The Convertible’s body also impresses as being much stiffer than some other convertibles, with a pleasing absence of scuttle shake over rough surfaces. Installing the Component
It is recommended that you make a backup of your database structure before installing the 4D Ajax Framework component.
1 Open your 4D database with 4D Insider
2 In the menu bar select Components -> Install/Update...
3 In the resulting dialog select the 4D Ajax Framework component (.4CP file) found in the installer’s “For 4D 2004” folder and click the Open button.
4 When installation completes quit 4D Insider.

4D Ajax Framework makes use of the 4D Pack plugin when serving its web pages. If you already have a “Plugins” folder next to your structure, simply copy the 4D Pack plugin into this folder. Since the transfer syntax for sending messages to objects is strictly defined, it is possible to exchange requests and replies between processes running program written in arbitrary programming languages and hosted on arbitrary hardware and operating systems. Target addresses are represented as Interoperable Object References (IORs), which contain transport addresses as well as identifiers needed to dispatch incoming messages to implementations.
Interfaces to remote objects are described declaratively in an programming language-independent Interface Definition Language (IDL), which can be used to automatically generate language-specific stub code.
It is important to stress that:
• CORBA objects are abstract entities seen by clients and represented by artifacts in potentially arbitrary, even non-OO languages. These artifacts are called servants in CORBA terminology.
• CORBA objects achieve location transparency, i.e., clients need not be (and generally are not) aware of the actual target hosts where servants reside. However, complete distribution transparency is not achieved in the sense that clients would not notice a difference between a local function call and a remote CORBA invocation. This is due to factors such as increased latency, network error conditions, and CORBA-specific initialization code in applications, and data type mappings.

Color Correction
Photoshop allows you to easily correct problems in color quality and tonal range created during the original photography or during the image’s scan. You can also correct problems in composition and sharpen the overall focus of the image. Retouching techniques vary greatly depending on how the image will be used. There is also much to be understood about image resolution. For more information about image resolution you should refer to the Photoshop manual or attend the Academic Computing Services workshop Graphics Formats and Scanning.
Color correction tools
All Adobe Photoshop color correction tools work basically the same way: by mapping existing ranges of pixel values to new ranges of pixel values. The difference between the tools is the amount of control you have.
For example, the Brightness/Contrast command (found in the Image>Adjust menu) makes the same adjustment to every pixel in the selection or image. Therefore, if you increase the brightness value by 30, 30 is added to the brightness value of every pixel. For more specific control of that, however, Photoshop provides the Levels menu that allows precise adjustment using the variables of highlights, shadows, and midtones. The Curves menu replaces high-end color correction systems and lets you isolate 16 ranges of pixel values between pure highlight and pure shadow.
