Web 2.0 in 2008Applications manufacturers today offer tools that allow companies to reap all of the potential benefits of Web 2.0. Behind most of these initiatives lies a simple yet very promising idea for the corporate world. Without installing “in house” software (that is under the cloud computing format), companies can capitalize on these free on-line services for a series of activities requiring coordination or collaboration. These include organizing meetings, sharing contacts and documents, and creating communities. Furthermore, integration with social networks allows companies to get to know their clients and their preferences better in order to choose the ideal candidates. In this sense, it seems logical to assume that Web 2.0 will undergo a strong new surge due to its commitment to mobility, and specific applications are already coming out on the market.
In general, Spanish companies have been slow to jump onto the bandwagon. There are a few exceptions, though. One of the most noteworthy of these is Actibva, the Web 2.0 platform launched by BBVA that is designed to inform users about the evolution of financial markets and foment relationships among parties interested in savings and economic topics from the viewpoint of markets as well as the personal finances. As such, users can vote on news items and introduce their own commentaries.

• Generics permit classes, structs, interfaces, delegates, and methods to be parameterized by the types of data they store and manipulate. Generics are useful because they provide stronger compile-time type checking, require fewer explicit conversions between data types, and reduce the need for boxing operations and runtime type checks.
• Anonymous methods allow code blocks to be written “in-line” where delegate values are expected. Anonymous methods are similar to lambda functions in the Lisp pro- gramming language. C# 2.0 supports the creation of “closures” where anonymous methods access surrounding local variables and parameters.
• Iterators are methods that incrementally compute and yield a sequence of values. Itera- tors make it easy for a type to specify how the foreach statement will iterate over its elements.
• Partial types allow classes, structs, and interfaces to be broken into multiple pieces stored in different source files for easier development and maintenance. Additionally, partial types allow separation of machine-generated and user-written parts of types so that it is easier to augment code generated by a tool.
This chapter introduces these new features. Following the introduction are four chapters that provide a complete technical specification of the features.
The language extensions in C# 2.0 were designed to ensure maximum compatibility with existing code. A browser accesses the URL for the application, which returns a JSP-rendered HTML page. The browser issues additional requests to the Web application, and servlets are used to control the flow as users move through the purchase request. Through HTTP this virtual browser fetches and interprets ConXML pages from other application servers while maintaining the state of the conversation in the virtual browser. It is very simple using this architecture to build highly complex ConXML applications that extend existing web applications, since the only requirements is to output an alternate markup while using the same business logic. The design decisions needed to build a conversation application are the same used to build a web application. Some applica- tions may use static ConXML pages, while others rely on dynamic ConXML page generation using an application server like RoR, Tomcat, or PHP.

4. To set the font for the current paper only, click OK.
5. To keep this font setting for all papers, change the default as follows:
a. Click the Default button at bottom left of the Font menu.
