  • Adobe Photoshop CS3 is a popular image editing software that provides a work environment consistent with Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign, Adobe ImageReady, and other products in the Adobe Creative Suite.   • AMBIENT OCCLUSION IN MAYA8 and PHOTOSHOP
  • This tutorial covers the basics of how to setup and bake ambient occlusion maps in Maya8. The process is similar for previous versions of Maya only the menu names will be different. As with most things in Maya there are probably many different ways to do this but this method works well for me and is reasonably quick to setup. 1. SETTING UP THE SHADER NETWORK - First open the hypershade window and from the Maya nodes list MMB drag a Surface Shader node into the work area - Now click on the "Create Maya Nodes" button at the top of the nodes list and change it to MentalRay nodes. - Then under the textures tab MMB drag an 'mib_amb_occlusion' node onto the work area - Now connect the 'OutValue' of the Occlusion node to the 'OutColor' of the surface shader. This is the default connection between these 2 nodes so you can do this by simply holding down Ctrl and MMB dragging the occlusion node over the shader node. 2. SETTING UP YOUR SCENE - In order to get good results from Ambient Occlusion the scene environment must be white. To do this open the Outliner window and select the Persp camera. In the attribute editor under the Environment tab slide the Background Color to 100% white - Now open the Render Globals window and select MentalRay as your renderer and Production as the quality preset.   • This paper discusses the hardware foundations of the cryptosystem employed by the Xbox TM video game console from Microsoft. A secret boot block overlay is buried within a system ASIC. This secret boot block decrypts and verifies portions of an external FLASH-type ROM. The presence of the secret boot block is camouflaged by a decoy boot block in the external ROM. The code contained within the secret boot block is transferred to the CPU in the clear over a set of high-speed busses where it can be extracted using simple custom hardware. The paper concludes with recommendations for improving the Xbox security system. One lesson of this study is that the use of a high-performance bus alone is not a sufficient security measure, given the advent of inexpensive, fast rapid prototyping services and high-performance FPGAs. Every cryptosystem is based on some kind of secret, such as a key. Regardless of the cipher, the security of a cryptosystem is only as strong as the secrecy of the key. Thus, some of the most startlingly effective attacks on a cryptosystem involve no ciphertext analysis, but instead find flaws in the protocols that manage the keys. Cryptosystems based on symmetric ciphers are particularly vulnerable to protocol attacks, since both the sender and the receiver must be trusted to have a copy of the same secret key.   • RFID (Radio Frequency identification) is a method of identification process that has potential to substitute barcode and magnetic card as an identification process. The reason of this is because RFID is created to eliminate the defect of identification process occurred when either barcode or magnetic card is used. As RFID has faced obstacles during the implementation, it has not been used widely and to its maximum capability as further development and improvement is still possible. This issue will be thoroughly discussed in this thesis. This project has a main goal to discover the obstacles for RFID to be implemented widely. The results obtained from this project would show what kind of obstacles that are encountered by RFID and therefore would be foundation for further improvements. Furthermore, the result obtained from this project will assist in the direction of further development that should be made so RFID could be implemented widely to its maximum capability. After this project is undertaken, various projects related to further development of RFID could be performed. One example of the project that can be done for RFID development is how to increase the performance of RFID. Another project that can be taken is to store data of groceries expired date in the RFID, and build a hardware that have monitor to be embedded in the refrigerator where the expiry date can be monitored using that hardware. Unlike previous issues, the March 2007 DoubleClick is published using Quark XPress 7. This issue was created with help from an OWC Mercury Extreme 1.4 GHz G4 Power Macintosh AGP Graphics tower, (with our thanks to OWC), and a 1 GHz G4 iBook. A Kodak DX7590 is used for all pictures.   • Using Dosch Textures in 3D Studio MAX In order to properly use the textures in 3D Studio MAX please verify the location (drive-letter; e.g. D: or E:) where your image-maps are located. Then open the File/Configure-Paths page in 3DSM, switch to the “Bitmap”-section and enter the path to the IMAGE-folder on your CD-ROM at the “Configure-Paths” setting If the Raytracer fails to find a texture in any of the 3DSM-default folders, it now automatically searches through the extra locations defined in the “Configure- Paths” on the “Bitmap”-page. To add a path to the Path-List, press the ‘ADD’-button and select the folder containing the image-maps for your textures, e.g. the IMAGE-folder on the product’s CD-ROM. Using Dosch Textures in LightWave3D / Inspire3D Load the *.lws or *.lwo files directly in LightWave 3D or Inspire3D. In some cases the image maps for the different material-layers may not load automatically. If a path-requester appears, locate the IMAGES-folder on the CD-ROM and select the appropriate image. Using Dosch Textures in Cinema4D In order to properly use the textures in Cinema4D please define the location where your image-maps are located. Cinema4D lets you define up to 10 extra texture locations on the ‘Preferences/Texture Paths’-page. If the Editor or the Raytracer fails to find a texture in any of the default folders, then it automatically searches through the extra locations, defined in the ‘path page’.
