Download ManualWhat does Web 2.0 have to do with databases?Web 2.0 is a buzzword we have been hearing for over 2 years. According to Wikipedia, it hints at an improved form of the World Wide Web where technologies such as weblogs, social bookmarking, RSS feeds, photo and video sharing, based on an architecture of participation and democracy that encourages users to add value to the application as they use it. Web 2.0 enables social networking on the Web by allowing users to contribute content, share it, rate it, create a network of friends, and decide what they like to see and how they want it to look like.
In this panel, we propose to explore what Web 2.0 has to do with databases. Among the questions we will ask are: Are we going to be building new kinds of databases with Web 2.0? What does it mean when 1 million people are building a database as a collaborative effort? What is a new notion of schemas and queries that we need to develop for such scenarios? The main point of controversy is that while some people think that Web 2.0 requires a new data management infrastructure, others view it as a great opportunity to integrate many ”small” distributed databases which store users and content. We finish the panel by asking the question: Are there databases we can build now that could not be built earlier because we have mass collaboration?

Download manualMicrosoft Office 2003 Word Tutorial pdfMicrosoft Word is an essential tool for the creation of documents. Its ease of use has made Word one of the most widely used word processing applications currently on the market. Therefore, it’s important to become familiar with the various facets of this software, since it allows for compatibility across multiple computers as well as collaborative features. Word is a fairly simple program to use for completing simple tasks. However, it may be more difficult to learn how to explore the more advanced possibilities of Word.
Opening Microsoft Word: To run Word on your computer: “Start” >> “Programs” >> “Microsoft Office” >> “Microsoft Office Word 2003.” If there is an icon of Microsoft Word available on your desktop (shaped like a square with a “W” in the middle), you can open up the program by double-clicking it, as well.

Only the textures required to display the current scene are held in RAM. When new textures need to appear in the scene, they are loaded from a larger and slower repository, or they are dynamically generated.
For example, textures can be pulled from disk into system RAM or downloaded from system RAM into the video RAM of a 3D accelerator. Textures can be dynamically generated by combining illumination maps with unlit source textures. QUAKE was one of the first games to implement a texture caching system that interacts closely with the 3D pipeline to cache graphics in an efficient manner (see References). DOOM cached textures as well, but its system was more of a solid- state approach, as was the data caching scheme in the 2D side-scroller ABUSE. The source code to both ABUSE and DOOM is now available; see the References at the end of this article. This article is broken into two parts. First, we’ll discuss the nature of texture maps and the issues involved in implementing a texture cache. Then, we’ll look at some concrete implementations of caching systems used in games that are currently under development.
Textures and MIP-mapping
Texture storage is all about MIP-maps. MIP-maps are prefiltered versions of a texture map stored at varying resolutions. To simplify this discussion, we will focus on MIP-maps that are square and are a power-of-two in width (1×1, 2×2, 4×4, ). We will speak of a MIP-mapCommunication plugin tutorial for 3dsMaxHere is a small tutorial that will get you started with AWB communication plugin. The communication plugin is a powerful tool that let you import your 3dsMax animation into a World Builder landscape. You can see your animation with shadow and reflection, and now you can even see the World Builder trees shadow casting on the 3dsMax objects.
Here is how it work...
First you need to create a communication object in World Builder. In World builder, click on: Create4Communication Object4Max Communication Object (figure 1). This will create a communication object that you will use later to import your objects from 3dsMax. From the Create menu, select camera to create a new World builder camera if you wish to use a camera from World builder.
Second, if it is not started yet, you will need to start 3dsMax. The new communication plugin is no longer located in the Utilities section but in the Rendering/Environment menu. From 3dsMax, click on Rendering4Environment, to open the Environment dialogue box..

Students who do not have a copy of Word installed can not view the documents. When a person without Word left-clicks on the link to the word document, they will be prompted to download the doc as a file. If they figure out how to download it and then try to open it, they will be presented with several unfriendly looking windows asking them how to open the file. This is more than enough to scare off the average student.
Fortunately, there is an easy way to make Word convert documents into web friendly HTML pages. HTML pages can be viewed in any modern web browser and students do not need Microsoft Word™ to view them. This document covers creating a web friendly Word document, converting the word document into a web friendly HTML file, and uploading that file to a Blackboard Vista course.
A guide to creating web friendly Word documents
Most basic word documents translate very well into web friendly HTML files with little to no modification, but there are a few guidelines that it helps to follow while writing the Word doc.
Some Word elements translate easily into web pages. Try to use these elements to format your pages as much as possible. Elements that work well for the web include:
• Alignment (left, right, centered).
• Bold and italics. Try to avoid using underline if possible.
• Font size and color.
•
