  • Building the Avanade® Software Lifecycle Platform using Visual Studio 2005 Team System
  • Why build a Software Development Lifecycle solution based on Visual Studio Team System? Avanade has over 2500 solution developers worldwide focused on the .NET platform that work with customers to integrate Microsoft technologies in heterogeneous enterprise IT environments. As we execute large and complex projects, building mission-critical applications with geographically distributed teams, we have little room for error - the success of the project depends on how accurately we can estimate and deliver on the engagement. To this end, we are constantly looking for ways to improve consistency and repeatability of our development process and thus increase the productivity of our project teams. In other words, our project execution must be industrialized. Industrialization is about being predictable, repeatable, consistent, and high-quality. The goals for ACA® Lifecycle can be summarized as follows: Provide an easy to provision consistent development environment that facilitates execution of projects across a geographically distributed team. Integrate the development methodology into the development environment. Integrate project management tools with the development environment. Customize the development environment and enact Avanade prescriptive guidance in the development toolset. Visual Studio® Team System (VSTS) offers a rich environment for project execution that can be customized to meet the goals outlined above. VSTS provides integrated version control, reporting, work item tracking, process guidance, and automated build capabilities. Our approach is to use VSTS as the foundation upon which to build the Avande software development lifecycle asset. Figure 1 shows an overview of ACA® Lifecycle. • C# Tutorial for Mobile Device pdf
  • This tutorial provides an introduction to coding for mobile devices using C# and Visual Studio. There are many topics to cover, so unfortunately we will not be able to go into much depth in the time available. However, feel free to contact any of the organisers after the tutorial if you have any questions. We are all postgraduate students who completed our undergraduate degrees in computing science at Glasgow, and we are happy to chat about your projects or anything else to do with software development. Topics covered This is a basic introduction to coding C# for mobile devices. However, at the end of the tutorial you should be able to:- • Create a basic GUI application for Windows desktop machines • Create a basic GUI application for Windows Mobile devices • Create your own Dynamic Link Libraries (DLLs) • Link to and use DLLs in your code • Call native Windows API code from inside C# applications It is vital that throughout the tutorial you try to understand the code you are entering and what it does. Please ask about anything that might not be clear in the tutorial text or anything you want more information about. Creating a solution Before we begin coding, we must create a solution in Visual Studio 2005. A solution can be thought of as a meta-project. It can store many sub-projects within it, and is simply a useful way of organising your development tasks. Open Visual Studio 2005 (Start->Programs->Compilers) and select File->New->Project from the menu. A window will appear showing different project types.
  • Hack the Windows Vista Black Screen of Death Article PDF
  • With Windows Vista, Microsoft shifted from the development path of Windows XP wide open to tampering with zero reaction, and has integrated an anti-piracy infrastructure into the platform. In direct correlation with the Windows Genuine Advantage and the Activation mechanisms, Windows Vista will be able to detect and blacklist non-genuine product keys, crack attempts, and identify the expiration of the initial 30-day grace period. The operating system will react to all by moving first into a non-genuine state and then into Reduced Functionality Mode. The reduced Functionality Mode in Windows Vista is the now infamous Black Screen of Death. Just access the images at the bottom in order to make an idea of what the Black Screen of Death is. Essentially, in Reduced Functionality Mode, Windows Vista features no desktop, no Taskbar and no Start Menu. Additionally, the background wallpaper is changed to an immutable shade of black, just so you can understand the source of the Black Screen of Death reference. And on top of it all, the copy of the operating system is flagged as non-genuine, which is simply an euphemism for pirated. Just to be on the safe side, I want to tell you that the Vista copy flagged as non-genuine featured in the screenshots is actually a genuine Microsoft release. Microsoft has made available as a free download Windows Vista Enterprise both as a standalone virtual hard disk image and bundled with Office 2007 Professional in a VHD designed to be integrated with Virtual PC 2007. Both free
  • Basic Cinema 4D abstraction Tutorial
  • Hi, people will find that this tutorial is easier to follow than actually getting Cinema 4D themselves, but common sense will prevail and if you don't have common sense then ask someone that does, anywho, let's begin. (56k beware) Ok, first we are going to look at the Cinema 4D screen itself as there are a number of features that work well with Abstraction, they are numbered and circled in red: 1. This is the Objects Tab, anything in this tab is to with the shapes that are rendered. This is used to create our basic shapes and later, to edit them 2.This is used to edit the structure of our shapes 3. This handily shows us every polygon that makes up the shape, it basically renders a wireframe over the shape. 4. This is the materials area, this allows us to add images and colour to the renders themselves. Ok, now we understand the interface we are using, let us begin. Firstly, we need a shape to play with, go to objects>primitive>sphere and this will render a sphere. We can't do anything yet so lets right click the sphere and click "Make Editable" Now we can start to modify our shape. Now, lets start off with basic modification, to make it easy, we first need to display the wireframe of our sphere, click what I highlighted as number 3 on the interface and then right click the sphere and select "Magnet", this is where the fun begins. • The Insiders Guide to Windows Vista Operating System
  • The Insider’s Guide to Windows Vista ARTICLE DATE: 12.20.06 By John Clyman Windows Vista is here at last. One of the largest software projects ever undertaken, Vista is indisputably a milestone—despite Microsoft’s having abandoned many of its most ambitious goals for the OS and not just for Microsoft but for the entire PC industry. Of course, Vista is not without its skeptics. PC makers say it will require more processing power, graphics capabilities, and memory than is typical of today’s mainstream machines. Software vendors complain that Vista’s vaunted security features are, in fact, locking them out. Users may wonder if it offers enough that’s truly new to be worth the bother particularly given that a number of Vista features and bundled applications are also available for Windows XP. We’ve performed extensive, hands-on analysis of Vista and sorted out the claims to help you decide whether, or more realistically when, to make the move—and to show you what you can expect when you do.—next: The Vista Promise > The Vista Promise Microsoft calls Vista “a breakthrough computing experience.” That’s marketing hyperbole, for sure, but it’s not entirely unfounded. The new OS is far more than Windows XP with a pretty new face. Many aspects of Vista are substantive improvements: stronger security, better built-in apps, networking enhancements, parental controls, and DirectX 10 graphics support, to name just a few. As a whole, Vista feels more evolutionary than revolutionary. That’s not all bad; one of Microsoft’s strengths has been its commitment to backward compatibility,
