Introduction The goal of this tutorial is to demonstrate how simple it is to develop J2EE applications with JBoss Eclipse IDE. The sample application that will be built is a J2EE application with one session EJB and one Servlet, which computes the Fibonacci suite. The tutorial is split into several parts: • The Project: this part shows how the project is prepared (source and build path) • The EJB: this part shows how to write an EJB class with its XDoclet javadoc tags. • Generation of EJB files: this part shows how to configure the XDoclet generation configuration to generate all the EJB related files
• The Servlet and the Web-App: this part shows how to write a Servlet class with its XDoclet javadoc tags. • Generation of Servlet files: this part shows how to configure the XDoclet generation configuration to generate all the Web related files...

The service uses your QUB username and password for authentication. In order to protect your details, and the University network, the service will require you to install wireless client software on your machine. Queen’s has purchased a set number of licences so we need to record your email and staff/student number. You can still use your laptop on other networks, but you will need to disable the client software first. Once connected, you can browse the World Wide Web, and hence access your on- campus file store, and send and receive email.
Use of the service is governed by the policies as set out at:
http://www.qub.ac.uk/is/StaffComputing/ITServices/SecurityandAnti-Virus/SecurityPolicies/ This is a pilot service so users may suffer some teething problems. There may be short interruptions when new configurations are installed and when temporary equipment is being upgraded. See the webpage http://www.qub.ac.uk/is/StaffComputing/MobileComputing WirelessatQueens for information regarding any developments which may affect users. This wireless facility is in addition to the previous wireless service (through a remote server) and the laptop lending service. These are both still available in the Main and Science Libraries.

Chapter 4Deepening the Chasm: Web 2.0, Gaming, and Course Management SystemsDuring the past decade, a gap has appeared between higher education and the rest of the digital world. While academia has moved a great deal of content and activity into course management systems, the World Wide Web has developed a new architecture, usually dubbed “Web 2.0.” Around this time computer gaming has grown into a vital, global industry. Course management system(s) (CMS) have supported a very different world of computermediated communication, and nearly a decade of institutional and individual practice has deepened the difference. We argue that CMS are going to make some efforts to cross that chasm in the near future, but the overall gap is likely to persist.
We can glimpse the chasm’s current depths by outlining these two recent cybercultural movements. First, at this point in the World Wide Web’s existence, the quantitative successes of Web 2.0 are wellknown. The blogosphere continues to double in size, now aiming for 100 million active blogs. The wiki world booms, from the rise of Google’s wiki platform (Google Docs) to Wikipedia’s steady expansion (2,389,339 articles in English, as of this writing). Podcasting also grows. According to one measure, 18.5 million people listened to podcasts in 2007, an amount likely to break 30 million by the end of this year. Web 2.0based social networking
