NI Vision 8.2 Development ModuleThis document outlines new functionality, system requirements, installation procedures, and descriptions of the documentation included with the NI Vision Development Module. The NI Vision Development Module is for engineers and scientists who are developing machine vision and scientific imaging applications. The NI Vision Development Module includes NI Vision and NI Vision Assistant. NI Vision is a library of powerful functions for image processing, and is available for LabVIEW, LabWindows™/CVI™, and Microsoft Visual Basic. NI Vision Assistant is an interactive environment for developers who need to quickly prototype vision applications without programming. In addition, the NI Vision Development Module ships with the NI Vision Acquisition Software CD, which includes National Instruments driver software for controlling image acquisition products.
Refer to the readme.rtf file, included with the software, for the most up-to-date information about the NI Vision Development Module.
This section describes the new features available in the NI Vision Development Module.
• Golden Template Comparison—Functions for comparing the pixel intensities of an image under inspection to a golden template. A golden template is an image containing an ideal representation of an object under inspection.
• Data Matrix—Enhancements in speed and accuracy and functions that output the ISO 16022 (AIM) grade for a given Data Matrix barcode.
• Geometric Matching Enhancements:
– Calibrated Images—Uses calibration information attached to the inspection image to return the location, orientation, and angle of a match in pixels and real-world units.
– Multiple Template Matching—Simultaneously locate multiple grayscale templates within a single grayscale image.

The standard equipment features of this vehicle are reasonably good and include air conditioning, power steering, electric mirrors and windows, radio/CD player, engine immobiliser, driver’s airbag, limited slip differential and cruise control (now standard on all Di-D models). Significantly, anti-lock brakes are not fitted to the GLX, while a passenger’s airbag is available as an option. A monocoque body shell has been used since the introduction of the NM Pajero, and aside from the new engine, the structure of the Pajero remains unaltered.
The test vehicle appeared reasonably well finished, although it had been subjected to a fairly hard life. As a result, the Pajero had a couple of rattles and some poor fitting body mouldings. The interior of the Pajero is roomy enough to satisfy the space requirements of most adults. The front bucket seats are quite comfortable, offering good lateral support but no lumbar adjustment. The rear seat is a 60/40 split fold unit that is quite basic in shape and there is still only a lap belt for the centre rear seating position. A fold out third row seat provides additional seating for two small children. The Pajero has a good layout of controls and instruments that, typically of many Japanese vehicles, is clear and easy to operate. The proof of concept shows that SQL Server 2005 can deliver the same or better results for a high-performance enterprise-class data warehouse than the more-costly alternatives.
We delivered an optimized data warehouse solution using SQL Server 2005, SQL Server 2005 Integration Services, and SQL Server 2005 Analysis Services on a Unisys ES7000/one Enterprise Server with x64 processors. We conducted a series of tests for extraction, transformation, and load (ETL) operations and online analytical processing (OLAP) cube building. These tests measured throughput, scalability, and performance as the amount of data and execution parallelism were increased. SQL Server 2005 demonstrated the ability to use all available CPUs and memory for both the bulk data load and cube processing testing. In this proof of concept we outperformed the direct competition (Oracle-based solutions) by at least 45 percent. The test results documented in this paper prove that the SQL Server 2005 suite running on the Unisys ES7000 server can take advantage of parallelism and multiple processors to deliver extremely high rates of ETL and OLAP cube processing throughputs. Our team of 12 specialists from Unisys, Microsoft (U.S. and Germany), and Platon implemented this fully-functional data warehouse in less than three weeks.

Since the transfer syntax for sending messages to objects is strictly defined, it is possible to exchange requests and replies between processes running program written in arbitrary programming languages and hosted on arbitrary hardware and operating systems. Target addresses are represented as Interoperable Object References (IORs), which contain transport addresses as well as identifiers needed to dispatch incoming messages to implementations.
Interfaces to remote objects are described declaratively in an programming language-independent Interface Definition Language (IDL), which can be used to automatically generate language-specific stub code.
It is important to stress that:
• CORBA objects are abstract entities seen by clients and represented by artifacts in potentially arbitrary, even non-OO languages. These artifacts are called servants in CORBA terminology.
• CORBA objects achieve location transparency, i.e., clients need not be (and generally are not) aware of the actual target hosts where servants reside. However, complete distribution transparency is not achieved in the sense that clients would not notice a difference between a local function call and a remote CORBA invocation. This is due to factors such as increased latency, network error conditions, and CORBA-specific initialization code in applications, and data type mappings.
