  • Ontology Maturing: a Collaborative Web 2.0 Approach to Ontology Engineering
  • Most of the current methodologies for building ontologies rely on specialized knowledge engineers. This is in contrast to real-world settings, where the need for maintenance of domain specific ontologies emerges in the daily work of users. But in order to allow for participatory ontology engineering, we need to have a more realistic conceptual model of how ontologies develop in the real world. We introduce the ontology maturing processes which is based on the insight that ontology engineering is a collaborative informal learning process and for which we analyze characteristic evolution steps and triggers that have users engage in ontology engineering within their everyday work processes. This model integrates tagging and folksonomies with formal ontologies and shows maturing pathways between them. As implementations of this model, we present two case studies and the corresponding tools. The first is about image-based ontology engineering (introducing so-called imagenotions), the second about ontology-enabled social bookmarking (SOBOLEO). Both of them are inspired by lightweight Web 2.0 approaches and allow for realtime collaboration. Within state-of-the-art semantic approaches, ontologies have emerged as the key to enable more advanced technological support for end users and their work processes, which particularly applies to knowledge work. However, current research and development concentrates more on what we can do as soon as we have ontologies—rather than having a closer look at the processes of creating and especially maintaining such domain-specific ontologies. In real-world settings these issues are crucial to fulfill the users’ needs and currently insufficiently dealt with. It is usually acknowledged that ontologies are
  • A Plan 9 Newbie's Guide
  • This is a quick-start guide to the user interface of the Plan 9 operating system based on my own experiences getting started at Coraid. For concreteness, it describes the setup actually used at Coraid. Some knowledge of UNIX and of commercial GUIs (Windows, MacOS, or recent Linux) is presumed. This is not a technical guide to Plan 9. This is only a "guide for the perplexed" to teach you just enough Plan 9 to get you started. The information given here is not complete my goal is to give you a useful subset. Thus I will skip some menu items and commands at every stage, the ones you do not need immediately. I assume that you will eventually read the official documentation Plan 9 is an experimental UNIX-like operating system developed by Bell Labs and released as open-souce freeware. It has requirements comparable to Windows 95 (e.g., 32 MB RAM on a 486) and is often used in embedded systems. That is bad Latin for, "More UNIX than the UNIXes themselves" (cf. Romanis ipsis Romanior) and sums up what Plan 9 is like. Plan 9 is based on the same ideas as early UNIX simplicity, compactness, and orthogonality but implements some of them differently, in ways that are (I would argue) closer to the spirit of UNIX than normal present-day UNIX implementations. Specifically: Instead of NFS, SAMBA, etc., there is normally just one file-sharing protocol, called 9P, and it is transparent to the user. You just carry your whole.... Download pdf A Plan 9 Newbie's

  • Metastock Tutorial - Relative Strength Comparison (RSC)
  • The Relative Strength Comparison (RSC) & Desperately Want To Keep It A Secret! Discover The Best Performing Sectors & The Strongest Stocks In Those Sectors. www.meta-formula.com We both know that, regardless of what the market is doing, there are always profitable trading opportunities. What’s more, MetaStock has the ability to identify these opportunities, assuming you know how to use it. Yet, if you’re like most people, even though you’ve invested in MetaStock, you probably don’t use it to its full potential. Within this report we’ll show you how you can find these profitable trading opportunities by using MetaStock to its full potential. You too will employ the techniques usually only exploited by the professionals. What is sector analysis? In very basic terms, sector analysis is a top down stock selection method. Market sectors expected to outperform the rest of the market are identified, and then stocks from these sectors are selected. The belief is that if you can select securities in superior sectors, these securities will perform along with their respective sectors. This follows the truth that money flows from underperforming areas of the market, to more profitable areas. This is further illustrated by Stan Weinstein who said: “… my studies have consistently shown that two equally bullish charts will perform far differently if one is from a bullish sector while the other breakout is in a bearish group. The favourable chart in the bullish group will often quickly advance 50 to 75 percent while the equally bullish chart in a

This capability displays powerful 2D tools on the Dashboard. 3D Dashboard Control Panels New 2D control panels provide easy access to layers and include controls for annotation scaling, text, dimensions, multiple leaders, tables, 2D navigation commands, object properties, and block attributes. When you select a tool from the Dashboard, the corresponding tool palette also displays, where applicable. User Interface Tool Palettes When you drag geometry to an inactive tool palette, it is automatically activated for easy placement—just give it an extra second to switch. • A new Specify Image option on the shortcut menu makes it easy to assign an image to any tool. • The location of tools on a tool palette is now saved in the tool catalog (and the profile), making it easier to share your tool palettes with others and maintain the same look and feel. • Use TPNAVIGATE to set a tool palette current at the command line (for programming purposes). • Setting Options and Customising Microsoft Excel 2002
  • Like all Microsoft Office products, Excel allows you to customise various settings to suit your own requirements. Whereas Microsoft Word has a default template called normal.dot, Excel has a special file called Excel.xlb in which your settings are stored. Note that not all settings are stored here, however - for example, each file has its own colour palette. Perhaps the most useful customisation centres around the toolbars and menus. You can decide which toolbars to display (and where you would like them positioned on the screen). If you want to, you can remove, add or rearrange the buttons on a toolbar (or the commands in a menu). You can even create your own toolbars and menus, adding either built-in commands or your own (using macros - see Writing Macros in Microsoft Excel 2003 for further information). Another common area of customisation concerns charts. You can create your own chart types and change the palette of colours used on charts. Defining your own types lets you apply a given layout to a set of charts - eg for a particular publication or thesis. While on the subject of colours, you can also modify the default colour palette used for fonts and filling cells. A further aspect of customisation centres around customised lists. A few lists are built into the system (eg the days of the week and months of the year) but you can create your own. These can then be used to fill further cells or to sort data in a particular order.
  • SAP Free Reference: Transportation (LE-TRA) Tutorial
  • Transportation is an essential element in the logistics chain. It affects both incoming and outgoing goods. Effective transportation planning and processing ensure that shipments are dispatched without delay and arrive on schedule. Transportation costs play an essential role in the calculation of the price of a product. It is important to keep these transportation costs to a minimum so that the price of a product remains competitive. Efficient transportation planning and processing helps to keep these costs down. Integration As illustrated in the following graphic, you can use the SAP transportation functions to plan and process: · Incoming shipments in Materials Management based on purchase orders and shipping notifications · Outbound shipments in Sales and Distribution based on sales orders and deliveries The graphic below illustrates this process: Download SAP Free Reference: Transportation (LE-TRA) Tutorial
