  • VDO Gauges / VW Vehicles Gauge Solution Installation Instruction Manual
  • Jetta IV, Golf IV Triple Gauge Panel Installation Instructions Tools Recommended: Radio Removal Keys 1. Prior to installing gauge panel, have all wires and tubing run to gauges and tested. It is recommended that all wires be left long to free workspace behind the panel. 2. Remove radio using radio removal keys. Snap keys in. Pull up and out. With radio hanging out, cover climate controls with a soft cloth to avoid scratches. Push in tabs on side of radio to remove keys. 3. Remove storage bin by pulling straight out. 4. Install center gauge into panel using standard U brackets included with most aftermarket gauges. If your 2 1/16 gauges did not come with mounting brackets, fabricate some, or order the standard brackets. Tighten center gauge tight by hand. Over tightening gauge will cause panel to bend. 5. The outer mounting brackets must be modified to install the triple gauge panel. There are two ways to modify the brackets to secure the panel. As illustrated to the right, you can simply use the outer leg of the mounting bracket to secure the gauge panel in place. To do this, you will need to cut the outer leg 1/8” shorter than the inner leg, and bend outward to extend beyond the side of the gauge panel. When installing, you will need at least ¼” of slack between the mounting bracket legs and the appropriate ribs along the inside of the center console. If need be, cut the bottom of the legs proportionally to allow enough slack. Similar

  • Why .NET Technology is Important for ERP
  • In the late 1990’s many ERP companies caught the web browser wave, undertaking projects to leverage the Internet and browser technology and even to convert their software to “lite-client” or web “portal” architectures. Unfortunately for some, .NET came on the scene too soon after this major overhaul. When .NET appeared, some were too technically exhausted, or inflexible, or still basking in the glow of their new “Internet-based architectures” to recognize and embrace .NET. Other ERP software companies were and continue to be simply too busy struggling to stay solvent during the devastating one-two-three punch of Y2K, the recession of 2000, and 9/11. They lack the resources to consider the complete restructuring of their products that .NET warrants. While Microsoft struggles to explain and market .NET, the changes at its core represent the biggest shift in software technology since the dawn of Microsoft Windows. .NET is the second shoe to fall in the Internet revolution, portending a whole new computing model emphasizing not just superficial trading of web pages, but cooperating and collaborating systems. For ERP vendors and their customers, .NET spells the future of enterprise software applications. And, as we will explore in this whitepaper, .NET technology points to a future that demands ERP software companies rethink and rewrite their base architectures. The Right Place, the Right Time: Accepting the Challenge In 1998, Intuitive Manufacturing Systems was a 4-year-old ERP company, following the industry leaders, investigating “lite-client” architectures and tools to move their ERP package into the Internet age. Intuitive’s investigation turned up

  • Bosch L-Jetronic Fuel Injection Guide FIAT Fuel Injected Engines
  • In 1980 FIAT introduced a Bosch multiport fuel injection system in its vehicles. Introduced first on California-bound vehicles and, by 1981, on all U.S. vehicles, the Bosch system improved the performance, efficiency, reliability, and quality of engine operations. Solely responsible for a 23 horsepower increase on the 2 liter engines, this system, known as Bosch L-Jetronic, was popular not only on FIATs but on nearly every European car produced in the 1980's. The L-Jetronic was the first mass-produced, fully electronic fuel injection system. Prior to L-Jetronic, mechanical fuel injection systems had proven that directly injecting atomized fuel into the cylinder resulted in better engine operation. Combining this direct injection theory with electronic sensors, valves, and meters - all controlled by a central computer - resulted in better operation than before. The basic operation is straightforward. An engine is basically an air pump, drawing mixed fuel and air into the intake manifold, compressing it (followed by a spark-triggered explosion), and expelling it through the exhaust manifold. In a fuel injection system the entire operation is based on the amount of air entering the system. The engine pulls air through an air filter and into an air flow meter. The air flow meter measures the amount of air entering the system. Once measured, the air flows into a large hose that is connected to the intake manifold (a plenum). The intake manifold has a throttle plate that is connected to the driver's foot (the accelerator pedal). The position of this plate determines how much
  • Small Gamut User Guide
  • Page 1 What is Small Gamut? Small Gamut Inks are actually colour inks but the size of the “gamut” or colour range is dramatically smaller than that of a full colour ink set such as the standard inks from Epson, Lyson etc. What are the advantages? Black and White printing using full colour inks is virtually impossible because the printer has to make up a neutral grey from a perfect balance of cyan, magenta and yellow. This perfect balance is extremely hard to achieve resulting in colour shifts across the grey spectrum. Small Gamut inks enable black and white images to be printed without these colour shifts. The base colours in a small gamut set are far less vivid than their full colour equivalents. This means that when these colours combine, a monochrome effect is easily achieved. Is Small Gamut easy to use? Yes. Changing over from a full colour set to Small Gamut is a simple process. Simply follow the directions on the instruction leaflet included with your cartridges. Working with the inks is also veryeasy. ICC printer profiles have been written for the most popular printer/ paper combinations. These ensure smooth graduations and an even tone throughout the printed density spectrum. And don’t worry if you haven’t got the full version of Photoshop. Photoshop 3/4/Elements/LE will still work perfectly well with the Small Gamut inks when used with an Epson Stylus Colour 860 or 1160, traditionally the most popular printers for Small Gamut users. Photoshop also makes it easy to introduce subtle colorations to your

  • A Genetic Programming Tutorial
  • The goal of getting computers to automatically solve problems is central to artificial intelligence, machine learning, and the broad area encompassed by what Turing called “machine intelligence” (Turing 1948, 1950). In his 1983 talk entitled “AI: Where It Has Been and Where It Is Going, machine learning pioneer Arthur Samuel stated the main goal of the fields of machine learning and artificial intelligence: “[T]he aim [is] … to get machines to exhibit behavior, which if done by humans, would be assumed to involve the use of intelligence.” Genetic programming is a systematic method for getting computers to automatically solve a problem starting from a high-level statement of what needs to be done. Genetic programming is a domain-independent method that genetically breeds a population of computer programs to solve a problem. Specifically, genetic programming iteratively transforms a population of computer programs into a new generation of programs by applying analogs of naturally occurring genetic operations. The genetic operations include crossover (sexual recombination), mutation, reproduction, gene duplication, and gene deletion. Analogs of developmental processes are sometimes used to transform an embryo into a fully developed structure. Genetic programming is an extension of the genetic algorithm (Holland 1975) in which the structures in the population are not fixed-length character strings that encode candidate solutions to a problem, but programs that, when executed, are the candidate solutions to the problem. Programs are expressed in genetic programming as syntax trees rather than as lines of code. For example, the simple expression max(x*x,x+3*y)is represented as shown in Figure 2. The
