Short History of STLIn October of 1976 I observed that a certain algorithm – parallel reduction – was associated with monoids: collections of elements with an associative operation. That observation led me to believe that it is possible to associate every useful algorithm with a mathematical theory and that such association allows for both widest possible use and meaningful taxonomy. As mathematicians learned to lift theorems into their most general settings, so I wanted to lift algorithms and data structures. One seldom needs to know the exact type of data on which an algorithm works since most algorithms work on many similar types. In order to write an algorithm one needs only to know the properties of operations on data. I call a collection of types with similar properties on which an algorithm makes sense the underlying concept of the algorithm. Also, in order to pick an efficient algorithm one needs to know the complexity of these operations. In other words, complexity is an essential part of the interface to a concept.
In the late 70’s I became aware of John Backus’s work on FP. While his idea of programming with functional forms struck me as essential, I realized that his attempt to permanently fix the number of functional forms was fundamentally wrong. The number of functional forms – or as I call them now – generic algorithms is always growing as we discover new algorithms. In 1980 together with Dave Musser and Deepak Kapur I started working on a language Tecton to describeAudi TT Coupe Quick reference guideThe central locking system locks and unlocks the doors. And yes, that is Java, the platform. What began in 1995 as just another programming language is now formally known as a platform. Beginning as a platform-neutral, Internet-friendly development language, Java has evolved into a means of creating programs for just about anything. Let’s step back to the beginning and see how it came about.
Back in January 1991, a project by the name of Green began. The Green project’s purpose was to come up with a way of controlling set-top boxes, those smart cable TV access boxes. Because the hardware in the consumer devices was always changing, it became apparent to James Gosling, the “father” of Java, that C++ wasn’t appropriate for the job. As a result, the language called Oak was created; it was less susceptible to bugs and wouldn’t crash the whole system. It initially ran on a Hammer technology device called *7 (Star7). Cavorting across the touch screen was this little digital character named Duke, a helper agent, who would go off and do various tasks. (He later turned into the Java mascot.)

And many enterprise developers want to determine how these exciting new services can be leveraged within their companies. The nature of Web 2.0 services is to empower users to combine all the relevant information they can find into a single location so that they can be more productive in their work environment. In addition, end users can form ad-hoc associations with users inside and outside their organizations as part of a “social network”. And they need an easy way to track all these sources of information so that they become more productive while at the same time traversing all this new content.
Rarely in IT organizations today will one hear a statement that developers don’t have enough to do. There is always a shortage of resources to address all the business needs of the organization. For these Web 2.0 services to be accessible for the Enterprise, all the available applications and information needs to be made available to end-users in a secure, standard way. And developers need to provide tools to end users to allow them to quickly and easily assemble these services together in a meaningful way.
Oracle is the only vendor that provides a complete, integrated, and standards-based suite of products for developers to speed the rapid exposure of application and information services that can be combined with easy-to-use end-user tools to deliver Web 2.0 services for the Enterprise.

These days, business moves at lightning speed. To compete, companies must make it easy for their employees to share vital business intelligence real-time and to collaborate without restriction. But until now, network users have been bound by the limits of their wired network, and forced to settle for access only at their desk. A trend in the technology industry today is to eliminate the cable restrictions and hassle of wires by implementing a wireless network.
By choosing wireless you reduce the hassle of cable clutter, the expensive need to run cabling in the home or office and the aggravation altogether to crawl under that desk for the last time to see if that Ethernet cable is connected. A WLAN standard called IEEE 802.11b has emerged delivering speeds of up to 11 Mbps and the ability to take the power of the Internet with you. Imagine the ease of which you can setup this wireless network providing roaming access to the Internet and your network. The combined flexibility of a laptop and our Wireless card can provide some impressive changes indeed. Surf the Net while sitting on the couch during the big Sunday game. Review your stock portfolio in bed. Maybe the kids want to chat with friends on AOL out by the pool. The convenience of where and when you want to connect to your network or Internet is now yours. 1.1 BenefitsHonda Odyssey Road TestsHonda Odyssey Road Tests covers:
LIKES Wide door openings Folding third row seat headrests High standard of finish To see how the people mover class has changed and progressed, one needs to go back to the eighties. At the time most people movers were based upon commercial variants in a manufacturers range and the vehicle from a distance looked more like a delivery van with windows. Move forward to the present time and look at the new Honda Odyssey. A purpose built vehicle that since its initial release in 1996 has been constantly improved and refined.
DISLIKES Centre sash only seat belt for second row seats Slightly awkward to use auto shifter Low height of rear hatch
COMFORT The front seats are soft and comfortable although support falls away somewhat under hard cornering especially in the shoulder area. Both front seats have foldable armrests that are nicely padded and comfortable to use. The second rows are similarly comfortable with adequate legroom. The third row has a more upright seating position, not ideal for longer trips but still comfortable enough for adults.
ERGONOMICS The driving position is closer to a normal passenger car or wagon in that it is lower than the previous high perched positions of the older generation people movers. Smaller drivers will notice the front of the Odyssey drops away quite sharply making parking slightly more difficult. For more information about .Net and object oriented programming, follow the links in Appendix B.
In order to program with ArcGIS there are two products that you will need to have installed on your computer. First, you must have either ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS ArcInfo or else have the ArcGIS Engine installed. Once these one of these are installed you will be able to run the code you compile in the ArcGIS environment. The other ArcGIS product you need is the Developer Tools for Microsoft.Net that provides access to the .Net framework and the functions that ESRI has made for .Net as well as the Developer tools that install an API for ArcObjects. It is also important to make sure that your software is up to date, which you can do by checking the ESRI website to see if there are updates or service packs for your software (this tutorial was written using ArcGIS 9.2 Service Pack1).
The other major required software is a C#.Net compiler. I recommend using Microsoft Visual Studio, because ESRI has created various resources to make coding faster and easier for that environment. If you are looking for a free compiler you can try using the Microsoft Visual Studio C# Express edition, or the SharpDevelop program which is an open-source initiative. Links to these programs are provided in AppendixVolkswagen Polo SE Manual 3-Door Hatch PDFVolkswagen says that the new bodyshell has best-in-class torsional rigidity, with significantly enhanced safety qualities. The new Polo scored four stars in Euro NCAP crash tests. Everything about the body spells high quality; from the excellent paint and trim finish, to the solid feel of the doors and rear hatch when closing, and to the small panel gaps that are achieved through laser welding processes. The body, which is made from high-strength galvanized steel, carries a 12 year anti-corrosion perforation warranty. However, the Polo isn’t quite as ‘concentrated’ as it used to be. The new body, with its stylish looks, is longer, wider and taller. This has brought some welcome improvements to interior space, both for occupants and their luggage. Polo buyers can choose between three model types. There’s a base (price leader) Polo 3door, and there are S and SE variants in three and five door versions. Automatic or manual transmission is available on all models. Prices start at $19,800 for the base three-door, the S 3-door costs $20,800 and the SE 3-door is $22,500. Prices for the five-door models are $21,800 (the S) and $23,500 (the SE). Automatic transmission costs an extra $2,000. The base model comes with dual front airbags, five lap-sash seat belts and five head restraints, electro-hydraulic power steering, engine immobiliser, heated and power adjustable exterior mirrors, steering column adjustable for tilt and reach, a single CD audio system and a 60/40 split fold rear seat.

This software is one of the most popular GUI-based tools for MySQL. Most of the features of the software are geared to help the daily work of DBAs and developers. The software is rich in features and therefore this review will only highlight some of the cool capabilities.
Connection to Remote Servers
Most companies require you to use the ssh protocol to access their servers. While it is easy to setup your own ssh tunnel to connect to your remote database, it is quite cumbersome to do that. SQLYog allows you to easily do this and lets you save your secure MySQL connection. I use this all the time and I do not even think about ssh tunneling anymore.
On the downside, when I tried to connect to another database, the software opened a separate window for me. This made it difficult for me to switch from one window to another. This can be annoying if you want to compare two databases but it could also be a security measure so that you do not accidentally apply the wrong SQL statements to the wrong database.
