  • Epson Stylus RIP Users Guide Manual
  • The Epson Stylus RIP software lets you use your Epson Stylus Color or Epson Stylus Photo ink jet printer as a PostScript 3 (Macintosh, Windows 2000, and Windows NT) and level 2 (Windows 95 and 98) compatible printer. It reads the Adobe PostScript files automatically created by the Epson Stylus RIP printer driver, seamlessly converts them into raster images, automatically prints them on your printer. You can use the Espon Stylus RIP with both Macintosh and Windows systems, in standalone or networked configurations. Adobe Post Script is the industry standard for high-quality graphic output. All the elements in a document - including text, graphic, and other images - are processed and reproduced using Post Script code. Then, when you print from an application such as QuarkXPress, the RIP software creates a raster image from the PostScript code and send it to your printer. Do you need PostScript? In many cases, you may not need the ability to print in PostScript, and for these occasions you should use the standard, non-PostScript driver that comes with your printer. Using the standard driver is also a good way to ensure that your computer and printer are connected and working properly, so make sure you install the non-PostScript Epson driver following the instructions in your printers setup documentation. • How to use PDFlib products with PHP
  • This document explains various possibilities for successfully deploying PDFlib as a PHP extension. The generic term PDFlib is used to designate one of the following distinct products: > PDFlib Lite, the open-source subset of PDFlib > The commercial PDFlib product > PDFlib+PDI, a commercial superset of PDFlib which also contains the PDF Import Library (PDI) > PDFlib Personalization Server (PPS), a superset of PDFlib+PDI with advanced block filling features for personalizing PDF documents. Notes for PDFlib TET (Text Extraction Toolkit), PDFlib PLOP (Linearization, Optimization, Protection), and PDFlib pCOS (PDF Information Retrieval Tool) are included where appli- cable. The methods for deploying any of these products as a PHP extension are the same in all cases. However, only one product of the PDFlib family can be used at a time. Similarly, multiple versions of these products cannot be deployed at the same time. Different products can coexist within one PHP installation, however. Note that the evaluation versions of commercial PDFlib products will be fully functional, but will display a demo stamp across all generated PDF pages unless a valid license key is applied. This document applies to the following software versions: > PDFlib 7.0.4 and PDFlib 6.0.4 > TET 3.0, PLOP 4.0, and pCOS 2.0 > PHP 4.3.x, 4.4.x, 5.0.x, 5.1.x, 5.2.x, and 5.3.x Where applicable, version-specific information is provided separately. • Microsoft: Silverlight More than a Flash
  • Microsoft gives a name to its Flash-killer technology. The technology formerly known as WPF/E is now known as Silverlight. Microsoft has given a go-to-market name for its cross-platform, cross-browser plug-in for delivering the next generation of user experiences and rich Internet applications for the Web. The technology formerly known as WPF/E is now known as Silverlight. Microsoft announced Silverlight at the National Association of Broadcasters conference in Las Vegas on April 16. The NAB announcement highlights Silverlight uses for media users. The software company will announce further details about the technology at its own Mix07 conference, which starts at the end of April and runs through May 2 in Las Vegas. Forest Key, a director of product management in the Microsoft Server and Tools Division, said Silverlight integrates with existing Web technologies and assets to provide higher quality experiences with lower costs for media delivery. In a briefing with eWEEK, Key demonstrated how Silverlight offers consistent experiences to both Mac and Windows users on a variety of browsers, including Internet Explorer, FireFox and Safari. As for which platform Silverlight will support next, Key said, "Linux is an open question. We're looking at the desktops and browsers by volume. We want to put muscle behind supporting the bulk of the market." And Linux support is still under discussion, he said. Silverlight uses WMV (Windows Media Video), Microsoft's implementation of the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers VC-1 video standard, ensuring compatibility with the millions of hours of content already available on the Web. • Using Python
  • Python was created by Guido van Rossum in 1990 to solve problems in the development of the Amoeba operating system. It is named after the British television show Monty Python’s Flying Circus. The use of Python has grown steadily over 1990’s to its current state where it is used in a variety of applications and environments. Python is a interpreted, imperative, weakly-typed programming language. Unlike a compiled language, interpreted programming languages do not have to be compiled. Instead, the source file is translated (a.k.a. interpreted) by another program (the interpreter) when it is executed. Compiled languages, on the other hand, are executed directly by the computer. Since Python is a weakly-typed language, a variable can have different types during a program’s execution. For example, the variable a could represent a number, a string, and a list in succession in Python; this is not allowed in a strongly-typed language. These notes assume a basic familiarity with programming concepts. In general, it is assumed one has had some programming experience in an object oriented language (such as C++). Concepts such as compiling, functions/procedures, dynamic memory, conditional statements, input/output, modular programming, namespaces, classes, objects, and inheritance should be familiar. The examples in these notes will be given in Python 2.4. It is assumed that the reader has access to a a Python interpreter. The resources at the end of this document provide links to downloadable versions of the languages. Outline These notes will start with the basic foundations of an imperative programming language and build towards object-oriented design.
  • First Hibernate example using Java
  • This tutorial shows a simple example using Hibernate. We will create a simple Java application, showing how Hibernate works. Hibernate is a solution for object relational mapping and a persistence management solution or persistent layer. This is probably not understandable for anybody learning Hibernate. What you can imagine is probably that you have your application with some functions (business logic) and you want to save data in a database. When you use Java all the business logic normally works with objects of different class types. Your database tables are not at all objects. Hibernate provides a solution to map database tables to a class. It copies the database data to a class. In the other direction it supports to save objects to the database. In this process the object is transformed to one or more tables. Saving data to a storage is called persistence. And the copying of tables to objects and vice versa is called object relational mapping. Download pdf First Hibernate example using Java
  • Web 2.0: Building Online Communities Using Social Networking Technologies
  • Over the past three years, Internet web sites have been evolving into a series of platforms organizing content and communications among individuals and organizations for the purpose of social networking. Sites like MySpace, YouTube and Wikipedia have shifted online activities from “browsing” to collaborating, interacting and personalizing. MySpace boasts over 100 million accounts, YouTube serves an average of 100 million video streams per day and Wikipedia contains over 1.7 million articles in English edited by users from all over the world. As a result, web design and organizational thinking in this new era needs to be more focused on building event-driven experiences, rather than simply designing information silos ammended with numerous hyperlinks. But how do consumers and businesses keep up with these changes and more importantly how do they exploit the new technologies in ways that benefit customers, employees, and even their industry? This issue of Educational Update is designed for that very purpose. WEB 2.0 Technologies Web 2.0 is the collection of server-based solutions that have allowed the web to become a publishing platform. Instead of the traditional one-way form of web authoring, these solutions invite all Internet users to share, collaborate, and contribute in the process of website development. Users now have an increased ability to contribute text, bookmarks, photos, audio, videos and more to many different websites. This ease of access to web content alters the way users interact with the new world wide web. Users can now build an online social network where community members contribute content, share
