  • Toshiba Qosmio G30 Review pdf
  • When Toshiba first introduced its Qosmio sometime in ‘04 it made headlines as being in the front of notebook technology. Now their third-gen model, the G30 has come to our fair shores and we’re looking at good old Quosmio style with the latest in Intel power. As with past models, the G30 offers one of the best 17-inch wide-screen displays around, a double-layer DVD drive, and an integrated TV tuner, as well as a full complement of ports and connections, a rocking set of stereo speakers, and an unparalleled set of multimedia controls. Now while most of these features are nothing bright sparkling new to us, what you’ll get on the vast majority of systems is a very highly watered down version. The Qosmio offers true multimedia performance with a bang. If you’re looking for a full-featured digital entertainment system that’s still somehow portable, the G30 leads the pack. Seriously speaking, the G30 is a very big laptop, even for a mobile graphics cum multimedia workstation. The keyboard has large, firm keys, much akin to what a normal desktop would have, albeit with some keys being re-positioned to optimize space usage. Above the keyboard resides the most complete set of system and A/V controls we’ve seen on a laptop. Interesting points include dedicated controls for display brightness, video signal in and out, and Dolby Home Theater Download Toshiba Qosmio G30 Review pdf

The laser cutters can do many things, like cut and engrave (or score). There are some tips for preparing your laser files in AutoCAD at the end of this document. For more information on approved materials the laser cutters can cut and score please refer to the “Laser Resources – Materials and Suppliers” document. General safety information is contained in the “Laser Resources – Materials and Safety” document. During this tutorial we will be using AutoCAD to print to the laser cutters. There will soon be more tutorials for other programs that will allow raster engraving, like Photoshop. This is a PDF, so you don’t need to print it!! The first few steps of this tutorial involve setting up your AutoCAD file and these steps must be completed on your own. Time is precious and this should not wait until you are logged onto the TBH computers. The first step is to prepare your file by making two new layers, a layer named “Cut” and “Score”. The laser printer uses settings files based on color; it assigns a certain power and speed setting to certain colors. The settings that have been created for the laser plotters are this; The “Cut” color is RED (index color 1) and the “Score” color is GREEN (index color 3). So place the lines you wish to cut your material with on the cut layer (red), and
  • Securing Web 2.0: Why Security 1.0 is no longer enough
  • If you share your photos on Flickr, you are an active user of Web 2.0. If you have a Facebook or MySpace page, download video from YouTube, subscribe to RSS feeds, or use Wikipedia, you’re also participating in Web 2.0. Web 2.0 describes a new generation of the web, designed around content created by users. High-tech industry people describe Web 2.0 sites as “collaborative”, “participatory and interactive”, “personalized”, or “community-driven” because these sites enable people to go beyond simply reading content provided by others. People can proactively share their interests and ideas with other site visitors. Blogs, podcasts, dating sites, social and business networks, and mashup sites combining data from multiple sites are all part of Web 2.0. This is in stark contrast to Web 1.0 – still what most sites represent – where the content is created by the site owner and offers little or no opportunity for the site visitor to enter into a dialogue or add their own content. Online banking, e-tail stores, and most corporate web sites are examples of the Web 1.0 world. Web 2.0 also let you navigate through sites in different ways that can provide a more participatory experience through rich, interactive text and image displays: • drop down menus that might appear anywhere on the screen • fly over or pop-up windows • rollover images that change when you move the mouse over them • dynamic scrolling menus All these features enable you to interact with the web site far more than the click-boxes, buttons, and hyperlinks of the

  • Pro Web 2.0 Application Development with GWT Excerpt
  • When I quit my day job in the summer of 2006 to bring an idea of mine to life as an Internet startup, I was faced with a huge number of questions and not a lot of clear answers. The excitement of starting a new project was soon tempered by the difficulty of choosing among the dizzying array of possible technical platforms and solutions. While the shelves were full of books focusing on each of the components of a web application, what I really wanted was a look at how all the pieces fit together. Too often, I found books that seemed like annotated versions of Javadocs, with helpful explanatory notes that setEnabled(boolean enabled) would set the enabled flag. At the other end of the spectrum were abstract architectural tracts that might have made for good reading but certainly didn’t give me a head start on the architecture. I wanted to see how these technologies worked when used for nontrivial applications; I wanted to see ugly problems and their solutions—I wanted a look at the source code of a modern web application. For those of us who learned HTML and JavaScript by using the View Source option, there’s nothing like getting your hands on working source code. So I had an idea: what if I created a company, a real, functional company, with a modern web site and then gave you the keys to the castle to go poke around? That’s the goal of this book, to give you the tour of
