It's concise, very readable syntax has me exciting about writing JavaScript again. It's unobtrusiveness makes it easy to add rich behavior—such as background form submissions—to web applications with very little modification of existing code. Being unobtrusive is particularly important when you are working with a large code base, or where extensive refactoring just isn't going to get funding. My boss is not going to give me 4 weeks to go back and add some visual goodness to an existing site. But I might get 4 hours, and that's where jQuery can help.
As a simple example, imagine an automobile search function that returns results based on a vehicle Model. Enter text into the field, click submit, and the results are displayed. The JSP might look like:
After the user enters a name and clicks submit, the entire screen turns white while the page refreshes and then the results are displayed. This is not a good user experience. Now, let's use jQuery to improve that experience by refreshing only the part of the page that actually needs to change. The modifications made to the existing page are:
1. Split the search form and search results into 2 separate JSPs so the results can be displayed separately, without having to re-render the search form.
2. Add a placeholder DIV on the search form JSP to hold the search1.8T Boost Control SystemThe 1.8T BCS (Boost Control System) is designed to work with all throttle-by-wire Audi and Volkswagen 1.8T engines. Compatible models include the A4, Beetle, Passat, Jetta, Golf and GTI. The BCS provides user adjustability of maximum boost. At the minimum setting, the boost is held to the stock level of 6 PSI and the car will drive exactly like a stock car. As the boost setting is increased, the allowable boost is increased in precise increments. At the maximum setting, the boost is allowed to reach 14.5 PSI. This boost increases horsepower by 30 hp and the low-end torque is increased by 45 ft-lbs. The BCS includes a ten segment, three color LED boost gauge that reads in 1.5 PSI increments from 1 to 14.5 PSI. The display is electronically filtered to provide a smooth reading.
The BCS offers an alternative to aftermarket re-programming of the ECU. With the BCS, the stock ECU programming is maintained. This helps to preserve smooth and predictable drivability.
The BCS is easy to install. Its small size makes it easy to fit in the center console. The six wires leading from the BCS are all connected to the car’s wiring harness at one location.

Whilst writing the EJB modules for our JGenerator product, we started punting an email back and forth containing all the issues we had with EJB. And there were many. Before we knew it we ended up with 101 howlers. In this article we present an edited version of the email. It isn't a complete list and there may be some overlapping issues. If there is enough interest we will turn it into a more formal analysis.
Before you flame us for chasing after your sacred cow with a big stick, all three of us have belonged to the "pro-Java" lobby since Java was in its first beta, and we still do. We have evangelised Java at every company we have worked at. However, EJB just presents so much that is wrong and messed up that we felt we had to speak out.

Getting Started
Creating a new class with Gradekeeper takes only a few minutes. When you double click the Gradekeeper icon, the program will create a new class. Before you enter any students or assignments, you should take a moment to set up a few things. Keep in mind that you can change these options at any time.
