating that the WGA lapse was generated by a human error. Nothing more and nothing else than the preproduction code being accidentally (!) sent to production servers and managing to impact both Microsoft’s activation and validation aspect of the general anti-piracy mechanism. Alex Kochis, Senior Product Manager for Windows Genuine Advantage revealed that the preproduction code was taken down in less than 30 minutes by rolling back all changes introduced, but that its effects ripped through the WGA validation process from August 24 to August 25 incorrectly labeling genuine copies of Vista and XP as pirated. “For the customers who failed validation from Friday afternoon through Saturday morning the experience was that features we refer to as ‘genuine-only’ features were disabled. These features are Windows Aero, Windows ReadyBoost, Windows Defender (in this state Defender will scan and identify all threats it would ordinarily, but will only clean ones marked ‘severe’) and Windows Update (in this state only ‘optional’ updates are unavailable, all others can still be downloaded, including security updates). Also a desktop message appears in the lower right hand corner of the desktop area. The message reads ‘This

  • Guide to Cataloging DVDs Using AACR2r Chapters 7 and 9
  • This section provides a general overview of DVD technology. Topics covered include a brief history, a comparison of DVDs with compact disc (CD) technology, the different types of DVD that are currently available, and a glimpse at the future of DVDs. History DVDs were first developed in 1995 through a consortium of ten companies: Hitachi, JVC, Matsushita, Mitsubishi, Philips, Pioneer, Sony, Thomson, Time Warner, and Toshiba. These companies formed the DVD Consortium, which in April 1997 became the DVD Forum. The mission of the forum is to promote the worldwide acceptance of DVD products across the entertainment, consumer electronics and IT industries. In early 2000, membership in the DVD Forum reached some 230 companies and organizations that are engaged in DVD research, development and/or manufacturing. Although DVD once stood for “Digital Video Disc” or “Digital Versatile Disc,” DVD now simply stands for DVD. DVD types DVD-A (DVD-Audio) — Equivalent to an standard audio CD which uses Pulse Code Modulation (PCM) for recording sound, except that it holds some seven times the information of a regular CD. DVD-V (DVD-Video) — What most people think of when referring to the DVD. Usually used to store video recordings. DVD-R (DVD-Recordable) — A write-once data storage disc that is similar to CD-Rs. It can record around 4.7 gigabytes, and is used mainly for the archiving of information and the storage of video recordings. DVD-RAM (DVD-Re-writable) — An erasable, re-recordable version of the DVD-ROM. Provides random access to its 4.7 gigabytes of recorded information, and is best suited for use in computers.
  • HowTo – Create an Encryption-Plugin for Cryptool 2.0 using Visual Studio 2008
  • This document is dedicated for the developer of a plugin for the e-learning program Cryptool 2.0. It describes step-by-step how you can create a new plugin in VS2008. How this can be done is described in this document, building a sample plugin which delivers the functionality for a “new” encryption algorithm. The new plugin contains the according encryption code and offers its functionality to the Cryptool application using the interface “IEncryptionAlgorithm” from the CrypPluginBase. Additionally it delivers the according controls (like buttons, text boxes) and information to the TaskPane (icon, caption, descriptions). Please be aware that the Cryptool 2.0 project is under development. Therefore, the screenshots in this document might represent the latest state of the project. However, we aim to provide a documentation and screenshots that can always guide you through the first steps on the development of a Plugin. If you anyhow detect a screenshot or description that does not lead you to success, we appreciate your feedback. Please visit the Cryptool project website (www.cryptool.org) to get in touch with us.
