  • Auto theft is covered under the comprehensive section of an auto insurance policy. Theft coverage applies to the loss of the vehicles as well as parts of the car such as air bags. Comprehensive coverage, which is not mandatory, also pays for fire, vandalism and weatherrelated damage including damage from flooding and earthquakes. Premium rates for comprehensive insurance are affected by the risk of loss, meaning the likelihood that an insured car will be stolen or damaged and the car’s value at the time of the loss. The dollar size of claims has been going up, reflecting the higher value of new cars on the road, the value of the cars Download
  • Conversion of Microsoft SQL/ASP applications to PostgreSQL
  • This manual was compiled by Project A Web Development as a project supported by Jim Teece. It was written by Ethan Townsend as a documented means of migrating our ADO ASP application, SIB (Siteinabox), from Microsoft SQL Server 7.0 to an open source database. SIB is a large database driven application that includes many views, stored procedures, and complex SQL executed from the ASP pages. The primary goals were to: 1) Modify the application so that it could seamlessly switch between the existing SQL Server database and the new open source database. 2) Have the ability to offload existing databases from SQL Server to the new database server. 3) Make no modifications to the existing, working SQL Server. 4) Maximize easeofuse, stability, performance, and security. The following open source database servers were installed and analyzed to determine their feasibility in replacing SQL Server: ? MySQL 4.1: The stable version of MySQL at the time of testing. ? MySQL 5: The development version of MySQL. ? PostgreSQL 7.4: ? PostgreSQL 8.0.3: ? Firebird 1.5.3: ? MaxDB 7.5: ? MaxDB 7.6: After reviewing the alternatives, we settled on PostgreSQL 8.0 for the following reasons: ? Good documentation, ? Best performance on Windows platform (using the included ODBC driver). ? Custom operators and functions allowed a compatibility layer to minimize code changes (only about 300 changes were necessary in 700,000 lines of code). ? Easy to install and use (a GUI was included and the installer was straightforward) Download pdf Conversion of Microsoft SQL/ASP applications to PostgreSQL
  • Digital Imaging Project Technical Manual
  • The 1,000,000 plant specimens stored at the National Herbarium of New South Wales are a major resource used by scientific botanists to confirm the identification of plants. The Digital Imaging project will provide an Internet- accessible electronic image bank of the herbarium collections. These data will be managed in the NSW collections database system. The images will be accessible through PlantNET on the RBG website. The first phase of the project will include all NSW native (including rare and endangered) and weedy species, subspecies and varieties. This web based database will provide a resource that can be used to confirm plant identifications by the community. This project will link images and enhance the continuing development of the EucaLink, WattleWeb and other similar projects that are part of PlantNet. It is also closely coordinated with the national Australia’s Virtual Herbarium (AVH) project being undertaken by all herbaria in Australia. The digital photographic equipment was in part funded by a “Community Access to Natural Resource Interaction” (CANRI) grant - a NSW state government initiative. This document is a technical manual of procedures involved with the use of the Nikon D1x (“DIEGO”) and the procedures required to load images into EMu. The Nikon D1x is a professional digital SLR with a 5.47 mega pixel CCD delivering resolutions as high as 3,008 x 1,960 pixels. The current set-up utilises a 35mm wide-angle lens. The camera is connected to the computer using a RC-39665 IEEE1394 6P-6P firewire cable (see the User’s Manual for further details). The “Nikon Capture

  • Creating HTML Files with Microsoft Word 2000
  • HTML is the file format that is most compatible within WebCT, as well as the World Wide Web in general. You can use Microsoft Word to simply and swiftly create your own HTML files, with or without images. Preparing Your Word Document for Web Publishing Before you convert your Microsoft Word document into an HTML file for online presentation, you must make sure that the document is exactly the way you want it to look: you must proofread your text for errors, set the title of the document, and insert images you would like to use. As you complete each step, you should save your document to avoid losing your work. Every web page should have a title, which will appear in the title bar of the web browser when the document is being viewed. To set the title of your document: 1. On the toolbar at the top of the window, go to File > Properties. You may have to click on the double arrows at the bottom of the File drop-down menu to expand the menu and see the Properties option. 2. Click on Properties. The file Properties dialog box will appear. 3. Choose the Summary tab. 4. In the Title area of the Summary tab, type in the title of your presentation. 5. Click OK. You can enhance your presentation by adding images that are relevant to the information you are presenting; in some cases, images may be an essential part. • FORD FALCON XR8 manual Road Test Report
  • After spending quite a few years in the shadows of Holden and its popular range of Commodore family cars, Ford has struck back with an exciting new range of locally produced Falcon models. The BA model Falcon represents an investment by Ford in the order of $500 million. The new models offer comprehensive styling, powertrain, suspension, interior and safety related changes, and look set to challenge Holden for sales supremacy in the family car class. The styling of the new Falcon is a big improvement over the superseded AU series; however, perhaps the most significant upgrade has taken place beneath the skin of the Falcon. Ford has introduced a range of new engine options in the Falcon that includes a 4.0 litre double overhead camshaft (DOHC) six cylinder engine, a turbocharged version of the six and a new 5.4 litre V8 engine. The new engines deliver significantly more power and torque, and thereby offering improved performance across the board for all models in the Falcon range. The new 5.4 litre V8 engine comes from Ford’s Windsor plant in Canada and is available in a number of different configurations. The standard V8 engine is called the Barra 220. It is a single overhead camshaft (SOHC) engine with three valves per cylinder that develops 220 kW of power and 470 Nm of torque. The engine that powers the XR8 evaluated for this report is a more potent DOHC unit that features four valves per cylinder. Designated the Boss 260, this engine produces a very
  • Click and Clack s Official Guide to Changing a Flat Tire PDF
  • Find a Level Place to Stop and Find the Tool You'll Need You can change a tire if you re parked on an incline, but it s much more difficult… and dangerous! So if you find yourself with a flat on a hill, DRIVE slowly to level ground. Put the transmission into Park (or put the gear shift into reverse if you have a manual transmission) AND SET THE HAND BRAKE. Now you re ready to go looking for the tools you ll need. Tip: Here s an idea… when in doubt, take a minute and check your owner s manual. (Remember that? It s that shrink-wrapped, unread booklet that s been in your glove box since you drove your car off the lot.) Tip: If, at any point in changing a flat tire, you feel like you re in over your head don't sweat it. Just grab the nearest cell phone and call for help. STEP 2: Chock a Wheel To provide an extra degree of safety, it s a good idea to put something on either side of the wheel diagonally opposite the flat tire. Since our flat is the left rear tire, chock the right front. Chocking means to put something large, like a brick, a large rock, or a mother-in-law right in front of and right behind the tire to keep it from moving. This is an extra precaution, but it s one we recommend. Download Click and Clack s Official Guide to Changing a Flat
  • Introduction to the Controller Area Network (CAN) PDF Manual
  • A controller area network (CAN) is ideally suited to the many high-level industrial protocols embracing CAN and ISO 11898 as their physical layer. Its cost, performance, and upgradeability provide for tremendous flexibility in system design. This paper presents a brief introduction to the CAN operating principles, the implementation of a basic CAN bus using Texas Instrument’s CAN transceivers and DSPs, and a discussion of the robust error detection and fault confinement mechanisms. Some of the properties of CAN, especially relating to the electrical layer and features of transceiver products, are then discussed at a tutorial level.
