  • Social Marketing Tactics and How To Use Them
  • Web 2.0 is a general term applied to any website that reacts to the input and activity of its users, such as a blog, a MySpace profile, a forum, or a Squidoo lens. Social Networking is best defined as the regular interaction of people for some common cause. Of course there is really nothing new about social networking, and it’s something many of us do every day offline, especially in schools or in the workplace. But as a marketing trend this concept is growing more and more popular online. This is because unlike most high schools, colleges, or workplaces, the Internet is filled with millions of individuals who are looking to meet other Internet users and develop both business and personal relationships. There are many portals for social networking on the web. Social networking websites are pretty much communities of Internet users that can range from small and tightly focused portals to enormous groups of people who all have different backgrounds and interests. So a Web 2.0 resource, or social networking site can exist on the basis of anything from hobbies, religion, education, business, or politics. And the idea behind getting involved in such a site is to meet new people who fit into one of two categories: 1. People who have something you need. 2. People who need something you have. There’s a little more to it than this of course but the above two categories basically sum up the entire purpose of participating in social networking and Web 2.0 systems. You might

  • Microsoft Vista/Office 2007/Office 2008 Implementation Planning Overview
  • The ITS desktop support teams (Blue/Green) and other ITS staff members have started preparations for the introduction of Microsoft Vista and Office 2007/2008 to campus. This document summarizes the implementation plan. This plan description will be revised as needed. Campus Move to Microsoft Vista OS The Blue and Green Desktop Support Teams have been testing the Microsoft Windows Vista Enterprise Edition OS for several months. The present plan is to begin to introduce the OS on new college-purchased PCs beginning late in the second quarter of 2008, probably with new system replacements starting in May or June. There is no plan to have a “forklift” introduction. Instead, the OS will be introduced as systems are replaced on their normal cycle. ITS has been purchasing “Vista compatible” systems for several months in anticipation of the upgrade, but has been installing Windows XP Professional Edition on those computers. These computers are ones that have adequate memory, disk space, and performance to support an upgrade to the Vista OS. It is possible that these Vista compatible computers will be upgraded from Windows XP to Vista, largely upon request and depending upon compatibility issues that could be uncovered. Current systems that are not presently equipped for Vista but that could be upgraded to a Vista compatible level will be considered for upgrade if the cost of doing so reasonably improves the utility of the system over its remaining life cycle. Older systems that are not presently equipped to support Vista and cannot be upgraded to a Vista-compatible
  • Building Loyalty in a Web 2.0 World
  • Over the last decade, a radical shift has occurred in the way customers interact with the marketplace. The traditional mode of using defined channels of communication has given way to a broad array of connection points.Along with this shift, today’s customers have come to expect a higher degree of transparency from firms providing products upon which they rely. Companies that are unsure how to engage in the new paradigm often meet this expectation of transparency with mixed signals. As traditional channels erode, and a broader community ecosystem emerges, companies must rethink their loyalty equation by understanding how to engage in the new environment. The new environment can drive even higher degrees of loyalty through enhanced customer involvement in many crucial aspects of an organization, including customer support, product management and engineering and marketing. Forward thinking companies realize that engaging in this new ‘web 2.0’ world requires more than just enabling new channels of communication, it requires a set of powerful tools to coordinate and manage every relevant interaction while providing intelligent feedback to all participants.Architected to enable this new paradigm, a trusted knowledge management suite can serve as a core technology that drives better interactions with your customer ecosystem by building a collaborative environment in which insights, ideas and knowledge can be shared to the benefit of all. Ultimately, this vibrant knowledge sharing leads to greater customer satisfaction and increased loyalty. The role of the customer evolves For decades, the support and marketing relationship between a company and its customers was well defined. Companies historically
  • The A/UX Web Server Deployment Guide A SnakeOil Labs White Paper
  • If you’re one of the four, five, maybe even six people out there on the Internet who want to set up an A/UX web server, then this guide is for you. To make things simpler, this document follows a few standard conventions. Text in Courier is reserved for terminal sessions. This provides a sample walkthrough of commands to type and their usual responses. For example: A larger courier font is used to denote relevant commands mid-sentence, such as newconfig, in order to separate the command from the rest of the text. File and path names, such as /etc/inittab, are in bold. Individual references to filenames without paths like inittab aren’t. Note: The famous Mac Bomb symbol is used to denote a tip or note. Small notes like these provide hints and tips as well as insight drawn from bitter experience. Make sure you read them! One small point; there are many instances where command lines are preceded by either a # or $ symbol. The # refers to the root user and the $ symbol refers to a regular user. In either case, don’t type the symbol. To make matters even more confusing, most of the configuration files used in this guide use leading # symbols to define comments. It’s confusing but it’s the UNIX convention, not ours. Don’t worry, you’ll get used to it. Credit Where Credit’s Due This guide simply wouldn’t exist without the prior work of many others. In particular, I’d like to thank Scott from aux-penelope for letting me use his screenshots
  • GT 050Q Quick Guide
  • The GT 050Q is a fixed-mount tabletop drive with a quad interface, utilizing FW400, FW800, USB 2.0 and eSATA connections. Depending on which port(s) your computer has, you can connect the GT 050Q in a number of ways. You’re probably already familiar with FireWire 400 and USB, so we’ll tell you a little about FireWire 800 and eSATA. FireWire 800 Facts • FireWire 800 supports speeds up to 800 Mb/sec, twice as fast as FireWire 400. • If your computer does not have built-in FireWire 800, you'll need a PCI card to achieve a true FireWire 800 connection. • Most 800 ports are Bi-Lingual, which means they speak both FireWire 400 and FireWire 800. • If you connect a 400 device to an 800 device, you will be running at 400 speed maximum. • FireWire is forward-compatible and back-compatible, but the bus always runs at the speed of the slowest link. • Beta cables are used to connect 800 devices to 800 devices. • Bi-Lingual cables are available to connect 400 devices to 800 devices. • Bi-Lingual cables have a 9-pin Bi-Lingual connector at one end and a 4-pin or 6-pin FireWire 400 connector at the other end eSATA Facts • eSATA is an external interface technology that grew from the internal SATA I interface. • The GT 050Q’s eSATA port supports speeds up to 1.5 Gb/sec (150 MB/sec), much faster than FireWire 400 or FireWire 800. • Shielded eSATA cables up to 2 meters in length are available. • eSATA cables are different than SATA I cables, they are shielded and cannot
  • Cyber Insecurity Report
  • No software is perfect. This much is known from academia and every-day experience. Yet our industry knows how to design and deploy software so as to minimize security risks. However, when other goals are deemed more important than security, the consequences can be dangerous for software users and society at large. Microsoft’s efforts to design its software in evermore complex ways so as to illegally shut out efforts by others to interoperate or compete with their products has succeeded. The monopoly product we all now rely on is thus both used by nearly everyone and riddled with flaws. A special burden rests upon Microsoft because of this ubiquity of its product, and we all need to be aware of the dangers that result from reliance upon such a widely used and essential product. CCIA warned of the security dangers posed by software monopolies during the US antitrust proceeding against Microsoft in the mid and late 1990’s. We later urged the European Union to take measures to avoid a software “monoculture” that each day becomes more susceptible to computer viruses, Trojan Horses and other digital pathogens. • Importing Microsoft Access tables to SAS Datasets
  • There are several ways to import Microsoft Access tables into SAS. They are as follows: 1) Using SAS/ACCESS to ODBC: 1) SAS/CORE, SAS/BASE and SAS/ACCESS interface to ODBC licensed and installed at your site. 2) The Microsoft Access ODBC driver must be installed and configured on your PC. 3) Use the following code to read the Microsoft Access file into a SAS dataset. Libname sasuser ‘c:foo’; Proc SQL; Connect to ODBC (prompt); Create table sasuser.TEST As select * from connection to ODBC (select * from tablename); disconnect from odbc; quit; - ‘Prompt’will activate a pop-up window where you can choose your data source name. Alternatively, you can use ‘DSN=’in the parenthesis and specify your data source name. - ‘sasuser.TEST’ is the name of the SAS dataset you will create from this query. - ‘tablename’must be the specific unit of data that we are reading. For Microsoft Access the DSN references the database(.MDB file), and the ‘tablename’refers to the table in the database. Download pdf Importing Microsoft Access tables to SAS Datasets
  • 2002 and Up Nissan Altima Short Throw Shift Adapter Installation Manual
  • The theory behind the TWM Performance Short Throw Shift Adapter is to adjust the point at which the shifter cable attaches to the shift actuator on the transmission. This adapter is fixed onto the stock shift actuator and the shift cable is attached to the adapter rather than the actuator. The new point of attachment is placed closer to the pivot or fulcrum of the actuator thus reducing the distance the shifter (inside the car) must move in order to engage a gear. Step 1: Remove the four bolts which secure the airbox to the chassis. Step 2: Unclip the MAF from the intake tube and remove the rubber tube connected to the air box. Then remove the airbox from the vehicle. Step 3: Remove the cotter pin that secures the shift cable to the shift actuator. Step 4: Remove the shift cable from the old shift cable mounting point. Step 5: Using the following diagram, place the TWM Performance Short Throw Shift Adapter onto the shift actuator. Download pdf 2002 and Up Nissan Altima Short Throw Shift Adapter Installation Manual
