Download PDFInstalling Fedora Core 1There are three basic parts to installing FC: downloading and creating CDs, the initial installation process, and final setup. Fedora Core comes as a series of three ISO files, each about 650 MB in size. After downloading and verifying the files, you'll want to put them onto CDs. Most every version of Windows comes with CD-burning software, so I won't belabor that process here. It's not quite as straightforward on a Linux box, though, so I'll provide explicit details for creating CDs with Linux.
Once you've got your three CDs, it's time to install. The first CD is bootable, so, assuming that your machine can boot from a CD, you just stick it in and restart the machine. A wizard starts, first offering to check the CDs for errors, and then guiding you through about 16 screens that allow you to configure your machine and set up preferences. Most of these screens can be navigated simply by clicking "Next", as the wizard will detect and display the appropriate choice for you.
After completing the wizard, the installation starts, and you'll be prompted to insert CD #2 and #3 when necessary. Once all the files have been transferred and the system has been installed, the machine will restart and you'll spend a few more minutes making a few last tweaks and choosing settings. Upon completion, you've got a Linux box ready to go.

This guide was designed to be used with one of the standard templates available on the File Exchange Select Template web page.
What is File Exchange?
This section provides a general overview of File Exchange, and then explains template structure and use.
eBay File Exchange overview
This section explains the requirements and qualification necessary to use the File Exchange templates, and then presents a general workflow.
File Exchange requirements and qualifications
File Exchange allows you to create listings offline using a standard flat-file format, and then easily bulk upload and manage a large number of listings and the resulting sales reports.
The File Exchange tool helps you quickly and efficiently:
• Create new listings
• Confirm there are no errors in your listing files before posting them
• Revise active listings
• End active listings
• Download sales reports
• Issue refunds
• Mark items as shipped
• Leave feedback.
File Exchange is the ideal tool if you:
• Are already familiar with the eBay listing process
• Have a lot of inventory items you want to list on eBay
• Use software, such as Microsoft® Excel, Access or another program to manage your inventory and you want to use it to create a listing file for eBay
• Are familiar with flat files and want to batch list several items in a single file.
Using File Exchange involves meeting certain eBay account qualifications and computer system requirements.
Qualifications
To use File Exchange, you must:
• Be registered on eBay for at leastDeveloping Secure Web ApplicationsAlthough traditional firewalls have effectively prevented network-level attacks, most future attacks will be at the application level, where current security mechanisms are woefully inadequate. Application-level security vulnerabilities are inherent in a Web application’s code, regardless of the technology in which the application is implemented or the security of the Web server and backend database on which it is built. A recent advisory published by Internet Security Systems (see the “Internet Resources” sidebar, p. 44) claims that 11 widely deployed shopping cart applications are vulnerable to a simple attack that lets hackers pur- chase goods for much less than their listed price. Worryingly, the attack does not require particular technical skill; it suffices to save the shopping cart’s HTML confirmation form to disk, use a text editor to modify the price of the goods (stored in a hidden form field), and load the HTML form back into the browser.
Application-level security vulnerabilities are well known, and many articles discuss ways to avoid them. Fixing a single occurrence of a vulnerability is usually easy. However, the massive number of interactions between different components of a dynamic Web site makes application-level security challenging in general. Despite numerous efforts to tighten application-level security through code review and other software engineering practices, many professionally designed Web sites still suffer from serious application-level security holes. This evidence suggests a need for higher-level tools and techniques to address the problem.
Traditionally, the task of preventing unauthorized activity at the application protocol level has been left to network firewalls. It interprets and implements commands entered by the user using the system’s infrared remote control. These commands are relayed to the control module via the system’s infrared sensors mounted in the screen modules. It also distributes power to the system and detects the vehicle’s ignition state via a sense wire running from CN1 to the vehicle’s ignition switch. This enables it to limit battery drain whilst the vehicle is not in use. The control module receives audio and video inputs from the DVD Player via connector CN1 and from the vehicle’s TV tuner (if fitted) via connector CN2. It is also able to receive a further audio/video input and supply a low-level two-channel audio output via CN3.
Technical Description:
A micro-controller in the Control Module supplies and controls the power to the system via an I 2 C bus. On receipt of a power-on command from the Infrared Controller it performs a simple system check and then sends commands to other parts of the system to bring them on line. When a screen has been selected using the infrared remote control the Control Module identifies the selected screen and displays on it a menu providing the user with access to the functions detailed below: “Independent switching of three Audio-Visual inputs (DVD, TV and AUX) “Video manipulation (Colour, brightness, contrast and aspect ratio of the display.) “Audio processor (Bass, Treble and Volume) “On-Screen instructions language selection “Switch on/off individual screen displays The ControlThe Color Guide and GlossaryColor communicates. Color sells. Color is the sizzle that drives the sale of virtually every consumer product in the world. It evokes a wide range of emotions that draw the buyer to the product. As design, graphics, and imaging professionals, we know that color is a crucial part of the selling process because it is such an important part of the buying decision. If we use color effectively in the manufacturing and marketing of an item, potential buyers will perceive added value in that product.
These GATF test images demonstrate colors that must be reproduced with careful precision. If the color of skin tones, sky blue, grass green, or food items are “off” by even a small margin, the appearance of the entire image will be adversely affected.
To use color effectively, it must be kept under tight control. The color workflow begins with the designer’s ideas and the customer’s specifications. From there, these colors must be communicated among several different individuals who will render and reproduce the colors on many different devices. At each stage of production, output from the previous step becomes the input for the next process. Every exchange brings the color into a new color space—from photographic film to monitor RGB to CMYK process proofing and printing on a variety of systems. And every evaluation is made by a different viewer under new viewing conditions.
So, how do we ensure that our original ideas and specifications will remain intact throughout this complicated process? This book is designed to answerDesigner's Guide to Brand StrategyPrior to this Guide, I prepared a short handbook on Brand Strategy for a specific target audience and for a specific problem. Called ‘The Good Fun Guide to Brand Strategy’ it served its intended purpose by being badly written and well illustrated. However, in spite of this, many others who also read it suggested that it was a good document and one worth extending. Though perhaps being written better.
My interest is in business behaviour and the contributions of that behaviour to how a company, product or service acts and is perceived. I’ve often worked for clients in developing the final designs that ultimately shape how the customer or target individual perceives the client firm. I’ve also seen all too often the disconnect between the involved parties that help shape the client’s identity and the problems in how the client manages its design.
In writing this Guide I’ve tried to outline the basic elements to the process of design and development of brand strategy in a way that would best support the people involved in actually designing brands. This is not to say that designers can’t read eight hundred page books on Managing Brand Equity; but there are some very simple elements of developing the attributes of business behaviour, and all designers should understand their vital role in improving business behaviour.
My hope is that I’ve been able to simplify the topics involved and display them in a practical way that makes it easier for most designers to recognize where in their ownEclipse Tutorial and First ProgramJava & Eclipse Platform Oulu, Spring 2005 The Eclipse Platform is designed for building integrated development environments (IDEs) that can be used to create applications as diverse as web sites, embedded Java programs, C++ programs, and Enterprise JavaBeans.
