  • IBM ViaVoice SDK SMAPI Developer's Guide
  • The IBM ViaVoice SDK for Windows, Linux and Macintosh(R) provides programmers with the necessary tools to develop applications that incorporate speech. It includes a robust set of application programming interfaces (APIs) that allows an application to access speech resources. It contains several utilities that enable developers to define and manage what the user can say within an application. There are also several sample programs that can help programmers as they develop their applications for speech. Finally, there are distributable runtime elements that are included with an application that uses IBM ViaVoice. IBM SMAPI supports only speech recognition functions. The SMAPI interface set is the native interface for the ViaVoice engine. This section contains a description of the overall architecture of ViaVoice. The heart of a speech recognition system is known as the speech recognition engine. The speech recognition engine recognizes speech input and translates it into text that an application understands. The application decides what to do with the recognized text. It can transcribe it literally for dictation, or it can act on it for commands. Applications can access the speech recognition engine through a speech recognition API. For ViaVoice, this API is known as the Speech Manager API, or SMAPI, for short. SMAPI is a conventional API. This means that the API is defined as part of the resource; in this case, SMAPI is defined as part of the speech engine. With an API, speech becomes a resource to all applications, just like any system resource (mouse, video, and so on). Any
  • The Da Vinci Code Games Cheats Hints & Trainer and Unlockables PC Guide
  • The Da Vinci Code really stirred the waters for the whole world. Not only did the book quickly become a bestseller and the movie staring Tom Hanks got on the lips of all people, but also the gaming industry benefited from this. Such a plot was bound to create the setting for an entertaining adventure. The only difference between the game’s storyline and the book and movie is the absence of the Oscar winner actor Tom Hanks. The game also brings some additional content (you’ll have a small puzzling surprise even if you enter the official site, not to mention the game) to the story to pad up the adventure. Although the variety of the puzzles is satisfactory, The Da Vinci Code can’t really be considered a must have adventure game, but the soundtrack surely makes you believe that. For those of you that already got the game, don’t worry, it will prove an appealing experience and if by any chance you need a little help, check up on the following cheats. The developers thought of it all and made your little cheating get a little easier than usually. All you need to do is choose “Codes” from the “Options” menu and then enter the desired code. Vitruvian Man – enables God mode. You’ll have to enter it for both Robert and Sophie as the game ends if either one of them dies. Sacred Feminine – doubles the amount of health for your character. Phillips Exeter – enables one hit fist
  • STXM 5.3.2 User Manual
  • In Scanning Transmission X-ray Microscopy (STXM) a micro focused soft x-ray beam is generated by a zone plate, illuminates the sample and the transmitted x-rays are detected. Transmission images are obtained by a raster scan of the sample. Spectra are obtained in point, line or image mode by acquiring signal at multiple photon energies. The 5.3.2STXM is an interferometrically controlled device mounted on a dedicated bending magnet beamline. The user controls both the beamline and the microscope from a single computer. The primary signal measured in STXM is transmitted intensity (I) as a function of energy (spectra), or position (images). This signal, when converted to optical density (OD), is sensitive to sample thickness, density and composition, according to the following equation. (Io: incident photon flux intensity) where ? is the linear absorption coefficient, t is the thickness, µ is the mass absorption coefficient and ? is the density. The useful range of OD is from 0.1 to 3. If there is too little absorption (sample too thin) the signal is lost in the noise. If the absorption is too great, then various artifacts dominate the observed signal, which is no longer quantitative. For organic material with a density of 1 samples need to be between 50 and 300 nm. At higher energy edges or lower density samples, somewhat thicker samples are optimum. Measuring a raster scanned set of pixels and converting with the incident flux (measured through a hole), gives an x-ray OD image at a single photon energy. Changing the photon
  • A Spanish Stemming Algorithm Implementation in PROLOG and C#
  • A stemming algorithm is a technique used in Information Retrieval (IR) and some other applications of Natural Language Processing (NLP), which removes suffixes from a word in order to obtain a stem or base form which could be easily matched in databases or documents (Jurafsky 2000). Its use is based on the premise that two words with the same stem have very close semantic content. The several possible variations of the derivatives, inflected forms, gender and number changes, and other phenomena, make the grouping of all the variants under a common stem advisable. Applications that do not take these effects into account may end up with difficulties when comparing queries and documents, or dispersal effects in word frequency calculations. The Improved Snowball Spanish Stemming Algorithm This work is based on the Spanish stemming algorithm published by the Snowball project (Snowball 1999). The algorithm starts extracting sections from a word and labeling them as RV and R2. RV is defined as the region of the word that starts after the third letter, or null if not exists. To define R2, R1 needs to be defined. R1 is the region after the first non-vowel following a vowel, or null if not exists. For example, in the word precios, the first non-vowel following a vowel would be the c. Therefore, R1 would be ios. Similarly, in the word bell?simo, the first non-vowel following a vowel is the first l, therefore R1 would be given by l?simo. R2, on the other hand, is a region that starts

  • Web 2.0: Building Online Communities Using Social Networking Technologies
  • Over the past three years, Internet web sites have been evolving into a series of platforms organizing content and communications among individuals and organizations for the purpose of social networking. Sites like MySpace, YouTube and Wikipedia have shifted online activities from “browsing” to collaborating, interacting and personalizing. MySpace boasts over 100 million accounts, YouTube serves an average of 100 million video streams per day and Wikipedia contains over 1.7 million articles in English edited by users from all over the world. As a result, web design and organizational thinking in this new era needs to be more focused on building event-driven experiences, rather than simply designing information silos ammended with numerous hyperlinks. But how do consumers and businesses keep up with these changes and more importantly how do they exploit the new technologies in ways that benefit customers, employees, and even their industry? This issue of Educational Update is designed for that very purpose. WEB 2.0 Technologies Web 2.0 is the collection of server-based solutions that have allowed the web to become a publishing platform. Instead of the traditional one-way form of web authoring, these solutions invite all Internet users to share, collaborate, and contribute in the process of website development. Users now have an increased ability to contribute text, bookmarks, photos, audio, videos and more to many different websites. This ease of access to web content alters the way users interact with the new world wide web. Users can now build an online social network where community members contribute content, share
  • 2009 VOLKSWAGEN JETTA TDI Information
  • The Jetta ushers in two important new features this year, a station wagon and a new, 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder TDI diesel engine. The sedan can also have its front wheels powered by a 2.5-litre 5-cylinder or a turbocharged 2.0-litre 4-cylinder. The Jetta Wagon cannot be ordered with the 2.0-litre turbocharged gasoline engine. Interior and trunk The cabin is easy to access but the wide doorsills collect dirt and grime. The front seats are very comfortable, and drivers can easily find a good driving position thanks to the telescopic steering wheel and seat height adjustment. The slide adjustment lever should be on the door-side of the seat or, even better, run the width of the seat to make it easier to shift the seat before getting in. The rear seat is comfortable for two adults. Legroom is good but headroom is tight for tall people. The folding seatback has a 60/40 split, and the leather package adds a ski pass-through. When the seatback is folded it slopes up a bit towards the front, so it doesn’t form a flat floor with the trunk of the sedan, or the cargo floor of the wagon. As is customary with Volkswagen, the sedan’s trunk is very spacious. However, the opening is a bit small. The lid has outside hinges. There’s a small dual grocery-bag hook below the upper part of the trunk. The dimensions of the cargo area in the wagon are generous: 106 cm behind the rear seatbacks when they’re up, 178 cm when they’re folded, 100 cm
  • Using molecular graphics software to create geometry
  • Several PDB viewers, including Chimera and Pymol, are able to export molecular representations as VRML files. VRML files can then be converted to a file type that can be imported directly into the 3D application of your choice. By default, Maya is able to open/import .obj, .fbx, .mel, .ma and .mb files (among others). Plugins can be installed to import a number of other 3d file types, but as of yet there is no direct way to import VRML files into Maya. First, we’ll explore the functionality of Chimera and export VRML files of the reovirus attachment protein sigma1, then we’ll use the ‘multiscale model’ option in Chimera to export the reovirus core as VRML. We will then use PyMOL to create a cartoon protein representation and export it to VRML. Using Chimera to Export VRML Surfaces & Ribbons: Open PDB ID ‘1KKE’ using Chimera’s ‘Fetch by ID’ command under the File menu. To download any PDB directly, you can go to http://www.rcsb.org. Chimera can also be downloaded for free from the UCSF Chimera website (http://www.cgl.ucsf.edu/chimera/). By default, the molecule is seen as a wire model. You can tumble the model using the left mouse button (LMB). The right mouse button (RMB) allows use to zoom in, and the middle mouse button (MMB) pans.
