  • There are many Sun Microsystems technologies that use Ajax [Ajax], and more than one way to use Ajax on mobile platforms. For example, applications written using the Java Platform, Enterprise Edition (Java EE, formerly known as J2EE) may generate XML, JSON [JSON], XHTML and/or ECMAScript destined for mobile browsers. One of the recent advances on the Java Platform, Mobile Edition (Java ME, formerly known as J2ME) is the Mobile Service Architecture [MSA]. MSA is a Java Specification Request (JSR-248) which defines a set of APIs for Java ME which include a wide variety of features, from Bluetooth to payment, multimedia APIs and support for rich, animated graphics. This paper discusses an effort to provide Java ME developers with tools to create Mobile Ajax applications, combining the simplicity and familiarity of the Ajax programming model with the richness and secure environment of the MSA APIs. This effort takes the form of an open-source library that can be added to any Java ME application. The paper briefly describes this library along with some sample use cases. Mobile Ajax For The Java ME Platform Ajax is typically used in the context of Web applications running in a browser and using XmlHttpRequest from ECMAScript to retrieve XML or JSON data from RESTful Web Services.   • Getting Started a) Make sure vehicle is parked on a level surface. b) Set parking brake. c) Jack the front of the vehicle and support with properly rated jack stands. d) Lift the plastic battery cover and disconnect both battery terminals. Remove the short positive lead from the positive battery terminal. (Fig. 1) e) If engine has run within the past two hours let it cool down. 2) Removing the stock air inlet system a) Swing the fuse box on top of the battery upwards and remove the hinge from the plastic battery box. b) Remove the four screws along the top of the radiator support. (Fig. 2) Remove the two plastic covers. c) Remove the battery hold down bolt and remove the battery from the vehicle. (Fig. 3) d) Remove the three bolts that secure the plastic battery box in place. Two bolts are located at the rear of the battery, on either side of the plastic wire tunnel. The third bolt is located on the radiator side of the battery. (Fig. 4) e) Unlatch the plastic wire tunnel cover on the backside of the battery box. (Fig. 5) Swing the cover open and remove the wire harness for the plastic battery box. f) Remove the plastic battery tray from the vehicle by removing the four bolts that secure it. (Fig. 6) g) Unplug the wire connector from the MAF sensor. (Fig. 7) h) Loosen the spring hose clamp that secures the inlet tube to the MAF sensor. Pull the inlet tube clear of the MAF sensor. Besides fluency in the language for which you are creating the front-end processor, you need knowledge of the Palm OS™ and C/C++ programming. The software is rich in features and therefore this review will only highlight some of the cool capabilities. Connection to Remote Servers Most companies require you to use the ssh protocol to access their servers. While it is easy to setup your own ssh tunnel to connect to your remote database, it is quite cumbersome to do that. SQLYog allows you to easily do this and lets you save your secure MySQL connection. I use this all the time and I do not even think about ssh tunneling anymore. On the downside, when I tried to connect to another database, the software opened a separate window for me. This made it difficult for me to switch from one window to another. This can be annoying if you want to compare two databases but it could also be a security measure so that you do not accidentally apply the wrong SQL statements to the wrong database.   • This document is a short introduction to working with COVISE. It is primarily a tutorial for COVISE novices. It doesn’t cover advanced topics such as the development of new application modules or the installation and configuration process. We assume that you have a running COVISE on your machine. For installation guide read the files README and INSTALL.TXT which come with your COVISEdistribution. For developing new application modules read the COVISE Programming Guide. COVISE is a Collaborative Visualization and Simulation Environment developed at the Computing Center of the University of Stuttgart. It is an extendable distributed software environment to integrate supercomputer based simulations, postprocessing, and visualization functionality with cooperative working in a seamless manner. The tutorial contains the five chapters: In Chapter 1 Starting COVISE you learn how to initiate a single user session and load a saved session. The functionality of some basic modules (RWCovise, DomainSurface, CuttingSurface) is explained. Chapter 2 Using the Inventor Renderer gives a short introduction to the typical work with the Renderer.
