A Fast Track Guide to ASP.NET - Chapter 1Microsoft's .NET technology has attracted a great deal of press since Beta 1 was first released to the world. Since then, mailing lists, newsgroups, and web sites have sprung up containing a mixture of code samples, applications, and articles of various forms. Even if you're not a programmer using existing ASP technology, it's a good bet that you've at least heard of .NET, even if you aren't quite sure what it involves. After all, there's so much information about .NET, that it's sometimes hard to filter out what you need from what's available. With new languages, new designers, and new ways of programming, you might wonder exactly what you need to write ASP.NET applications.
That's where this chapter comes in, because we are going to explain exactly what is required, and how we go about using it. The aim is to get you up and running, able to write simple ASP.NET pages as quickly as possible, and give you a solid grounding in the basics of the new framework. This will not only benefit existing ASP programmers, but also people who haven't used ASP, including Visual Basic programmers who need to write web applications. ASP.NET makes the whole job much easier whatever your skill set.
So, in particular we are going to be looking at:
- Installing and testing ASP.NET
- The benefits of the new technology
- The basic differences between ASP and ASP.NET
- The new programming model
- The rich hierarchy of server controls
We start with the simple discussion of why ASP.NET has come about
DownloadAn R/S Interface to the MySQL DatabaseMySQL is a mid-size, multi-platform RDBMS popular in the open source community. Some of its advantages include high-performance, open source, and free for non-commercial use. For a detailed discussion and tutorial on using relational databases with R (and hence S) see [4]; for more details on importing/exporting data into R see [5], for S-Plus see its User’s Guide. For details on obtaining and installing the software described here see the Appendix.
The R/S MySQL interface allows multiple connections to one or more MySQL servers simultaneously (up to 100 connections). Although each MySQL connection can only have one open result set (open query) at a time, this is not a serious limitation since we can very easily clone connections (see Section 4 for details). All functions described here are documented on-line – simply use help(MySQL), for instance, to read all the details.

It provides high speed and high quality transmission. The TA supports two analogs and one digital port. The two analog ports act like two regular telephone lines, which can be connected to regular telephone, answering machine, fax and modem products. Also, the TA can provide flexible functions like: supplementary service, call screening, speed dial and global call function to meet user’s requirements.
The digital port with the RS232 link can be connected to PC to support data communication with remote site. It supports many protocol selection such as V.110, V.120, X.75, X.25 on D channel, PPP (Point-toPoint Protocol), MLPPP (Multi-Link PPP), BACP (Bandwidth Allocation Control Protocol) / BOD (Bandwidth On Demand) function. With the MLPPP, the entire 128k ISDN bandwidth can be used to access the Internet. The BOD function can utilize dynamic bandwidth demand under MLPPP connection. Under MLPPP data connection, the TA will automatically release one B channel for voice communication when the user picks up the phone to make a call and returns to two B channels for MLPPP when the phone hangs up. With the BACP function, the 128k capacity of ISDN can be utilized fully. The TA is equipped with channel bundling feature which allows the user to use both B channels to maximize the 128k bandwidth for data transmission. The TA complies with ITU-T Q.921, Q.931 for D channel protocol, and provides switching type selectionsProxima Desktop Projector 9260 Desktop Projector 9240 Users Guide ManualDesktop Projector 9260/9240, you are probably eager to try out your new projector. But proving that adversity can be the path to enlightenment, following the dot-com crash in late 2001 a new, stronger Web emerged. And unlike its predecessor, the new Web lived up to its name – sites became sticky hubs of interactive content, constantly changing and morphing based on the wants and needs of its visitors. Today, the technology that enables Web 2.0 is merely the vehicle, the transport mechanism from point A to point B. It is the user – those members of the particular web community – who ultimately drives the destination.
Unfortunately, malicious software (malware) has also evolved. And just as technology has been replaced by users as the driving force behind web sites, the computer is no longer the ultimate target of the malware – it is the user that is the target. Today, malware is almost single-purposed: to gain access to the user’s private, financial, and confidential information. To gain that access, malware authors exploit the very thing that makes Web 2.0 so successful – the user’s trust.
Modern Web sites bear little resemblance to their predecessors. Today’s websites feature dynamically changing content delivered through a steady stream of user contributions, RSS feeds and third-party advertising. Commerce is increasingly the goal, with a large portion of active sites engaged in affiliate relationships, direct sales, or some other form of monetary gain.

Overclocking is about running your computer faster than the standard speed; you can run all of the key components faster than their factory settings – CPU, VGA card, motherboard & memory. Overclocking can significantly boost game performance and even simple desktop tasks, meaning more performance from your system for no extra money. When building a PC, some people will deliberately choose components which are known to have better overclocking ability, so that they can benefit from greater system performance. Can it damage my system? Yes, but its unlikely. Generally speaking, when computer hardware is pushed beyond its limits, it will crash, lock up, or show other obvious erro long before it gets to the point where system components might be damaged. The exception to this is if extreme voltages are used when attempting to overclock. Key elements of basic overclocking When overclocking a computer, the processor, system memory and motherboard all have
