Make the installation package executable: # chmod a+x fsav-srv-4.52.XXXX 3. Execute the package: # ./fsav-srv-4.52.XXXX 4. The installer asks for the license key. Enter the key code to continue, leave blank and press to continue for evaluation of the product or press CTRL-C to cancel the installation. 5. The installer asks some questions. Press ENTER to accept the default value for each question. After the installation, type “fsav –version” to verify that the installation was successful. The output should show product, scan engine and database versions. 2. Detailed Installation Instructions F-Secure Anti-Virus for Linux is installed by executing the installation package as root or regular user and answering questions asked by the installation program. Here are step-by-step instructions for the installation: 1. If you want to make system a wide installation of F-Secure Anti-Virus for Linux, you must run the installation as root . $ su 2. Make sure that the installation package is an executable and execute it. 3. Enter the keycode. 4. Select the installation directory. The default directory is displayed in brackets. To select the default, just press enter. Where would you like F-Secure Anti-Virus to be installed [/opt/f-secure/fsav]? 5. Select if you want to create a symbolic link of fsav to a directory in the system path. If you answer yes , the installation program creates a symbolic link for fsav from the
  • Designing and Implementing the Chuck Programming Language
  • ChucK re-factors the idea of a computer music language into three orthogonal basis components: unit generator connections that are data-flow only, globally consistent ”first-class” time control, and sample-synchronous concurrency. The syntax, semantic, and usage have been discussed in previous works. The focus and contributions of this paper are (1) to examine the philosophies and decisions in the language design (2) to describe ChucK’s implementation and runtime model, and (3) to outline potential applications enabled by this framework. We present an experiment in designing a computer music language ”from scratch” and show how things work. We hope these ideas may provides an interesting reference for future computer music systems. If Human Computer Interaction (HCI) research strives to give people greater and better access to using the computer, then perhaps computer music language design aims to give programmers more natural representation of audio and musical concepts. Machines have advanced to a point where system design no longer depends on blazing performance, but can focus foremost on flexibility and how users can interact with the system. On today’s machines, ChucK [10] is a real-time audio programming language that offers potentially worse performance than languages such as SuperCollider [4], Nyquist [2], Max/MSP [6], Pure Data [7], CSound [9], and other systems [5, 3]. But it still runs comfortably in real-time for many tasks and, more importantly, offers something unique: a fundamental and flexible programming model to manipulate time and parallelism. ChucK is strongly-timed, concurrent, and embodies a do-it-yourself spirit. It combines the conciseness of high-level computer music

  • Integrating Existing Software Toolkits into VO System
  • Virtual Observatory (VO) is a collection of interoperating data archives and software tools. Taking advantages of the latest information technologies, it aims to provide a data-intensively online research environment for astronomers all around the world. A large number of high-qualified astronomical software packages and libraries are powerful and easy of use, and have been widely used by astronomers for many years. Integrating those toolkits into the VO system is a necessary and important task for the VO developers. VO architecture greatly depends on Grid and Web services, consequently the general VO integration route is "Java Ready – Grid Ready – VO Ready". In the paper, we discuss the importance of VO integration for existing toolkits and discuss the possible solutions. We introduce two efforts in the field from China-VO project, "gImageMagick" and " Galactic abundance gradients statistical research under grid environment". We also discuss what additional work should be done to convert Grid service to VO service. Virtual Observatory (VO) is the result of combination of Astronomy and the latest information technologies. VO is driven by astronomical research and education, but is enabled by the latest technical progresses, especially those in computer science and network. One of the final goals of different VO projects from different countries and regions is to setup an International Virtual Observatory (IVO). While, the basic aim of the IVO is to provide uniform resource access to its users. The resources provided by the IVO are all kinds of resources related to astronomical research, education and outreach, including but
  • AutoCAD 2000 in 3D - A Monkish Shot Tower Tutorial Manual
  • This tutorial introduces the concepts and techniques used to build 3D models in AutoCAD 2000. As a vehicle for learning these techniques, we develop a model of a whimsical structure that I have called the Monkish Shot Tower after a group of imaginary Monks who have refined the technology of manufacturing lead shot for firearms, and the like. The tower is designed around the perfect number 7, features an external spiral stair, an elaborate canopy on top, and a hole down the centre. The final structure is illustrated in Figure 1 below. This tutorial will introduce the following concepts and techniques: • simple solid modelling with solid primitives & CSG operations (the tower); • construction of complex solid objects (stair and landing); • user coordinate systems and positioning of objects (external stairs); • advanced use of the CSG operations (tapering the stairs); • simple surface modelling (the roof canopy and handrails); • surface modelling versus solid modelling (the handrails); • meshed surfaces (the landing “sails” for shading). • AutoCAD 2007 Tutorial Second Level: 3D Modeling
  • As illustrated in the previous chapters, there are no surfaces in a wireframe model; it consists only of points, lines, and curves that describe the edges of the object. Surface modeling was developed to provide the surface information that is missing in wireframe modeling. Essentially, defining the skin of a design creates a surface model. Although it is possible to create a surface model without using a wireframe model, in most cases it is much easier to create a surface model on top of a wireframe model. In surface modeling, a wireframe model can be used to provide information about the edges and corners so that the desired faces can be easily positioned and placed. Surface modeling is more sophisticated than wireframe modeling in that surface modelers define not only the edges of 3D objects, but also the surfaces. Surface modeling provides hiding, shading, and rendering capabilities that are not available in wireframe modeling. Surface models do not provide the physical properties that solid models provide, such as mass, weight, center of gravity, and so on. The AutoCAD surface modeler defines faceted surfaces using a filled polygon. The created faces of surface models are only planar, which means the surface models can only have approximate curved surfaces. It is important to note that the AutoCAD surface modeler does not create true curved surfaces. To differentiate these two types of surfaces, faceted surfaces are called meshes in AutoCAD. Because of the use of faceted approximation on true curved surfaces, the computer requirements of
