The ASP.NET team is delivering a framework for generating Web applications that can take advantage of the latest capabilities in client functionality that fall under the general banner of Asynchronous JavaScript and XML (AJAX) and Rich Interactive Applications (RIA). The new Microsoft ASP.NET AJAX addition to the .NET Framework includes a suite of JavaScript libraries (the Client Framework or Client FX) that are the foundation for creating rich behaviors and controllike functionality in the browser. ASP.NET AJAX also includes a set of a server controls and base classes for extender controls (the Server Framework or Server FX) that provides AJAX programming functionality and experiences for ASP.NET Web developers.

With the rise of model-driven development, model repositories are intended to facilitate research in model engineering and consequently in domain-specific modeling. Model repositories are central places where all kinds of modeling artifacts (e.g., meta-metamodels, metamodels, models, and possibly transformation models) are stored and coordinated. They can serve as a platform for making available the specification of metamodels to others (typically necessary for domain-specific modeling languages) and for exchanging models, as well as a resource for teaching/learning materials.

Fingerprinting is an age old concept and one that adds great value to assessment methodologies. There are several tools available for fingerprinting operating systems (nmap), Web servers (httprint), devices, etc. Each one of these tools uses a different method – inspecting the TCP stack, ICMP responses, HTTP responses. With this evolution of Web 2.0 applications that use Ajax extensively, it is important to fingerprint Ajax tools, framework or library used by a particular web site or a page. This paper describes the method of doing Ajax fingerprinting with a simple prototype serving as an example.

Migrating Atlas applications to ASP.NET AJAX sounds like a rather hard and messy task; all applications have to be changed. However, in most cases, not much effort is required for the migration. There are several reasons for this. First, the most important features of Atlas changed only marginally in ASP.NET AJAX. And second, the most convenient features already exist, not in the ASP.NET AJAX package itself but in the Atlas Control Toolkit, which is now called ASP.NET AJAX Control Toolkit.

This document outlines the key steps that are required to migrate an existing Microsoft ASP.NET AJAX application created with the RC release to work with the final (RTM) release. This document is intended to be a quick reference. For more details, download the whitepaper Changes between the ASP.NET AJAX (“Atlas”) CTP and the RC and RTM Release from the http://ajax.asp.net Web site. Note This document assumes that you have an application created with the RC release. If you are migrating an application from the CTP release, see the document “Converting Applications from ‘Atlas’ CTP to ASP.NET AJAX RTM” on the http://ajax.asp.net Web site.
