OBJ is a legacy ASCII format developed by Wavefront/Alias Software.
II. What’s New?
• Support for positioned textures. The positioning of textures is now preserved upon export.
• Support for transparent materials. The transparency of materials is now exported to the OBJ file.
• Support for double-sided faces. A new option, "Export faces double-sided", has been added to the UI. This option, which allows the export of a back-side material, exports an additional face with flipped normals and reversed vertices.
• Support for object hierarchy. The OBJ output now supports a flat set membership hierarchy, meaning that the format understands which objects belong to any set. It is important to note that it does not support a tree hierarchy meaning it doesn't know if one particular set is actually a component part of another set. This limitation is a limitation of the OBJ format itself.
• Support for raster image objects. Raster images are now exported.
• Support for object visibility. Only visible objects are output to the OBJ file.
• Exported material names are now based on the name of the material in SketchUp vs. being based on the name of the underlying texture file.
• A version number has been added to the OBJ Options dialog so that you can verify you are on the latest release.
• In addition to the above, many bug fixes have been made.

Download manualMicrosoft Office 2003 Word IntroductionMicrosoft Word is an essential tool for the creation of documents. Its ease of use has made Word one of the most widely used word processing applications currently on the market. Therefore, it's important to become familiar with the various facets of this software, since it allows for compatibility across multiple computers as well as collaborative features. Word is a fairly simple program to use for completing simple tasks. However, it may be more difficult to learn how to explore the more advanced possibilities of Word.
Opening Microsoft Word:
To run Word on your computer: “Start” >> “Programs” >> “Microsoft Office” >> “Microsoft Office Word 2003.” If there is an icon of Microsoft Word available on your desktop (shaped like a square with a "W" in the middle), you can open up the program by double-clicking it, as well.
Making a New Blank Document:
When Word is opened, a new blank document should automatically open. If not, then you can begin a new blank document in a variety of ways. First, find the "New Blank Document" icon, which looks like a blank sheet of paper, located underneath the menu bar in Word in what is called the "standard toolbar." Click on the icon to bring up a new blank document.

Anything that can be drawn on a drawing board can be drawn by AutCAD. AutoCAD is an interactive drwaing system designed to permit a user to construct or edit a drwaing on a graphics display screen. It is similar to other word-processing programs except that in this case the thing being precessed is a drawing.
Download AutoCAD Tutorial Part #1Car Builder Deluxe 7.3 Macintosh OS X Native User's Guide Optimum Resource is proud to present the newest version of its award-winning program, Car Builder Deluxe. Sophisticated, yet easy to use, Car Builder Deluxe appeals to children ages 8 and up, teenagers and adults who are fascinated by cars. As “design engineers,” users build cars on screen, specifying chassis length, wheelbase, engine type, transmission, fuel tank size, suspension, steering, wheels, tires and brakes. All functional choices are interrelated and will affect the performance of the final design.
Next, users design the body of the car, now with complete pixel-by-pixel flexibility, adding windows, custom details and paint finishes. The program then tests the car in a wind tunnel and around a test track, accumulating data about top speed, cornering ability, acceleration and braking.
A complete evaluation report is displayed and users can adjust, alter, save and print designs for comparison against future creations. Car Builder Deluxe teaches principles involved in building aerodynamic, efficient and safe cars. It introduces users to computer-aided design (CAD), enhances problem-solving skills, and fosters an elementary knowledge of physics and automotive design.
Car designs and test results can be printed and stored for later use or modification.
Getting Started: Macintosh OSX

Installation Instructions:
To begin, insert the CD and use your mouse to drag the Car Builder OSX folder onto your hard drive. Only the textures required to display the current scene are held in RAM. When new textures need to appear in the scene, they are loaded from a larger and slower repository, or they are dynamically generated.
For example, textures can be pulled from disk into system RAM or downloaded from system RAM into the video RAM of a 3D accelerator. Textures can be dynamically generated by combining illumination maps with unlit source textures. QUAKE was one of the first games to implement a texture caching system that interacts closely with the 3D pipeline to cache graphics in an efficient manner (see References). DOOM cached textures as well, but its system was more of a solid- state approach, as was the data caching scheme in the 2D side-scroller ABUSE. The source code to both ABUSE and DOOM is now available; see the References at the end of this article. This article is broken into two parts. First, we’ll discuss the nature of texture maps and the issues involved in implementing a texture cache. Then, we’ll look at some concrete implementations of caching systems used in games that are currently under development.
Textures and MIP-mapping
Texture storage is all about MIP-maps. MIP-maps are prefiltered versions of a texture map stored at varying resolutions. To simplify this discussion, we will focus on MIP-maps that are square and are a power-of-two in width (1×1, 2×2, 4×4, ). We will speak of a MIP-mapADVANCE ADAPTERS INC. Download PDFTCP/IP Internetworking With gawkThis chapter provides a (necessarily) brief introduction to computer networking concepts. For many applications of gawk to TCP/IP networking, we hope that this is enough. For more advanced tasks, you will need deeper background, and it may be necessary to switch to lower-level programming in C or C++.
There are two real-life models for the way computers send messages to each other over a network. While the analogies are not perfect, they are close enough to convey the major concepts. These two models are the phone system (reliable byte-stream communications), and the postal system (best-effort datagrams).
Reliable Byte-streams (Phone Calls)
When you make a phone call, the following steps occur:
1. You dial a number.
2. The phone system connects to the called party, telling them there is an incoming call. (Their phone rings.)
3. The other party answers the call, or, in the case of a computer network, refuses to answer the call.
4. Assuming the other party answers, the connection between you is now a duplex (two-way), reliable (no data lost), sequenced (data comes out in the order sent) data stream.
5. You and your friend may now talk freely, with the phone system moving the data (your voices) from one end to the other. From your point of view, you have a direct end-to-end connection with the person on the other end.
The same steps occur in a duplex reliable computer networking connection. There is considerably more overhead in setting up the communications, but once it’s done, data moves in both directions, reliably, in sequence.
Download pdfHow to Create Point Cloud and Brickmaps for Occlusion PassesA BrickMap is a good way to speed up your render times if you have a complicated environment that also has a moving camera shot. By creating a BrickMap you no longer have to calculate the occlusion on each frame;it simply references the BrickMap file. You will want to wait to create a BrickMap pass until you have finished modeling your set,as you can't make any adjustments or changes to your set once you create the BrickMap,or else you will have to re-create it.
OK,let's start: Open your environment file.
2.Make sure the file has been cleaned up.Check for:
• Double sided
• Subdiv scheme
• Normals facing out
• Delete history
3.Go to Window>Rendering Editors>Renderman>Shared Geometric Attributes
• Click [Create]
• Click [Edit]
• Add the RenderMan setting [Dice Rasterorient] and un-check the check box to off. (This ensures even tesselation of the scene regardless of Camera position)
• Select all of the polygon geometry in your scene and click [Attach]
4. Create a new RenderManENV light from the features tab in the RenderMan render globals.
5. Set the settings to roughly:
• Shadowing = colorbleeding (or occlusion).
• Sampling Mode = sampled
• Samples = 5 2 or higher for production quality ( 024 is production quality)
• Max variation = 0 or .Zero will be the best looking but will take a long time to render.
6. Still in the features tab click the checkered Icon next to the Bake field to create armanMakeGlobalDiffuse3dPass.
