  • Object-Oriented JavaScript
  • In this chapter, you'll learn about OOP (Object-Oriented Programming) and how it relates to JavaScript. As an ASP.NET developer, you probably have some experience working with objects, and you may even be familiar with concepts such as inheritance. However, unless you're already an experienced JavaScript programmer, you probably aren't familiar with the way JavaScript objects and functions really work. This knowledge is necessary in order to understand how the Microsoft AJAX Library works, and this chapter will teach you the necessary foundations. More specifically, you will learn: What encapsulation, inheritance, and polymorphism mean How JavaScript functions work How to use anonymous functions and closures How to read a class diagram, and implement it using JavaScript code How to work with JavaScript prototypes How the execution context and scope affect the output of JavaScript functions How to implement inheritance using closures and prototypes What JSON is, and what a JSON structure looks like In the next chapters you'll use this theory to work effectively with the Microsoft AJAX Library. Concepts of Object-Oriented Programming Most ASP.NET developers are familiar with the fundamental OOP principles because this knowledge is important when developing for the .NET development. Similarly, to develop client-side code using the Microsoft AJAX Library, you need to be familiar with JavaScript's OOP features. Although not particularly difficult, understanding these features can be a bit challenging at first, because JavaScript's OOP model is different than that of languages such as C#, VB.NET, C++, or Java. source: c-sharpcorner.com Download pdf Object-Oriented JavaScript
  • SVG-Paint: Java Server Faces, Facelets and Web 2.0 for SVG
  • Java Server Faces (JSF) is a MVC (Model View Control) framework for (dynamic) Web-Pages. Facelets is using x-Html pages and Templates to replace JSP (Java Server Pages) for Java Server Faces. It completes the picture and creates a REAL MCV concept (One could use java code within JSP pages). This document tries to explain how JSF with Facelets works, and give a few short directions on how to get it to work. It will also cover how Web 2.0 can be used, and what this means for SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics). All Example-Code within this document is taken from the SVG-Paint Project. SVG-Paint is a web-based painting program based on SVG and Javascript. It features serveral pre-defined forms as rectangular, circle and line, as well as the possibility to draw free-hand. Drawn objects can be changed, deleted and - in the case of the pre-defined forms - moved and zoomed. Paintings can be saved and loaded. To understand how SVG-Paint works, one first has to understand the techniques used for creating it, which will be presented below. Java Server Faces with Facelets MVC The Model View Control concept tries to seperate the code into 3 layers, so each part of it can be changed easily without affecting the others: • Model. Here resides everything that actually does the work - all the functions, and all the data structures. • View. This layer is the one the user can see - it displays the results of the program. • Control. This last layer controls the workflow of the

  • Source Code Migration to DOT NET Framework: A Re-engineering Application Perspective
  • DOT NET is one of the key products that enable application development under the new vision. However, DOT NET is not quite backward compatible with prior versions like visual basic version 6. This makes migration a serious issue. Converting existing source code to DOT NET architecture is not just a matter of loading it to the new version. DOT NET has its built-in migration tool, which performs the vital task of converting the source code syntax. But that's just half of the work done. But before the converted code is actually compiled, the developer needs to enable it to smoothly fix lot of issues to fit into DOT NET architecture. In present efforts to find out solutions to these migration issues, a re-engineering Migration Model for Legacy Source Code (MMLC) has been proposed in this study. Proposed model has been further validated using a in-house project at one of the leading software development organisation. It is envisaged from the experimental try-out that the model would help the developer community to easily convert their legacy source code to DOT NET framework. The architecture of DOT NET offers several advantages, such as object-oriented features, ease of developing and deploying Windows and Web applications, ability to develop Web services and mobile applications, improved security features, ability to access data using disconnected record sets, backward compatibility etc. With all the above features, it becomes necessary to convert the legacy source code into DOTNET framework to sustain and improve the business[1]. It is evident form the literature
  • 15-inch PowerBook G4 Battery Exchange Program pdf
  • If your battery serial number does not match the requirements listed above, you do not have to exchange your battery. National and regional resellers, catalogers, and Apple? on-line and retail stores sold the comput-ers with the batteries from January 2004 through August 2004 for between US$2000 and US$2600. These batteries were also sold separate-ly for about US$130. The Exchange Process To begin the battery exchange process, you will be asked for the serial number of your 15-inch PowerBook G4, the serial number of your PowerBook battery and a ship to address. After serial number verification, a new battery will be shipped to you free of charge. When yo u receive the replacement battery, please use the same shipping envelope and included prepaid shipping label to return the recalled battery to Apple. If you need to exchange more than three batteries IN COOPERATION WITH the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and other international safety authorities, Apple is volun-tarily recalling certain lithium ion rechargeable batteries that were sold worldwide from January 2004 through August 2004 for use with 15-inch PowerBook G4 (Aluminum) notebook comput-ers. These batteries were manufactured by LG Chem, Ltd. of South Korea. The affected batteries could overheat, posing a fire hazard. Apple re c e i ved four re p o rts of these bat-teries overheating. • The human race, being a constant prey for vampires has always been fascinated by the latter. And if the object of that fascination is a really hot vampire in a tight leather suit, the stage is set for a successful game. It is set in 1933 and 1938, just before World War II. As an agent of the Brimstone Society, Rayne is sent to a variety of locations (a small swamp town in Louisiana, a Nazi fortress in Argentina, and an ancient castle in Germany) to battle supernatural creatures as well as the Nazi army. • Content Management Systems for Mobile Tele-Education
  • Mobile communication is the basis for one of the fastest growing business areas at the beginning of the 21 st century. With IMT-2000 (International Mobile Telecommunications 2000), high-speed communication is possible anywhere, at any time, to any communication partner, with almost any device. As IMT-2000 comprises a set of different networking technologies, it provides a communication framework in which a subscriber may freely roam without having to be concerned about which network to use [1]. Hand-over procedures seamlessly integrate in-house networks, campus-based networks, metropolitan and wide area networks. However, the companies active in the area of mobile computing made huge investments to secure a place for themselves in the IMT-2000 business. These investments must lead to an appropriate revenue achieved by mass acceptance of mobile data services. The outlook is quite optimistic, as the number of worldwide mobile cellular subscribers rose from about 23 millions in 1992 to almost 700 millions in 2000. But mass acceptance must on the one hand be achieved by networking architectures offering adequate quality of service and attractive tariffs. On the other hand, services have to be provided that make potential customers subscribe to a mobile network provider. And as a killer application for IMT-2000 has not been found yet, experts believe that business will be driven by a mixture of applications. • How to Do Everything with Web 2.0 Mashups Chapter 1
  • This chapter presents a few of the thousands of mashups you can find today on the Web. No one knows how many other mashups live behind corporate firewalls, but, chances are, the number is large. The mashups in this chapter were chosen to show the variety of the world of mashups. Some of them are proofs-of-concept, others are works-in-progress, and others are experiments. Others are actual, live products or marketing tools. Mashups often provide visualization of information, and, frequently, that visualization is in the form of interactive maps. The release of the Google maps API was a major factor in the interest in mashups, in large part because so much information lends itself to mapping. As you will see in later chapters of this book, new technologies grouped together as Web 2.0 and AJAX are the building blocks of mashups. In conjunction with APIs such as Google mapping, eBay, Yahoo!, Flickr, and others, you will soon be able to build your own mashups like the ones shown in this chapter. AJAX (Asynchronous JavaScript and XML) AJAX (Asynchronous JavaScript and XML) is a term first used by Jesse James Garrett in 2005. AJAX is generally considered to include JavaScript, XML, XHTML, DOM, and XMLHttpRequest, all of which are technologies developed in the 1990s, some of them in conjunction with Microsoft’s Remote Scripting project. Despite this plethora of technologies, the principle is quite simple: a Web page can retrieve and display data without having to refresh or reload the entire page. To do this,
  • The Interplay of Real Life and Facebook in Defining Interpersonal Romantic Relationships
  • Electronic communication has been redefining the ways in which people communicate with each other since its wide-spread introduction in the 1990’s. E-mail, instant messaging, internet forums, and social networking have added entirely new meanings to interpersonal interaction and community. Through time, internet based communication has developed its own set of non-verbal communication (emoticons, select usage of certain punctuation, chat speak, etc.) Like all other communication technologies, it has also been adapted into everyday life and everyday communication (by those that have access of course). It is the interplay between internet and real life communication and its subsequent effect on interpersonal relationships that is the focus of this research proposal. Popular social networking websites such as Facebook have bundled many of the internet communication standards such as e-mail, forums, and instant messaging into one resource. Then these communication standards are linked together through a Web 2.0 standard called “social networking.” Social networking allows users to link and communicate with each other through a myriad of ways… and it is always at the user’s discretion. Research has already been done on who uses Facebook, why they do, and how much time they spend on it (Ellison, Steinfield, & Lampe, 2007). There has also been introductory research done on the benefits of social networking through Facebook (Stern & Taylor, 2007) and the electronic presenting and “looking glass” self through Facebook (Walther 2008). The academic world knows what Facebook is and why it’s used. However, in the last two years, Facebook usage has become a staple
