Download Connector Guide pdfSpeedTools Disk Defrag Software for MacOS XThe instructions and explanations in this guide assume that you understand how to operate your Macintosh computer. You should, for example, know how to choose, select, launch, and drag by using your mouse. In addition, you should also understand how the desktop, windows, dialog boxes, buttons and file/folders work within the Macintosh environment. For more information about these items, please refer to your Macintosh User?s Guide.
About Disk Defrag
Intech's Disk Defrag utility is designed to speed up your Macintosh's access to files stored on your hard disks. To do this, the Disk Defrag utility identifies files on HFS+ formatted drives which are stored in more than one place on your drive and rewrites those files so that they form one continuous data stream. This process can dramatically reduce the number of data reads and writes to access your files, thereby significantly speeding up file access related functions. An additional and often overlooked side-benefit is file recoverability in the event of a catastrophic directory corruption of a disk volume. In the event that a disk volume becomes inaccessible due to corruption, a file recovery tool will have a much higher probability of recovering the entire contents of a file if it is physically located in a single place on the disk instead of occupying multiple scattered locations (i.e. fragments).
What is File Fragmentation?
File fragmentation occurs, typically, as a result of the continuous process of creating, deleting and modifying files. When a file is deleted, for example, it leaves a "hole" (i.e. unused space)U132 MAC Driver User Guide ManualThe document helps the user to understand the steps required to bring the device to a functional state . Normalization is the process of removing redundant data from your tables in order to improve storage efficiency, data integrity and scalability. This improvement is balanced against an increase in complexity and potential performance losses from the joining of the normalized tables at query-time.
First, this table is not very efficient with storage. Lets imagine for a second that Luke and Laura were extremely busy writers and managed to produce 500 books for our database. The combination of their two names is 25 characters long, and since we will repeat their two names in 500 rows we are wasting 25 × 500 = 12,500 bytes of storage space unnecessarily.
Second, this design does not protect data integrity. Lets once again imagine that Luke and Laura have written 500 books. Someone has had to type their names into the database 500 times, and it is very likely that one of their names will be misspelled at least once (i.e.. Thompson instead of Thomson). Our data is now corrupt, and anyone searching for book by author name will find some of the results missing. The same thing could happen with publisher name. Sams publishes hundreds of titles and if the publisher's name were misspelled even once the list of books by publisher would be missing titles.
Third, this table does not scale well. The limits to how far such a cluster can be scaled seems to be dependent on the scalability of its management software, which in its core has a collection of distributed algorithms to guarantee the correct operation of the cluster. The complexity of these algorithms makes them a vulnerable component of the system in terms of their impact on the overall scalability of the system.
This paper examines two of the distributed components of the Microsoft Cluster Service that are most likely to have an impact on its scalability: the membership and the global update managers. The first sections of the paper will provide some general background on these distributed services and scalability issues. After that the algorithms used to implement these service are described in detail and an analysis of their impact on scalability is given. The scalability analysis is based on an off-line analysis of the algorithms as well as the results of on-line experiments on a cluster with a, in MSCS terms, large number of nodes.

This could be as straightforward as determining whether pupils are following a lesson, or it could be the basis for planned discussion. And it's all done by asking students to make a choice and press a button. Capturing student responses when they are questioned can be a powerful tool in influencing the direction of a lesson or the planning of future work. Activote allows the answers of each pupil to be saved for retrieval later - individually or as a class. Results can also be exported to Excel for record keeping and further analysis where appropriate.
Flexibility is key in any learning environment, which is why Activote can be used in several ways. Integrated into Promethean’s software, it can be used ad-hoc, allowing teachers to ask unplanned questions as they occur. However, it also works effortlessly over any application or website. Similarly, teachers can choose between using the supplied pre-prepared content and easily making their own with the aid of the built-in Question Master Wizard.

Microsoft has implemented its own algorithms and protocols to support PPTP. This implementation of PPTP, called Microsoft PPTP, is used extensively in commercial VPN products precisely because it is already a part of the Microsoft Windows 95, 98, and NT operating systems.
The authentication protocol in Microsoft PPTP is the Microsoft Challenge / Reply Handshake Protocol (MS-CHAP) [ZC98]; the encryption protocol is Microsoft Point to Point Encryption (MPPE) [PZ98]. After Microsoft’s PPTP was cryptanalyzed [SM98] and significant weaknesses were publicized, Microsoft upgraded their protocols [Zor98a, Zor98b, Zor99]. The new version is called MS-CHAP version 2 (MS-CHAPv2); the older version has been renamed as MS-CHAP version 1 (MS-CHAPv1). MS-CHAPv2 is available as an upgrade for Microsoft Windows 95, Windows 98, and Windows NT 4.0 (DUN 1.3) [Mic98a, Mic98b]. Even though this upgrade is available, we believe that most implementation of PPTP use MS-CHAPv1.
This paper examines MS-CHAPv2 and discusses how well it addresses the security weaknesses outlined in [SM98].
The most significant changes from MS-CHAPv1 to MS-CHAPv2 are:
• The weaker LAN Manager hash is no longer sent along with the stronger Windows NT hash. This is to prevent automatic password crackers like L0phtcrack [L99] from first breaking the weaker LAN Manager hash and then using that information to break the stronger NT hash [L97].
• An authentication scheme for the server has been introduced. This is
