  • AJAXSearch: Crawling, Indexing and Searching Web 2.0 Applications
  • Current search engines such as Google and Yahoo! are prevalent for searching the Web. Search in dynamic pages, however, is either inexistent or far from perfect. AJAX and Rich Internet Application are such applications. They are increasingly frequent on the Web (in YouTube, Amazon, GMail, Yahoo!Mail) or mobile devices and are offering a high degree of interactivity to the user, by seamlessly loading content from the server without the need to refresh the page. Current search engines cannot correctly index AJAX applications. This produces false positives and false negatives, because search engines do not understand the application logic that loads content dynamically. Crawling an AJAX application is a difficult problem. Since the user invokes events on the page, crawling must identify the different application states generated by the client-side logic. This demo sets the stage for this new type of search and shows that a search engine for AJAX can be built. Among others, the challenges, as opposed to traditional search engines, are: automatically identifying states by triggering events, efficiently crawling application states, avoiding the invocation of potentially very numerous events, scalability in the number of events, duplicate elimination of states, result presentation and aggregation, ranking. The demo presents the AJAX search engine: crawler, indexer and query processor, applied on a real application and showcases challenges and solutions. Currently, Google and other search engines are the usual way to search the World Wide Web. A big part of the Web pages can be indexed and retrieved with good quality. However, the Web
  • Water Erosion Prediction Project (WEPP) Windows Interface Tutorial
  • This WEPP software consists of an erosion prediction model (WEPP) written in the Fortran programming language, a climate generator program (CLIGEN) also written in the Fortran programming language, and a Windows interface (WEPPWIN) written in the Visual C++ programming language. The interface accesses databases, organizes WEPP and CLIGEN simulations, creates all necessary input files for WEPP and CLIGEN, and executes the Fortran models when necessary. The interface also accesses and processes output information from the Fortran models for display and access by the user. Section 1. WEPP Software Installation The WEPP model and Windows interface can be installed from a file on a CD-ROM, or from the installation program downloaded from the NSERL web site. At the time of this document revision, the installation executable file was “wepp7-2002.exe”. Use either Internet Explorer or Windows Explorer to locate the installation file “wepp7-2002.exe” on your CD-ROM drive or in the directory in which you downloaded it from the NSERL Web site. Use the mouse to double-click on the WEPPWIN.EXE file. This will start the installation process. Download pdf Water Erosion Prediction Project (WEPP) Windows Interface Tutorial
  • Terrain Dune 3ds Tutorial chapter 1
  • Real-time strategy games are as close as most of us will ever get to assuming the role of a military commander. In RTS games, the player must form and carry out long-term strategies, just like in a game of chess. However, in RTS games, the player must also be able to quickly adapt his strategies to a very dynamic environment. The player does not always have a perfect picture of what is happening in the game world (unlike in a game of chess). Therefore, a plan that seemed sound a minute ago might have to be planned anew, or even scraped totally. Terrain Dune 3ds Tutorial Maybe it is just this that makes RTS games so complex and fun to play. However, in this book we will try to do something even more fun than just playing a real-time strategy game—we will make one. Throughout this book, we will build our own real-time strategy game from the ground up. Each chapter in this book works like a tutorial covering one or more of the components needed to make a real-time strategy game. Download Terrain Dune 3ds Tutorial
  • Microsoft .NET APLScript Introduction
  • APLScript is a Dyalog scripting language. Designed originally to support the specification of ASP.NET Web Pages and Web Services in APL, APLScript may also be used outside the Microsoft .NET environment. An APLScript is not workspace oriented (although you can call workspaces from it) but is simply a Unicode character file containing function bodies and expressions. APLScript files may be viewed and edited using any character-based editor such as Notepad or Microsoft Word. APLScript files are compiled by aplc.exe, the Dyalog APLScript compiler. Please see APLScript Compiler further down. In order to type Dyalog symbols into an APLScript file, a Dyalog Input Method Editor (IME) is included and automatically added to your working set of IMEs during installation. There are basically three types of APLScript files that may be identified by three different file extensions. • .aspx files specify .NET classes that represent ASP.NET Web Pages • .asmx files specify .NET classes that represent ASP.NET Web Services • .apl files may specify general .NET classes Note that .apl files may also be used simply to represent an APL application in a script format as opposed to a workspace format. Such applications do not necessarily require the Microsoft .NET Framework. Download pdf Microsoft .NET APLScript Introduction

  • The idea behind CORBA is to model distributed resources as objects that provide a well-defined interface, and to invoke services through remote invocations (RPCs). Since the transfer syntax for sending messages to objects is strictly defined, it is possible to exchange requests and replies between processes running program written in arbitrary programming languages and hosted on arbitrary hardware and operating systems. Target addresses are represented as Interoperable Object References (IORs), which contain transport addresses as well as identifiers needed to dispatch incoming messages to implementations. Interfaces to remote objects are described declaratively in an programming language-independent Interface Definition Language (IDL), which can be used to automatically generate language-specific stub code. It is important to stress that: • CORBA objects are abstract entities seen by clients and represented by artifacts in potentially arbitrary, even non-OO languages. These artifacts are called servants in CORBA terminology. • CORBA objects achieve location transparency, i.e., clients need not be (and generally are not) aware of the actual target hosts where servants reside. However, complete distribution transparency is not achieved in the sense that clients would not notice a difference between a local function call and a remote CORBA invocation. This is due to factors such as increased latency, network error conditions, and CORBA-specific initialization code in applications, and data type mappings. Download pdf JacORB 2.1 Programming Guide
  • 2009 VOLKSWAGEN JETTA TDI Information
  • The Jetta ushers in two important new features this year, a station wagon and a new, 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder TDI diesel engine. The sedan can also have its front wheels powered by a 2.5-litre 5-cylinder or a turbocharged 2.0-litre 4-cylinder. The Jetta Wagon cannot be ordered with the 2.0-litre turbocharged gasoline engine. Interior and trunk The cabin is easy to access but the wide doorsills collect dirt and grime. The front seats are very comfortable, and drivers can easily find a good driving position thanks to the telescopic steering wheel and seat height adjustment. The slide adjustment lever should be on the door-side of the seat or, even better, run the width of the seat to make it easier to shift the seat before getting in. The rear seat is comfortable for two adults. Legroom is good but headroom is tight for tall people. The folding seatback has a 60/40 split, and the leather package adds a ski pass-through. When the seatback is folded it slopes up a bit towards the front, so it doesn’t form a flat floor with the trunk of the sedan, or the cargo floor of the wagon. As is customary with Volkswagen, the sedan’s trunk is very spacious. However, the opening is a bit small. The lid has outside hinges. There’s a small dual grocery-bag hook below the upper part of the trunk. The dimensions of the cargo area in the wagon are generous: 106 cm behind the rear seatbacks when they’re up, 178 cm when they’re folded, 100 cm

  • These tires are designed for optimum performance and handling in warm climates. They are not suitable for cold, snowy, or icy weather conditions. If you drive under those circumstances, you should equip your vehicle with all-season or winter tires, which offer better traction under those conditions. We suggest you use the recommended winter or all season tire specified for your car or its equivalent. These high-performance tires also have a lower aspect ratio that aids performance and handling; however, in order to avoid tire, rim, or vehicle damage, it is important that the inflation pressure is regularly checked and maintained at recommended levels. Please also remember in making your selection that, while these tires deliver responsive handling, they may ride less comfortably and make more noise than other choices. Finally, these tires may wear more quickly than other choices. For further information on all these topics, please consult the owner's manual, your local dealer or call 1-800-FOR-AUDI Maximum speed electronically limited to 130 mph in U.S. (209 kmh in Canada). • Open Source Software and XML
  • Open source software (OSS) is both a philosophy and a process. As a philosophy it describes the intended use of software and methods for its distribution. Depending on your perspective, the concept of OSS is a relatively new idea being only five or ten years old. On the other hand, the GNU Software Project -- a project advocating the distribution of “free” software -- has been operational since the mid ‘80’s. Consequently, the ideas behind OSS have been around longer than you may think. When people think about OSS they often think about “free”, but the term “free” should be equated with freedom, and as such people who use “free” software should be: 1. free to run the software for any purpose 2. free to modify the software to suit their needs 3. free to redistribute of the software gratis or for a fee 4. free to distribute modified versions of the software Put another way the term “free” should be equated with the Latin word “liberat” meaning to liberate, and not necessarily “gratis” meaning without return made or expected. In the words of Richard Stallman, we should “think of ‘free’ as in ‘free speech,’ not as in ‘free beer.’” Activity - Writing and reading MARC In this first activity you will write, read, and download sets of MARC records. Through the process you will learn about MARC as a data structure, become familiar with an open source “toolbox” for manipulating MARC data as well as means of acquiring MARC data from remote servers using other sets
