  • Using Web Analytics with Microsoft Silverlight
  • Silverlight is Microsoft’s cross-browser, cross-platform browser plug-in that allows the creation of interactive web applications that employ high quality streaming media, vector graphics, images, and animation. Deployed as a plug-in for the major browsers on the Windows, Mac and Linux (supported by Novell) operating systems, web developers can craft interactive applications that have an identical user experience on the vast majority of web browsers deployed today. Silverlight addresses a disconnect that exists today in web development workflow where the design intent of graphics designers and interaction designers cannot be faithfully communicated to and crafted by the web developers. In Silverlight, this intent is created in design tools like Expression Design and Expression Blend and passed off to web developers in XML-based XAML data files. The fidelity of the designers’ ideas is kept as there is a clear separation between the design in XAML and the code in JavaScript. Silverlight is a browser plug-in that renders XAML and exposes a JavaScript programming model in 1.0, extending this with a .NET programming model and runtime in Silverlight 2. Since the Silverlight 2 runtime has full access to the HTML Document Object Model (DOM) and cross-domain data access abilities, it is possible for future Silverlight applications to implement analytics entirely in managed code or in JavaScript code that is invoked from the managed code. This architecture enables using AJAX-style programming patterns for building responsive, interactive, applications. An event model within the Silverlight control allows for web developers to easily add JavaScript-based event handling for mouse,
  • Towards C# program verification: C#-kernel and its axiomatic semantics
  • Verification of programs presented in widely-used object-oriented programming languages, such as C++, C#, Java, is a subject of much current interest. The well-known approach to program verification is based on Hoare-like axiomatic semantics. Difficulties of developing compact and transparent axiomatic semantics of object-oriented programming languages are connected with such constructs as overloading, dynamic binding of methods, exception handling, static initialization of classes. Axiomatic semantics has been proposed for different sequential subsets of Java in [3, 4, 7–10]. While compact and transparent axiomatic semantics has been developed for separate difficult Java constructs, it turned out to be cumbersome and inconvenient for the practical use in the case of a wide sequential Java subset. In this paper we consider a wide sequential C# subset called C#-light. C#-light programs include all sequential C# constructs except for attributes, destructors, using statements, checked and unchecked constructs and unsafe code constructs. To simplify C#-light program verification, C#-light is translated into an intermediate language C#-kernel, for which a Hoare-like axiomatic semantics is proposed. Unlike standard axiomatic semantics, our forward rules can generate lazy verification conditions which include functional symbols denoting postponed extractions of invariants of labelled statements as well as postponed invocations of methods and delegates. These functional symbols are eliminated by refinement algorithms. Download pdf Towards C# program verification: C#-kernel and its axiomatic semantics

  • The descriptions and service procedures contained in this manual are based on designs and methods studies carried out up to January 2005. The products are under continuous development. Vehicles and components produced after the above date may therefore have different specifications and repair methods. When this is judged to have a significant bearing on this manual, supplementary service bulletins will be issued to cover the changes. The new edition of this manual will update the changes. In service procedures where the title incorporates an operation number, this is a reference to V.S.T. (Volvo Standard Times). Service procedures which do not include an operation number in the title are for general information and no reference is made to V.S.T. The following levels of observations, cautions and warnings are used in this Service Documentation: Note: Indicates a procedure, practice, or condition that must be followed in order to have the vehicle or component function in the manner intended. Caution: Indicates an unsafe practice where damage to the product could occur. Warning: Indicates an unsafe practice where personal injury or severe damage to the product could occur. • Focusing the Autofocus: The a Autofocus group in the first level of the Custom Settings menu contains a variety of advanced autofocus options. This chapter details options that can be used to frame moving subjects at sporting events: a1 (AF-Cpriority selection), a3 (Dynamic AF area), and a4 (Focus tracking with lock-on). These options are best used with the focus mode selector rotated to C (continuous-servo AF) and the AF-area mode selector rotated to I (dynamic-area AF). 1. Select continuous-servo AF. Rotate the focus-mode selector to C. The camera will continually adjust focus while the shutter-release button is pressed halfway. 2. Select dynamic-area AF. Rotate the AF-area mode selector to I (dynamic-area AF). If the subject briefly leaves the selected focus point, the camera will focus based on information from surrounding focus points 3. Choose an option for Custom Setting a1. Choose whether the camera gives priority to focus or to shutter response in focus mode C. 4. Choose an option for Custom Setting a3. Choose the number of focus points used for dynamic-area AF. Select 9 points or 21 points for track-and-field events or for subjects that move unpredictably. • The Color Guide and Glossary
  • Color communicates. Color sells. Color is the sizzle that drives the sale of virtually every consumer product in the world. It evokes a wide range of emotions that draw the buyer to the product. As design, graphics, and imaging professionals, we know that color is a crucial part of the selling process because it is such an important part of the buying decision. If we use color effectively in the manufacturing and marketing of an item, potential buyers will perceive added value in that product. These GATF test images demonstrate colors that must be reproduced with careful precision. If the color of skin tones, sky blue, grass green, or food items are “off” by even a small margin, the appearance of the entire image will be adversely affected. To use color effectively, it must be kept under tight control. The color workflow begins with the designer’s ideas and the customer’s specifications. From there, these colors must be communicated among several different individuals who will render and reproduce the colors on many different devices. At each stage of production, output from the previous step becomes the input for the next process. Every exchange brings the color into a new color space—from photographic film to monitor RGB to CMYK process proofing and printing on a variety of systems. And every evaluation is made by a different viewer under new viewing conditions. So, how do we ensure that our original ideas and specifications will remain intact throughout this complicated process? This book is designed to answer
