  • How Web 2.0 Affects SEO Strategy
  • "Web 2.0" was originally coined by O'Reilly Media in 2004. "Web 2.0" is also one of the most overused and abused terms on Wall Street, sublimely crafted to reinvigorate investing in online entities that remain rooted in Web 1.0 technologies. It's not enough anymore to deliver goods as promised from an e-commerce site. Merely informing your online audience of breaking news is passé, and amusing visitors with quirky applets is seriously behind the times. To succeed on the Web today, you must engage your visitors so they return repeatedly. Toward this end, some Web 2.0 platforms could be your site's savior; others could be its online demise. Some Web 2.0 content management systems, such as blogs and wikis, are primed and relatively optimal for search engine visibility straight out of the box. Google, in particular, seems to adore blogs. Blogs and wikis have essentially replaced outdated forums, third-party product reviews, comments in guest books, and user groups because specific elements inherent

  • A LATEX survival guide for Unix systems
  • This document is designed to provide new users of LAEX with a reference for the local features not documented in the manual (The LATEX Book, Lesley Lamport, Addison Wesley 1987); it takes the place of the Local Guide referred to in the book. For a general introduction to LATEX, you are referred to the companion manual Essential LATEX ++, mostly by Jon Warbrick. For a general introduction to the concepts of the TEX software distribution, see Joachim Schrod’s Components of TEX. Readers of this document will normally be staff or students who have either taught themselves LATEX, or are being taught it as part of a course. Completely new users should read Essential LATEX ++ £rst, to familiarize themselves with basic concepts. Most of this manual is for reference purposes, so do not read it as a tutorial text! LATEX runs on a variety of computers at many different sites. This document tells you how to use LATEX on Unix computers. It is not about LATEX itself, which is described by the manual—LATEX: A Document Preparation System, published by Addison-Wesley, available at the book shop. If you have a question that you can’t answer by reading the manual and this document, ask the local support team. Download pdf A LATEX survival guide for Unix systems
  • Photo to Movie 3.2 (Mac OS X) Editorial Guide
  • Photo to Movie 3.2 (Mac OS X) lets Macintosh users turn digital photographs into QuickTime movie slide shows quickly and easily. This revolutionary new tool incorporates a powerful version of the “Ken Burns effect” to bring photos alive with motion. Photo to Movie also lets you add music tracks, voice narration, and a variety of slide-to-slide transitions. Photo to Movie files can be burned to DVD, posted on the Web, and even emailed. Photo to Movie uses a special algorithm to optimize each frame, nearly eliminating flicker when played on a TV. The tool assigns a motion effect to each image included in the file. This motion effect is called the "Ken Burns effect" because of its frequent use by the award-winning PBS documentary filmmaker. Photo to Movie offers a number of preset motions, each of which can be customized to achieve specific effects—zooming in to highlight faces, for example. Photo to Movie also lets you choose from a variety of transitions, including cross dissolves, wipes, and even a 3D cube-effect transition. Music and voice narrations can be integrated into slide-show movies, as well as theatrical movie-style titles, credits, and descriptions. Completed slide-show movies can be emailed, published to Web sites, burned to DVD using software such as iDVD, or they can be edited further with movie-editing software such as iMovie.
