  • KVM Switches Buyers Guide pdf
  • Keyboard/video/mouse (KVM) switches are a necessary accessory for server rooms, lab environments, Help desks, and any place multiple computers exist and space is limited. Antiquated manual switches have given way to intelligent devices, which boast new features that increase reliability and productivity. system. Another feature you might want to consider is the KVM switch’s ability to pass a high-resolution video signal without signal degradation. With so many KVM choices available, you can narrow your options by deciding how many devices you need to switch among, how many concurrent users you need to connect (and the distance of those users from the main console), and the maximum video resolution you’ll use. Most devices employ programmable hot keys for switching, but make sure that the device you select has at least one key sequence that doesn’t conflict with another function in your organization. If you need to support many systems, you’ll most likely need to cascade multiple KVM switches. In that case, look at how clean the cascading process is for both implementation and operation. In addition to the device’s features, you need to consider form factor, cable quality, and ease of use.. Download KVM Switches Buyers Guide pdf
  • Importing Data from Microsoft Access into LISTSERV Maestro
  • The purpose of this white paper is to demonstrate how to use the ODBC driver plugin with Microsoft® Access® database files. This allows LISTSERV® Maestro to use Access databases as a data source, making it possible to have LISTSERV Maestro extract data directly from an Access database [3]. The ODBC driver plugin is a special database plugin that allows recipient information or drop-in content to be pulled from any ODBC data source. The ODBC driver plugin can be used in the recipient wizard with the “Select Recipients From a Database” recipient type [1]. It can also be used in the target group wizard with the “LISTSERV Maestro Retrieves Recipients from Database” target group type [3] to retrieve recipient information from an ODBC data source. Additionally, it can be used to create drop-in content elements by retrieving content information from a database [1]. ODBC drivers exist for many applications [5], making a wide range of data available to LISTSERV Maestro for recipient retrieval or drop-in content definition. By connecting directly to an Access database, you can use any standard SQL statement to extract data. You can even use the Access tools and wizards for constructing your query and testing it within Access. Then, by switching from Design View to SQL View, you can copy the SQL statement from Access and paste it in to LISTSERV Maestro. • AutoCAD® LT 2006 Tutorial
  • In order to become effective in using a CAD system, we must learn to create geometric entities quickly and accurately. In learning to use a CAD system, lines and circles are the first two, and perhaps the most important two, geometric entities that we need to master Copyrighted the skills in creating and modifying. Straight lines and circles are used in almost all technical designs. In examining the different types of planar geometric entities, we can see that triangles and polygons are planar figures bounded by straight lines. Ellipses and splines can be constructed by connecting arcs with different radii. As we gain some Material experience in creating lines and circles, similar procedures can be applied to create other geometric entities. In this lesson, we will examine the different ways of creating lines and circles in AutoCAD® LT 2006. Download PDF for AutoCAD® LT 2006 Tutorial

  • This tutorial explains how to export a 3D Studio Max scene from 3DS Max version 3. Before you start this tutorial, ensure you have installed the Virtools Exporter plugin for 3DS Max. The Scene in 3DS Max Load the sun_room scene located in the scenes folder for this tutorial into 3DS Max. When the file is opened it may indicate that certain textures are missing. If so, simply find the path to the textures in Map_RT. Here is what you should see: Activate Display, Polygon Counts - you will see that the scene contains 474 faces. Note a certain number of specific characteristics before exporting this set: - The vertex lighting: Select the wall_Small object, for example, and you will see the attributes of the Vertex Download Exporting a Simple Scene from 3DS Max to Virtools Tutorial
  • Optical Character Recognition A Technology Driver for Neural Networks
  • Over the last several years, computing systems based on adaptive learning with fine-grained parallel architectures have moved from obscurity to front-page prominence. These systems derive some of their novel architecture from ideas gleaned from biology, hence the name "neural network". Although many of the ideas behind this field are not new, improved computing hardware, better understanding of learning algorithms, and limitations of traditional approaches have combined to renew interest in neural nets. The ultimate success of electronic neural networks will depend on their effectiveness in solving real-world problems. Therefore it is important to choose realistic benchmarks as a focus for research in algorithms and hardware for neural-network computing. Optical character recognition (OCR) of handwritten digits is such a benchmark problem: it has a clearly defined commercial importance and a level of difficulty that makes it challenging, yet it is not so large as to be completely intractable. We have demonstrated that a neural net can perform handwritten digit recognition with state-of-the-art accuracy. The solution required "automatic learning" and generalization from thousands of training examples, and also required designing into the system considerable knowledge about the task — neither engineering alone nor learning from examples alone would have sufficed. The resulting network is well-suited for implementation on workstations or PCs, and can take advantage of digital signal processors (DSPs) or custom VLSI. • Creating a Poster in Microsoft PowerPoint
  • This handout will guide you through setting up a poster in PowerPoint, inserting text and images, and preparing the poster for printing. Creating your document A poster created in PowerPoint usually consists of a single slide. Launch Microsoft PowerPoint. PowerPoint will automatically open a blank presentation. To resize the slide, select Page Setup from the File menu. In the dialog box that pops up, select Custom under Slides sized for: Then enter the width and height of your poster, in inches. PowerPoint will automatically set portrait or landscape orientation based on the measurements you enter. The maximum size PowerPoint will allow for a slide is 56”. If you want your poster to be bigger than 56”, create it at half size and then print it at 200% scale. In this example, the desired poster size is 96” wide by 36” high, so it is designed at 48” by 18”. Inserting poster elements Insert text and graphics as you normally would in PowerPoint. Remember that if you are designing your poster at half the printed size, everything on your poster will also be half the printed size. So, if you want your title to be 1.5” high (108 pt), and you are designing your poster at half size, set the font to 54 pt. Inserting a PowerPoint slide You can insert a PowerPoint slide into your poster by saving it as an image. 1. In PowerPoint, select the slide you would like to place. 2. Select Save as from the File menu. Download pdf Creating a Poster in Microsoft PowerPoint
  • Introduction Starting AutoCAD
  • In this first tutorial you will learn how to start AutoCAD, save a drawing, and a range of common drawing commands. Start AutoCAD by clicking on the Windows Start button (bottom left), then move the mouse to Programs then CAD and Modelling then "AutoCAD Architectural Desktop 2" and click on AutoCAD Architectural Desktop 2. A dialog giving various startup options will be displayed. Select the second option: "Start from Scratch" and click OK. Once AutoCAD has loaded, move the mouse around until you see a crosshair cursor. The AutoCAD window has a number of important features: 1. The standard Windows drop-down menus. 2. The standard Windows toolbar below the menus, it includes: File-New, File-Open, File-Save, Print and "Find and Replace"(!!). 3. In addition to the standard toolbar there will be a number of AutoCAD specific toolbars: Object Properties, Draw and Modify (there may be others...?). 4. The graphics area - that's the area where you draw-note the scroll bars and the axis label. 5. View Tabs - these 'tabs' give access to different view of the current drawing. The "model" tab should be selected at present. 6. The command area - this small window (by default) has space for three lines of text - this is where you type commands. 7. The status area, at the bottom of the AutoCAD window, this includes the current cursor position. Download pdf Introduction Starting AutoCAD
