  • C# is a functional programming language
  • C# 3.0 has many features well-known to functional programmers - Parameterized types and polymorphic functions (generics) - First-class functions (delegates) - Lightweight lambda expressions & closure conversion - Type inference (for locals and lambdas) - Streams (iterators) - A library of higher-order functions for collections & iterators - And even:GADTs (polymorphic inheritance) A brief history of fun in C# C# 1.0: - First-class functions (delegates),created only from named methods.Environment=object,code=method. C# 2.0: - Parameterized types and polymorphic methods (generics) - Anonymous methods: creation of delegate objects from code bodies,closure-converted by C# compiler - Iterators:stream abstraction, like generators from Clu C# 3.0: - Lambda expressions:lightweight syntax for anonymous methods whose bodies are expressions - Type inference for locals and lambdas - (Also, not discussed:expression trees for lambdas) Download pdf C# is a functional programming language
  • Measuring web 2.0 Technologies with webTrends Marketing lab
  • Web 2.0 continues to play an increasingly important role in online business today as consumers look for a new and more engaging online experience and increased flexibility in how they interact with businesses online. In the business brief Measuring Web 2.0 with WebTrends Marketing Lab, Part 1: RIA and RSS Up Close, we demonstrated how to measure Web 2.0 technologies like Rich Internet Applications (RIA)—including AJAX and Flash—to improve the user experience. We also showed that measuring the effectiveness of Real Simple Syndication (RSS) can ensure that you successfully extend the reach of your web content. Our discussion of Web 2.0 wouldn’t be complete without addressing broadcast media, which is a market that’s emerging as an increasingly important content distribution channel. As an example, a recent eMarketer survey showed that more than one-third of the total US population viewed video at least monthly during 2006, and in three years, more than half of all Americans will be part of the online video audience. In this guide, we’ll examine the challenges marketers face when leveraging broadcast media technologies such as online video and mobile media to drive customer engagement and build brand loyalty. We’ll also focus on best practices for measuring and optimizing these technologies. Business Challenges Consumers have taken control over their online experience. It’s the consumer who dictates when, where and how they engage with your company. Marketing WebTrends departments are responding to this shift by investing more in Web 2.0 technologies to provide more choices and more media channels. This shift in
  • After Effects Compositing Basics
  • This tutorial is a continuation of the “VIllus Capillary” tutorial where you went through the basics of creating a Maya scene from A-to-Z. You’re now ready to stitch together a final movie from the individual sequences of images that were rendered in Maya. In addition to simply ‘stitching’ the sequences together, we will explore a few different compositing tasks as well. For example, there are benefits to rendering a single image/shot into multiple ‘render passes’ where different elements of the scene are separated out onto different layers and rendered independently with an alpha channel (i.e. transparency information). These passes need to be overlaid and blended together in ‘post’ (i.e. in a compositing package like After Effects). With this extra step you gain additional control over processes that would otherwise take longer to render ‘in camera’ (i.e. in your 3D package). We will composite together one of the sequences from your movie in order to add fake depth-of-field effects (i.e. blurring), a process that can be tricky and processor-intensive at render time in Maya. Begin by opening the After Effects program – the standard layout for this application (v7Pro) contains a number of preset panels: - the “Project” panel in the upper left: this is where you can import and organize the raw materials for your final composite - the horizontal “Timeline” panel at the very bottom: it show layers on the left and the actual timeline (and any keyframes you will place on it) on the right. - the “Composition” panel to the right

  • Nissan X-Trail Road Test PDF
  • The X-Trail is quite a roomy and comfortable vehicle for its size. Head and leg room in both the front and the rear seating positions is adequate for most adults. The front bucket seats offer reasonable support and shape, although the cushions could do with some additional bolstering to further improve lateral support. The rear luggage area is quite spacious with the added versatility of a split fold rear seat. A hard plastic finish is used in the cargo area that is practical and easy to clean, but tends to look cheap. One of the first things you’ll notice once seated in the driver’s position of the X-Trail is that all the instruments are located in the centre of the dash, rather than behind the steering wheel. In fact, the entire layout of the dash is rather unusual. Nissan claims that it is an innovative design, but I found the unconventional positioning of the controls and instruments a little annoying. In particular, all the vents are located below the level of the steering column and failed to blow enough cool air towards your face on a hot day. The handbrake lever felt particularly flimsy and the bold interior trim is certainly not conservative. The X-Trail has quite a robust feel on the road that is typical of many larger four wheel drive vehicles. The all-new 2.5 litre engine delivers strong performance throughout the rev range that is on par with Honda’s new 2.4 litre engine, found in the CRV. Generally, the
  • Fiat Brava Replacing Fuel Injectors
  • Details of Fiat Brava 16v 1599cc engines vary considerably depending on the year of manufacture and the chassis number. The following procedure applies to a year 1999 model with a Schrader valve at the end of the fuel rail to release fuel pressure. The replacement injector is a manufacturer supplied part according to Fiat and costs about £100. Once you have one and are certain of the part number, when another is required, it is worth checking other sources such as eBay, as new ones have been advertised there for £58. DIAGNOSTICS If the engine is misfiring, and the spray pattern light illuminates on the dashboard then the Fiat garage will be able to specify exactly which injector/s, if any, are faulty by using electronic diagnostics. The test will cost over £30. To replace each injector in turn is not possible due to their location. However it is possible to remove the lead from each spark plug in turn, check the difference this makes to the tick over, and the one that makes no difference, is supplied by the faulty injector. If there is any doubt at all then consult the Fiat garage REPLACEMENT PROCEDURE Note: It will be necessary to get underneath the vehicle. Ramps are the ideal solution as the car is very low to the ground in any case. 1 Release pressure in the fuel system by opening the petrol cap and replacing. Then unscrew the plastic cap at the end of the fuel rail, place a cloth underneath, then press in
