  • Implementing a Caching and Tiling Map Server: a Web 2.0 Case Study
  • Modern Geographical Information Systems (GIS) [1] provide a service-oriented architecture for interacting with geographical data sets and related maps. Web-based GIS systems are architected around the same principles as more general Web service systems based on SOAP [2], WSDL [3], and REST. Mirroring the World Wide Web Consortium and OASIS Web service standards-making bodies, the Open Geospatial Consortium [5] defines open standards for messages, XML data formats, and access protocols that are specific to the GIS community. In addition to OGC-based services, there are many companies (such as ESRI and AutoDesk) that provide proprietary, commercial solutions. Services from these various providers are not normally interoperable. The methods of the traditional GIS community have been challenged in the last two years by the emergence of new, lighter-weight approaches towards building clients and integrating data. The availability of Google Maps, Google Earth, Microsoft’s TeraServer, Yahoo! Maps and similar systems has enabled enthusiasts and part-time developers to make highly interactive Web interfaces to these companies’ services and to integrate their maps with local data. Google Maps in particular is an important example of the so-called Web 2.0 development approach [6]: Google has built and maintains a high performance, highly scalable map service (available for free) that has a relatively simple, JavaScript-based programming interface. This simple but powerful public interface to a very complicated service is the hallmark of Web 2.0, since it democratizes the client development process: very little programming skill is required to build custom Web applications and to combine them with data

  • Understanding European DIN Wiring Manual PDF
  • The main fuse and relay panels on most European cars can be found under the hood. On older vehicles, like this BMW, the panel is protected only by a plastic cover. The panels on more recent models do a better job of protecting fuses and relays from the elements. Many older European vehicles are equipped with these bullet-style fuses. The exposed fuse is wrapped around the ends of the plastic or ceramic fuse body. The fuse is held in place and makes electrical contact via the spring-loaded terminals at its ends. This fuse type can be the source of intermittent electrical problems, especially in damp climates. Download Understanding European DIN Wiring Manual PDF
  • JADE PROGRAMMER’S GUIDE
  • This programmer’s guide is complemented by the administrator’s guide and the HTML documentation available in the directory jade/doc. If and where conflict arises between what is reported in the HTML documentation and this guide, preference should be given to the HTML documentation that is updated more frequently. JADE (Java Agent Development Framework) is a software development framework aimed at developing multi-agent systems and applications conforming to FIPA standards for intelligent agents. It includes two main products: a FIPA-compliant agent platform and a package to develop Java agents. JADE has been fully coded in Java and an agent programmer, in order to exploit the framework, should code his/her agents in Java, following the implementation guidelines described in this programmer’s guide. This guide supposes the reader to be familiar with the FIPA standards1, at least with the Agent Management specifications (FIPA no. 23), the Agent Communication Language, and the ACL Message Structure (FIPA no. 61). JADE is written in Java language and is made of various Java packages, giving application programmers both ready-made pieces of functionality and abstract interfaces for custom, application dependent tasks. Java was the programming language of choice because of its many attractive features, particularly geared towards object-oriented programming in distributed heterogeneous environments; some of these features are Object Serialization, Reflection API and Remote Method Invocation (RMI). • The Morrowind Animation Tutorial
  • Welcome, today we will be making this cute little fish come alive. Put the UltimaFish.bmp texture into your Morrowind/Data Files/Textures directory. First make sure that your model has a separate mesh for each body part. Also make sure that none of the body parts have the same name as this will cause major problems. The names are unimportant at the moment so feel free to call them what you like. 1. Position the creature properly. It is to be standing up, and should lie on top of the plane. Select All, and then rotate everything 90 degrees, and then move everything so it sits nicely at the origin. It doesn’t really matter of bits of the creature go underneath the plane. The plane is there to just remind you where the ground in Morrowind will be. 2. The next step is to merge the Root Bone from the file I have provided into your scene. This will give you the necessary Root Bone needed. So go up to File>Merge Select my file Object.max. A merge box will pop up, and highlight Root Bone and click OK. You should now see a yellow diamond at the origin and this is your Root Bone. 2. All good? Great. Now, we are going to use the Bind button and bind parts of the mesh together. Now, remember, one, and only one part of the fish’s body can be bound to the Root Bone. Binding is to make a body part move forward too when another part moves
  • Engaging the YouTube Google-Eyed Generation: Strategies for Using Web 2.0 in Teaching and Learning
  • YouTube, Podcasting, Blogs, Wikis and RSS are buzz words currently associated with the term Web 2.0 and represent a shifting pedagogical paradigm for the use of a new set of tools within education. The implication here is a possible shift from the basic archetypical vehicles used for (e)learning today (lecture notes, printed material, PowerPoint, websites, animation) towards a ubiquitous user-centric, user-content generated and user- guided experience. It is not sufficient to use online learning and teaching technologies simply for the delivery of content to students. A new “Learning Ecology” is present where these Web 2.0 technologies can be explored for collaborative and (co)creative purposes as well as for the critical assessment, evaluation and personalization of information. Web 2.0 technologies provide educators with many possibilities for engaging students in desirable practices such as collaborative content creation, peer assessment and motivation of students through innovative use of media. These can be used in the development of authentic learning tasks and enhance the learning experience. However in order for a new learning tool, be it print, multimedia, blog, podcast or video, to be adopted, educators must be able to conceptualize the possibilities for use within a concrete framework. This paper outlines some possible strategies for educators to incorporate the use of some of these Web 2.0 technologies into the student learning experience. Why should the notion of incorporating Web 2.0 and interacting with for example socially distributed and user-created videos (e.g. from www.youtube.com) be important within education? In what ways has the rapid development of
