Also, the TA can provide flexible functions like: supplementary service, call screening, speed dial and global call function to meet user’s requirements. The digital port with the RS232 link can be connected to PC to support data communication with remote site. It supports many protocol selection such as V.110, V.120, X.75, X.25 on D channel, PPP (Point-toPoint Protocol), MLPPP (Multi-Link PPP), BACP (Bandwidth Allocation Control Protocol) / BOD (Bandwidth On Demand) function. With the MLPPP, the entire 128k ISDN bandwidth can be used to access the Internet. The BOD function can utilize dynamic bandwidth demand under MLPPP connection. Under MLPPP data connection, the TA will automatically release one B channel for voice communication when the user picks up the phone to make a call and returns to two B channels for MLPPP when the phone hangs up. With the BACP function, the 128k capacity of ISDN can be utilized fully. The TA is equipped with channel bundling feature which allows the user to use both B channels to maximize the 128k bandwidth for data transmission. The TA complies with ITU-T Q.921, Q.931 for D channel protocol, and provides switching type selections
  • Programming Lego Robots using NQC
  • The Lego MindStorms, CyberMaster, and Spybotics robots are wonderful new toys from which a wide variety of robots can be constructed, that can be programmed to do all sorts of complicated tasks. Unfortunately, the software that comes with the robots is, although visually attractive, rather limited in functionality. Hence, it can only be used for simple tasks. To unleash the full power of the robots, you need a different programming environment. NQC is a programming language, written by Dave Baum, which was especially designed for the Lego robots. If you have never written a program before, don't worry. NQC is really easy to use and this tutorial will tell you all about it. Actually, programming the robots in NQC is a lot easier than programming a normal computer, so this is a chance to become a programmer in an easy way. Writing your first program In this chapter I will show you how to write an extremely simple program. We are going to program a robot to move forwards for 4 seconds, then backwards for another 4 seconds, and then stop. Not very spectacular but it will introduce you to the basic idea of programming. And it will show you how easy this is. But before we can write a program, we first need a robot. Building a robot The robot we will use throughout this tutorial is a simple version of the top-secret robot that is described on page 39-46 of your constructopedia. We will only use the basis chassis. Remove the whole

  • eXtc Web Developer Overview
  • eXtc Web Developer (EWD) is a very high productivity, enterprise-grade platform for developing web applications. It includes an advanced but extremely easy to use Ajax Framework, allowing sophisticated, modern web applications to be built almost as quickly and simply as static web pages. EWD has been designed to be technology-independent, and is potentially capable of working with any web application front-end environment (eg PHP, Java Server Pages, ASP.Net), any scripting language and any database. Background There are numerous technologies for developing web applications, all of which have their pros and cons, and each with their own supporters and detractors. There are mainstream, non-proprietary and/or Open Source technologies such as PHP and Java Server Pages (JSP), and there are proprietary technologies such as .Net. The choice of technology will usually be a result of issues such as performance, cost, available skills, corporate strategy or independent technical advice. Although the end product of these technologies is HTML and JavaScript, the mechanics and methodology needed to program and use these technologies are very different. It is very difficult to change your mind and change technologies once you have committed to one approach. Programming staff will tend to be skilled in the technology you’ve chosen, and changing technologies involves significant retraining and/or re-recruitment of staff. eXtc Web Developer (EWD) completely changes this situation and allows you to develop your web applications in a way that is independent of your web application run-time technology, and allows you to focus on what you are trying to do, rather than
  • Using Cluster Analysis for Deriving Menu Structures for Automotive Mobile Multimedia Applications Paper
  • This paper describes the cluster analysis technique and how it can be used to support menu interface design for in-vehicle multimedia applications. Cluster analysis and similar types of classifying techniques have proven effective for developing simple menu interfaces. This paper extends the use of the cluster analysis technique to a more complex system that consists of 201 generic functions. These functions are representative of those being incorporated into near-term multimedia products. Study results show promise for using cluster analysis as a tool for incorporating the user’s organizational structure into the design of a complex menu architecture. Cluster analysis may also benefit the automotive menu designer by providing a means for partitioning menu tasks into chunkable units that can be easily accessed by the driver in single glances.
