From DOS/Windows to Linux HOWTO TutorialLet’s start politically correct. Throughout this document I say “Linux”, but I mean “GNU/Linux”. Good idea: Linux is technically superior to DOS, Windows 9x and even Windows NT. But beware: it might not be useful for you. These are the main differences between DOS/Windows and Linux: • Windows runs Microsoft Office and lots of games; is perceived to be easy to install and configure; is notoriously unstable; performs poorly; crashes are frequent. • Linux runs StarOffice, scores of technical software and fewer games; can be tricky to install and configure; is rock solid; performs impeccably; crashes are extremely rare.
It’s up to you to decide what you need. Furthermore, Linux gives you power, but it takes some time to learn how to harness it. Thus, if mostly need commercial sw, or if you don’t feel like learning new commands and concepts, you had better look elsewhere. Be aware that many newcomers give up because of initial difficulties.

There are three basic types of three-dimensional computer geometric modeling methods: wireframe modeling, surface modeling and solid modeling. The 3-D wireframe models contain information about the locations of all the points and edges in space coordinates. The 3-D models can be viewed from any direction as needed and are reasonably good representations of 3-D objects. But because surface definition is not part of a wireframe model, all wireframe images have the inherent problem of ambiguity.

Customizing Your Gradebook
Successful use of GradeQuick begins with setting GradeQuick features to correspond with your school/district policies or your personal user preferences. Technology coordinators can set global settings for all teachers to use and then allow teachers to further establish their own settings. All features can be set globally by the GradeQuick administrator and then further customized by the individual teachers or the feature can be restricted with the Jackson Software supplemental program called SiteManager. More information on global settings can be found in the Site License notebook.
Please consider setting the following GradeQuick features prior to entering grades in GradeQuick. Keep in mind that as a teacher your technology coordinator/GradeQuick administrator may have already set some of these settings for your use.

Designed originally to support the specification of ASP.NET Web Pages and Web Services in APL, APLScript may also be used outside the Microsoft .NET environment. An APLScript is not workspace oriented (although you can call workspaces from it) but is simply a Unicode character file containing function bodies and expressions. APLScript files may be viewed and edited using any character-based editor such as Notepad or Microsoft Word. APLScript files are compiled by aplc.exe, the Dyalog APLScript compiler.

In order to type Dyalog symbols into an APLScript file, a Dyalog Input Method Editor (IME) is included and automatically added to your working set of IMEs during installation.
There are basically three types of APLScript files that may be identified by three different file extensions.
• .aspx files specify .NET classes that represent ASP.NET Web Pages
• .asmx files specify .NET classes that represent ASP.NET Web Services
• .apl files may specify general .NET classes
Note that .apl files may also be used simply to represent an APL application in a script format as opposed to a workspace format. Such applications do not necessarily require the Microsoft .NET Framework.
