  • MrSID Macintosh Stand Alone Viewer
  • The MrSID Stand Alone Viewer displays images that have been encoded into the MrSID format. Each MrSID image file contains data from multiple resolutions stored in a single pixel database. The MrSID Viewer starts viewing an image at the smallest resolution view, and allows complete control to zoom, pan, navigate and investigate through larger and smaller zoom levels. The Viewer uses Selective Decompression” to decode only the portion of an image necessary for viewing. This makes rapid viewing of large images possible, while maintaining maximum image quality. With the MrSID Stand Alone Viewer, you can also export any part of the image to TIFF at any resolution. The MrSID Stand Alone Viewer is available at no charge for individual use, so that the largest possible number of people have the ability to view MrSID imagery. • Installing and using the Message Box Knowledge Object for Authorware
  • This document assumes you have a copy of the Message Box KO installer. You can download the Message Box KO from the internet at: http://www.learningconsulting.com. Please contact AEC Consulting directly, for more information. The Message Box KO works with Authorware 5, 6 and 6.5. Please make sure that Authorware is installed and/or available before launching the installer. The installer for the Message Box KO is very simple. The only prompts that you typically need to follow are the “Next” and “Finish” buttons. To install the Message Box KO: 1. Double-click the Message Box KO installer file. 2. In the Welcome screen, click Next to install the KOs shown in Figure 1, below. 3. The Message Box KO installer tries to automatically find the location where Authorware is installed. If it is unable to determine this location, you may receive a prompt similar to Figure 2, to manually locate the Authorware folder. Otherwise, the installer immediately copies the necessary files to appropriate Authorware subfolders, see Figure 3. If the installer copies the Message Box KO files to a location other than the intended Authorware folder (i.e. Authorware is installed in more than one location), contact your vendor for more information. • Using Cluster Analysis for Deriving Menu Structures for Automotive Mobile Multimedia Applications Paper
  • This paper describes the cluster analysis technique and how it can be used to support menu interface design for in-vehicle multimedia applications. Cluster analysis and similar types of classifying techniques have proven effective for developing simple menu interfaces. This paper extends the use of the cluster analysis technique to a more complex system that consists of 201 generic functions. These functions are representative of those being incorporated into near-term multimedia products. Study results show promise for using cluster analysis as a tool for incorporating the user’s organizational structure into the design of a complex menu architecture. Cluster analysis may also benefit the automotive menu designer by providing a means for partitioning menu tasks into chunkable units that can be easily accessed by the driver in single glances.
