  • SSH Secure File Transfer for Windows - Student Organizations Server Tutorial
  • This tutorial demonstrates how to use the SSH Secure File Transfer client for Windows to copy files from a local computer to the Student Organizations Server. The example uses http://www.clubs.psu.edu/up/clubs_example/, as the Web address for an example organization at University Park. Organizations that use http://www.greeks.psu.edu/ in their Web address have “up” as their campus code. A fraternity with a Web address of http://www.greeks.psu.edu/ifc/aaa/ has the directory path /clubs/up/aaa. The councils also have this distinction, (for example, IFC has the directory path /clubs/up/ifc/). 1. First you must install the Secure FTP client for Windows if you haven’t already done so. You can download the client (part of the SSH Secure Shell program).. Download SSH Secure File Transfer for Windows - Student Organizations Server Tutorial

September 2005 This special report, commissioned by VeriSign, tests SGC- and non-SGC-enabled certificates in 92 common environments to determine under what conditio use benefit from strong encryption. As Exhibit 1 illustrates, SGC-enabled certificates enable more Windows 2000 use to connect with 128-bit encryption. This difference mea te of millio more internet use worldwide would get 128-bit encryption or higher if all e-commerce vendo used SGC-enabled certificates. © Copyright 1997-2005. • Control Abstraction in Parallel Programming Languages
  • Control abstraction is the process by which programmers de ne new control constructs, specifying a statement ordering separately from an implementation of that ordering. We argue that control abstraction can and should play a central role in parallel programming. Control abstraction can be used to build new control constructs for the expression of parallelism. A control construct can have several implementations, representing the varying degrees of parallelism to be exploited on different architectures. Control abstraction also reduces the need for explicit synchronization, since it admits a precise specification of control ow. Using several examples, we illustrate these benefits of control abstraction. We also show that we can efficiently implement a parallel programming language based on control abstraction. We conclude that the enormous benefits and reasonable costs of control abstraction argue for its inclusion in explicitly parallel programming languages. Sequential programming languages use sequencing, repetition, and selection to define a total ordering of statement executions in a program. Parallel programming languages use additional control ow constructs, such as fork, cobegin, or parallel for loops, to introduce a partial order on statement executions, which admits a parallel implementation. Since parallelism is primarily an issue of control ow, the control constructs provided by the language can either help or hinder attempts to express and exploit parallelism. • Experiences Teaching Data Structures With Java
  • Among Computer Science educators, hardly any topic inspires more heated debate than the choice of programming language in the introductory sequence. In the late 80s, the uniformly accepted choice was Pascal, but since then, a host of alternatives have come into use. C++ seems to have emerged as the winner, while Pascal, C, Ada, Scheme, and Modula-3 split most of the remaining market. There appear to be two overriding reasons for C++’s emergence. First, principles such as encapsulation and information hiding, that are important to teach in the CS I/II curriculum, are easily demonstrated in C++. Much of the ugliness associated with C is easily avoided in C++ by the use of a tiny set of classes: About all that is needed is a String and Vector class. Second, C++ has become an industry standard (even though C++ is itself not yet standardized). Many universities are finding that they must teach C++ at some point, and given limitations on the number of courses that can be offered, they are finding it most convenient to teach it early. C++, however, has its share of problems; some of these problems will be discussed later. Java is the new alternative to C++. It can be presented as a simpler C++ that fixes many of C++’s bad features and provides a primitive, but useful, GUI toolkit. One argument for teaching Java early is that it is better to use an alreadydefined language rather than attempt to subset a complex language. While C++ is arguably the

  • Volvo Penta Marine engines MD201OA/B/C - MD202OA/B/C Worksop Manual
  • This Workshop Manual contains technical specifica- tions, descriptions and instructions for the repair of the following engines in standard format: MD2010, MD2020, MD2030, MD2040. This Workshop Manual can show operations carried out on any of the engines listed above. As a result the illustrations and pictures in the manual that show certain parts on the engines, do not in some cases apply to all the engines listed. How- ever the repair and service operations described are in all essential details the same. Where they are not the same this is stated in the manual and where the difference is considerable the operations are described separately. The Engine Designations and Engine Number can be found on the product plate. Please always include both the engine designation and the engine number in all correspondance . The Workshop Manual is produced primarily for the use of Volvo Penta workshops and service technicians. For this reason the manual presupposes a certain basic knowledge of marine propulsion systems and that the user can carry out the mechanical/electrical work described to a general standard of engineering competence. Volvo Penta products are under a continual process of development and we therefore reserve all rights regarding changes and modifications. All the information in this manual is based on product specifications avail- able at the time the book was published. Any essential changes or modifications introduced into production or updated or revised service methods introduced after the date of publication will be provided in the form of Service Bulletins. • Creating a 3D immersive environment in Maya
  • The following tutorial will take you step by step through the creation of a natural environment in Maya. You will also setup a character inside the environment and to add interactivity in Virtools. This tutorial introduces you to Maya’s 3D Paint Effects allowing you to paint in 3D. A few strokes can paint trees, grass, flowers. The paint strokes from your brush are converted into 3D objects inside a 3D space. Maya’s ability to convert 3D Paint Effects to polygonal objects is helpful to create content for interactive environments. This tutorial requires Maya 5.0 and up. You can control the strokes’ shape, color, density, while painting on the horizontal grid plane of the perspective view or directly on other 3D objects. Let’s grab a brush and start to paint trees and grass in 3D, let’s create the ground for your forest. 3.1 - Creating the ground Open a new scene in Maya. Go to the top menu, select, “File” > “New Scene”. Select the “Modeling” module in the box located on the left of the “Status Line”. Create a polygonal plane for the floor of your scene. • SCAAS: A Secure Authentication and Access Control System for Web Application Development
  • Web sites today face many threats to the confidentiality and integrity of the data used and the functionality provided by the application. This problem is compounded by the fact that Web developers are simply lack of either adequate knowledge and skills in writing secure Web application codes (Huang et al., 2005) or sufficient testing methodologies for the audit and control of Web development (Mansouir and Houri, 2006). Works in the design and implementation of security measures for Web applications are greatly in need. User authentication and data access are becoming two of the most common areas for web attacks when procedures such as single sign-on and authentication delegation have become practically indispensable for e-business environment (Paulus, 2001). These two types of on-line vulnerability can be counterattacked by securing user account database that opens the gate of the application and by encrypting SQL connection that leads to the data store. This paper describes the design and development of a Secure Authentication and Access Control System, herein referred to as SCAAS, implemented as a reusable library that provides data- driven and encryption-based authentication and access control for the use with ASP.NET applications. SCAAS employs Microsoft SQL Server to persist the security definitions that the SCAAS run-time system utilizes. The SCAAS database will be herein referred to as the SCAAS User Registry. The system also provides an ASP.NET based administration application that is used to maintain the data in the SCAAS User Registry.
