Lubrication condition: unlubricated and also oiled). For cadmium-plated screws or nuts (µ total = 0.08 to 0.09) the tightening torque with screw material at the same level of utilization ca. must be 30% less than shown in the table.
The values specified in this table apply to all screw connections conforming to the aforementioned conditions. Not applicable when using a different surface or lubricant condition on the thread, or if the height of the nut differs. Not applicable to necked-down bolts, self-tapping screw connections or to connections between parts made of different materials. Important! Maintaining specified tightening torques is vital for performing repair work to a professional standard. This presupposes that the torque wrenches required for this are subjected to a regular inspection. This work started out simply and grew into more complex applications, such as file sharing, print sharing, and e-mail, then grew to distributed computation across a group of networked machines. Generally, these tasks were born from the needs of a single user or developer, and evolved over time through a standardization process or by momentum into a de-facto standard to the point where different computers, from different vendors, running applications writtenCyrillic languages support in LATEXMost Latin-based European languages were supported in LATEX by introducing the T1 font encoding and by using the fontenc and inputenc packages; these use only standard TEX means to support any 8-bit input encoding and this one standard font encoding. The restriction to a single font encoding guarantees that multiple languages can happily coexist in one document (e.g., hyphenation will be correct for all languages).
Starting with the December 1998 Release, LATEX finally supports Cyrillic languages. This support is based on the new standard Cyrillic TEX font encodings—T2A, T2B, T2C, and X2. The first three of these satisfy some basic requirements for LATEX T* encodings, and thus can be used in multi-lingual documents with other languages based on standard font encodings. The reason why we need four different Cyrillic font encodings is that these font encodings support all the Cyrillic languages that have been used during the twentieth century (see Section 4)! The number of Cyrillic glyphs is large, so they cannot be represented with 128 character slots; the other (lower) 128 slots are reserved for Latin letters and other invariant symbols that are needed for the encoding to be a conformant LATEX T encoding.
There are some glyphs in the T2* encodings which do not yet have associated characters in Unicode, the world-wide character standard. Also, one more font encoding, T2D, is planned for a forthcoming release of LATEX. A lot of Cyrillic input encodings are already supported (see Section 5), and additional encodings could be added easily.

EJB's 101 DamnationsThis is the tale of 101 Damnations. Sadly, it's no Disney story - in fact it's more likely to have been pulled from the pages of the Brothers Grimm. Whilst writing the EJB modules for our JGenerator product, we started punting an email back and forth containing all the issues we had with EJB. And there were many. Before we knew it we ended up with 101 howlers. In this article we present an edited version of the email. It isn't a complete list and there may be some overlapping issues. If there is enough interest we will turn it into a more formal analysis.
Before you flame us for chasing after your sacred cow with a big stick, all three of us have belonged to the "pro-Java" lobby since Java was in its first beta, and we still do. We have evangelised Java at every company we have worked at. However, EJB just presents so much that is wrong and messed up that we felt we had to speak out.
The 101 issues are divided into the following categories:
