XDoclet simplifies continuous integration between components using attribute-oriented programming. It allows you to radically reduce development time by generating deployment descriptors and support code, allowing you to focus on application logic code. If you are a J2EE development veteran, then you realize keeping code in sync with deployment descriptors can be a drag. Often you may need to reuse components with other applications or in other environments like other application servers or with other database systems. You need to keep separate deployment descriptor for each application/environment combination, even if only one or two lines of the large deployment descriptor changes, you need to have a deployment descriptor for every possible configuration.
This can really slow down development. At times you may feel you spend more time syncing deployment descriptors than writing code. XDoclet facilitates automated deployment descriptor generation. As a code generation utility, it allows you to tack on metadata to language features like classes, method, and fields using what looks like JavaDoc tags. Then it uses that extra metadata to generate related files like deployment descriptor and source code. This concept has been coined attribute-oriented programming (not to be confused with aspect-oriented programming, the other “AOP”). XDoclet generates these related files by parsing your source files similar to the way the JavaDoc engine parses your source to create JavaDoc documentation. In fact earlier versions of XDoclet relied on JavaDoc. *4Suite: version 0.11 or more recent. The software should work under UNIX and Windows. Unfortunately, Macintosh users must wait for someone to port the XPath library of 4Suite to that platform, or wait for 4Suite-0.11.1 that will have a pure Python XPath parser
Installation is quite simple. Download and unpack the archive, then run the command python setup.py install, which will copy the library to the appropriate location in your PYTHONPATH. To test the installation, run the following command:

WSDL provides the means of giving descriptions to Web services. These descriptions are normally stored in a UDDI registry so that they can be looked up by other services. For the sake of simplicity in our examples, we will consider a standalone implementation without the use of a UDDI registry. Much of the tutorial will be focused on how to create a custom brush starting with the Paint Effects base brushes that ship with Maya. Paint Effects are ideal for situations in which a very large number of objects need to be seen from a distance (in this particular situation, the number of lipids on the surface of the membrane). Lets start by designing the brush.
Creating a Base Stroke
Designing a custom Paint Effects brush requires the adjustment of a myriad sliders and attributes. The process is not terribly straight-forward. The best way to learn is get an idea of how the paint effects controls work and then experiment. As you gain experience you'll find yourself becoming more comfortable with creating brushes. However, no matter how much experience you have, working with Paint Effects will almost always come down to trial and error with all of the various settings. This section of the tutorial is a walk-through of a typical custom brush design exercise. I will explain the controls that I use and what I hope to achieve when adjusting their settings. There are many ways to create a particular effect using a brush, the methods I describe are just a few.
