The digital port with the RS232 link can be connected to PC to support data communication with remote site. Otherwise you may choose USB port to connect with your PC. Both of them support most popular protocols such as V.110, V.120, X.75, X.25 on D channel, PPP (Point-to-Point Protocol), ML-PPP (Multi-Link PPP), BACP (Bandwidth Allocation Control Protocol) / BOD (Bandwidth On Demand) function. With the ML-PPP, the entire 128k ISDN bandwidth can be used to access the Internet. The BOD function can utilize dynamic bandwidth demand under MLPPP connection. Under ML-PPP data connection, the NT1 ENHANCE will automatically release one B channel for voice communication when the user picks up the phone to make a call and returns to two B channels for ML-PPP when the phone hangs up. With the BACP function, the 128k capacity of ISDN can be utilized fully. The NT1 ENHANCE is equipped

  • Web 2.0 in 2008
  • Applications manufacturers today offer tools that allow companies to reap all of the potential benefits of Web 2.0. Behind most of these initiatives lies a simple yet very promising idea for the corporate world. Without installing “in house” software (that is under the cloud computing format), companies can capitalize on these free on-line services for a series of activities requiring coordination or collaboration. These include organizing meetings, sharing contacts and documents, and creating communities. Furthermore, integration with social networks allows companies to get to know their clients and their preferences better in order to choose the ideal candidates. In this sense, it seems logical to assume that Web 2.0 will undergo a strong new surge due to its commitment to mobility, and specific applications are already coming out on the market. In general, Spanish companies have been slow to jump onto the bandwagon. There are a few exceptions, though. One of the most noteworthy of these is Actibva, the Web 2.0 platform launched by BBVA that is designed to inform users about the evolution of financial markets and foment relationships among parties interested in savings and economic topics from the viewpoint of markets as well as the personal finances. BBVA’s team of specialized journalists selects news according to completely independent criteria and offers its own views in the Actibva blog. As such, users can vote on news items and introduce their own commentaries. Beyond this example, there are a few interesting Web 2.0 initiatives gathering force among younger Spanish companies. • Installing and using the Message Box Knowledge Object for Authorware
  • This document assumes you have a copy of the Message Box KO installer. You can download the Message Box KO from the internet at: http://www.learningconsulting.com. Please contact AEC Consulting directly, for more information. The Message Box KO works with Authorware 5, 6 and 6.5. Please make sure that Authorware is installed and/or available before launching the installer. The installer for the Message Box KO is very simple. The only prompts that you typically need to follow are the “Next” and “Finish” buttons. To install the Message Box KO: 1. Double-click the Message Box KO installer file. 2. In the Welcome screen, click Next to install the KOs shown in Figure 1, below. 3. The Message Box KO installer tries to automatically find the location where Authorware is installed. If it is unable to determine this location, you may receive a prompt similar to Figure 2, to manually locate the Authorware folder. Otherwise, the installer immediately copies the necessary files to appropriate Authorware subfolders, see Figure 3. If the installer copies the Message Box KO files to a location other than the intended Authorware folder (i.e. Authorware is installed in more than one location), contact your vendor for more information. • Users Guide to the GLUT for Markov Chain Monte Carlo Graphical Interface Version 1.0
  • The GLUT for Markov chain Monte Carlo (Gf(MC) 2 ) library provides a system for visual- izing the variables involved in Markov chain Monte Carlo. It is designed to provide a relatively simple user interface that allows the management of multiple windows which provide di®erent views of the variables involved in the simulation. It is written in C/C++. The window manage- ment system uses calls to Mark Kilgaard’s OpenGL Utility Toolkit (GLUT). GLUT is almost platform independent, so the features of Gf(MC) 2 should work in almost the same way across di®erent platforms (e.g., Macintosh, Windows, Linux, etc.). This document describes the features available to the user of an application that draws upon the Gf(MC) 2 library. The table of contents provides a good overview of those features. A separate document will be prepared for developers interested in incorporating the Gf(MC) 2 library into their own software. • TmoleX A Graphical User Interface to the TURBOMOLE Tutorial
  • The Windows version of TmoleX is distributed as a single executable file, called tmoleX.exe. To install TmoleX, simply double-click on tmoleX.exe and follow the installation instructions. After installation, TmoleX is available in your Windows Start Menu or as an icon on your desktop. In order to run TURBOMOLE calculations Perl must be installed on your system. We recommend to install ActivePerl on Windows, which is available for free from http://www.activestate.com/products/activeperl/. Note that you do not have to register, and please make sure that the path to Perl will be added to your global path settings (this is the default, simply do not deactivate it). Please Note : T URBOMOLE 5.9.1 for Windows is included in the TmoleX package. You will not have to install it additional ly. Some features of T URBOMOLE that are based on classical Unix scripts are not yet ported to Windows: 1. Numerical second derivatives (script NumForce) 2. automatic BSSE calculations (program jobbsse) The TURBOMOLE version for Windows includes one generic type of 32-bit executable only, without special optimization for a certain type of CPU. It runs on any processor that is compatible to the Pentium 4 instruction set which supports SSE2. If you want to run TURBOMOLE 'at full speed', we recommend to use the Linux version. • Client-Server Socket Programming Project
  • This project serves as an introduction to client-server programming. You will be expected to implement an abstract protocol called Simple Registration Protocol using simple TCP socket programming. To illustrate the use of the protocol, you will also implement a concrete application: a simple appointment management system. This application will introduce you to the use of LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL and PHP), a free, powerful and commonly-used combination for Web-based applications. The SRP uses a client-server model where multiple client processes request services from a server using request messages. These requests are answered using reply messages. The SRP includes only one mandatory request message (called REQ) and one mandatory reply message (REP). REQ is sent by a client to the server to indicate a specific application-defined service (e.g. reservation, confirmation, information request). The server responds with a REP message, the contents of which is specific to each type of request. The server should check the validity of each request and should not fail if an invalid request is received. The client follows these three steps to make a request: 1. Establishes a TCP connection with the server, 2. Sends the request to the server, and 3. Closes the connection. If the request is valid, the server 1. Opens a TCP connection to the client, 2. Sends the reply, and 3. Closes the connection. Note that the REQ and REP messages are sent in two separate TCP sessions. The client will close the existing REQ TCP session and wait for the server to open a new TCP session for the REP. Download pdf
  • Getting Started with Microsoft Access 2000
  • Microsoft Access is a powerful data-management tool that allows you to input, store, and report data in an attractive and efficient way. Although Access has templates and “wizards” to help you easily set up a database that can suit simple purposes, it can also run extremely advanced functions. This handout is intended to introduce new users to the basic functions of Access. What is a database? Before we start on the construction of a practice database, we should review the basic concepts of database design. It is important to thoroughly plan your database before you begin its construction to guarantee that your database will work correctly. Concepts and Terms Access allows you to create a database of information in which data values are stored in fields. A collection of fields makes a record, and a group of records makes a table. - A database is a collection of related data that is stored in one or more tables. - A table is a collection of related information stored in rows and columns. The power of Access is that it allows you to link data together even if it resides in separate tables. - A field is a column of a table that contains a category of information. - A record is all of the fields for one particular object – such as a person’s last name, first name, and telephone number would comprise a record. - A data value is the smallest unit of information. A key to success with Access is to store data in the smallest
