  • Functional Differentiation of Computer Programs
  • We present a purely functional implementation of the computational differentiation tools — the well known numeric (i.e., not symbolic) techniques which permit one to compute point-wise derivatives of functions defined by computer programs economically and exactly (with machine precision). We show how the use of lazy evaluation permits a transparent and elegant construction of the entire infinite tower of derivatives of higher order for any expressions present in the program. The formalism may be useful in various problems of scientific computing which often demand a hard and ungracious human preprocessing before writing the final code. Some concrete examples are given. The aim of this paper is to show the usefulness of lazy functional techniques in the domain of scientific computing. We present a functional implementation of the Computational Differentiation techniques which permit an effi- cient computation of (point-wise, numeric) derivatives of functions defined by computer programs. A previous version of this work has been presented at the 1998 International Conference on Functional Programming [14]. A fast and accurate differentiation is essential for many problems in applied mathematics. The derivatives are needed for all kind of approximations: gradient methods of equation solving, many sorts of asymptotic expansions, etc. They are needed for optimization and for the sensitivity and stability analysis of dynamical systems. They permit the computation of geometric properties of curves and surfaces in 3D modelling, image synthesis and animation. In the domain of differential equations, they are used not only directly, but also as an analytic tool for evaluating the numerical

  • FORD FALCON XR8 manual Road Test Report
  • After spending quite a few years in the shadows of Holden and its popular range of Commodore family cars, Ford has struck back with an exciting new range of locally produced Falcon models. The BA model Falcon represents an investment by Ford in the order of $500 million. The new models offer comprehensive styling, powertrain, suspension, interior and safety related changes, and look set to challenge Holden for sales supremacy in the family car class. The styling of the new Falcon is a big improvement over the superseded AU series; however, perhaps the most significant upgrade has taken place beneath the skin of the Falcon. Ford has introduced a range of new engine options in the Falcon that includes a 4.0 litre double overhead camshaft (DOHC) six cylinder engine, a turbocharged version of the six and a new 5.4 litre V8 engine. The new engines deliver significantly more power and torque, and thereby offering improved performance across the board for all models in the Falcon range. The new 5.4 litre V8 engine comes from Ford’s Windsor plant in Canada and is available in a number of different configurations. The standard V8 engine is called the Barra 220. It is a single overhead camshaft (SOHC) engine with three valves per cylinder that develops 220 kW of power and 470 Nm of torque. The engine that powers the XR8 evaluated for this report is a more potent DOHC unit that features four valves per cylinder. Designated the Boss 260, this engine produces a very
  • Regression Test Selection for C# Programs
  • We present a regression test selection technique for C# programs. C# is fairly new and is often used within the Microsoft .Net framework to give programmers a solid base to develop a variety of applications. Regression testing is done after modifying a program. Regression test selection refers to selecting a suitable subset of test cases from the original test suite in order to be rerun. It aims to provide confidence that the modifications are correct and did not affect other unmodified parts of the program. The regression test selection technique presented in this paper accounts for C#.Net specific features. Our technique is based on three phases; the first phase builds an Affected Class Diagram consisting of classes that are affected by the change in the source code. The second phase builds a C# Interclass Graph (CIG) from the affected class diagram based on C# specific features. In this phase, we reduce the number of selected test cases. The third phase involves further reduction and a new metric for assigning weights to test cases for prioritizing the selected test cases. We have empirically validated the proposed technique by using case studies. The empirical results show the usefulness of the proposed regression testing technique for C#.Net programs. Testing software is an important part of the production life cycle of a program. Testing is an expensive activity. Hence, appropriate testing methods are necessary for ensuring the reliability of a program. Regression testing aims to provide confidence in the correctness of a program after its
  • Toshiba Qosmio G30 Review pdf
  • When Toshiba first introduced its Qosmio sometime in ‘04 it made headlines as being in the front of notebook technology. Now their third-gen model, the G30 has come to our fair shores and we’re looking at good old Quosmio style with the latest in Intel power. As with past models, the G30 offers one of the best 17-inch wide-screen displays around, a double-layer DVD drive, and an integrated TV tuner, as well as a full complement of ports and connections, a rocking set of stereo speakers, and an unparalleled set of multimedia controls. Now while most of these features are nothing bright sparkling new to us, what you’ll get on the vast majority of systems is a very highly watered down version. The Qosmio offers true multimedia performance with a bang. If you’re looking for a full-featured digital entertainment system that’s still somehow portable, the G30 leads the pack. Seriously speaking, the G30 is a very big laptop, even for a mobile graphics cum multimedia workstation. The keyboard has large, firm keys, much akin to what a normal desktop would have, albeit with some keys being re-positioned to optimize space usage. Above the keyboard resides the most complete set of system and A/V controls we’ve seen on a laptop. Interesting points include dedicated controls for display brightness, video signal in and out, and Dolby Home Theater Download Toshiba Qosmio G30 Review pdf

  • JADE WEB SERVICES INTEGRATION GATEWAY (WSIG) GUIDE
  • This document describes the rationale behind the Web Service Integration Gateway (WSIG) and how to install, configure and use it. The WSIG (version 0.4) is a JADE add-on that provides support for bidirectional invocation of Web services from JADE agents, and JADE agent services from Web service clients. This is the first public release of this add-on and as such it should be treated as a beta that is subject to change at any time. The main body of this guide focuses on the process of starting and configuring the WSIG within a running JADE platform. Some usage examples are also provided. Please refer to the javadoc for a complete description of the APIs that allow programmatic access to the security features. All bugs, issues and feature requests should be made to the main JADE bug reporting system, or sent to the standard JADE mailing lists. Version 0.4 of the WSIG add-on was developed by the JADE Board and is only guaranteed to work with JADE release 3.3 or later. Get pdf JADE WEB SERVICES INTEGRATION GATEWAY (WSIG) GUIDE
