In many ways Ruby strikes the same chord in me that Perl did a decade or more ago. I show Ruby from a Perl perspective. When I first encountered Perl, I found the language to be a little strange coming from a C background. From time to time I would use Perl to write things I would have written in C or shell, and soon Perl was my tool of choice for many tasks. Ruby is having a similar effect on me. Sometimes I prototype Perl code in Ruby, sometimes I just use Ruby for the sake of seeing if I arrive at a different solution using a di?erent language.
Like Perl, Ruby makes programming fun, but in a different way. Ruby borrows features from many languages, and one of those is Perl. I can simply translate Perl code into Ruby if I want. I will use the Soundex function as an example, as the algorithm is simple and my Perl implementation will reveal something about my abilities as a programmer. The Soundex algorithm is a simple hashing of the letters of a word to a four character code which brings similar sounding words to the same code. In 1994 I posted a routine, shown in code listing 1, to comp.lang.perl which shows both the simplicity of the Soundex algorithm and my Perl style at its worst (or best).

Please read this guide through at least once before fitting. Your first step is to purchase the ‘Citroën/Peugeot Mist Washer Jets’ from the dealership. Part number 6438.V8. They come as a pair for approximately £6.
Step 2. Fiat Windscreen Washer Jet Removal Open the bonnet and remove the following plastic studs to gain access to the underside of the washer jets. I have circled the main ones; you can remove more if required.
Step 3. Remove existing Windscreen Washer Jets Carefully remove the washer pipe tubing from the washer jet nozzle. Then with pliers press both sides of the washer jet and push the washer jet out of the bonnet. Repeat for the next side.
Step 4. Create a Support to hold the new Washer Jet in place Due to the size of the old washer jet the new Citroën washer jet will not fit perfectly into the hole in the Bravo/a and Marea’s bonnet without a support. To create the support I used an empty plastic bottle, I cut out two squares approx 4cm x 5cm from the plastic bottle and carefully with a craft knife I cut a cross in the middle. Going left to right I cut a small slit approx 3mm.

HTML, or "HyperText Mark-Up Language" is what is known as a "tagging" language. It is used to formalise the drafting of a document by means of logical organisational tags. Using these tags, we can provide browsers with basic indications such as "this is a table", "this is a list item", or "this is a level 3 title". In addition to these tags, "class attributes" are indicators used by style sheets to define page's appearance on screen or on paper, such as "block position", "item colour"...
Microformats are a special class of attribute, belonging to a list predefined by a community. They are added to the HTML code tags, playing the dual role of a style presentation and semantic structuring.
Let's take a conventional web page, for example, containing information about a conference. This type of page is intended for a human reader, who will be able to decipher the various information from the presentation (venue, hall, time, speakers...). Without class attributes, html tags simply indicate that such and such a part of the text corresponds to the title or the body of the web page, and do not provide any information on the conference itself. As a result, a robot would not be able to recognise such information. With microformat class attributes, this semantic information can be added to the html tags. Adding microformats to HTML code thus provides a solution to theGetting Started with Microsoft ExcelThis handout introduces the basic features of Microsoft Excel, a spreadsheet program on Macintoshes and on computers running Microsoft Windows. Download pdf Getting Started with Microsoft ExcelIntegrating RDBMS into an LDAP EnvironmentIn this tutorial, we will assume that our organization has a single LDAP directory containing some information about our
users, while a MySQL database is used to contain further information about users that is accessible via a web
interface. For now, we will simply work toward providing a means for LDAP-ready applications to access data within
the MySQL database used by our web application. This is easily achieved using VDS.
Assumptions
1. VDS is installed and configured properly; VDS is currently running.
2. An LDAP directory such as Active Directory is already installed and accessible from the computer on which VDS is installed.
3. A MySQL database server is already installed and accessible from the computer on which VDS is installed.
4. A MySQL database called "test" has been created, and contains a table called "users" with a schema that contains the following items:
`uid` varchar(25) NOT NULL,
`password` varchar(40) NOT NULL,
`Title` varchar(255) default '',
`FirstName` varchar(255) default '',
`LastName` varchar(255) default '',
`Company` varchar(255) default '',
`EmailDisplayName` varchar(255) default '',
`EmailAddress` varchar(255) default ''
5. The MySQL table called "users" is populated with at least one entry.
6. The LDAP directory is accessible on port 389 (default ldap port) and the MySQL server is accessible on port 3306 (default mysql port).
7. Port 3890 is available on the computer in which VDS is installed.

DownloadQuadro™4 XGL Series Performance Guide PDFThis Quadro™4 XGL Series Performance Guide contains essential information to assist you in the review of the Quadro 4 XGL series of professional graphics solutions. Included are important hardware optimizations, review tips, benchmark settings and other miscellaneous “gotchas” found while testing and benchmarking. Here’s a quick list of what we’ll be reviewing: General Benchmark Reminders NVIDIA’s Unified Driver Architecture (UDA) Test with Windows XP Recommended Benchmarking Applications Testing NVIDIA nView Multi-display Technology Sample Benchmark Data While benchmarking, we’ve encountered a number of issues that you should be aware of.
Here is a checklist of the things to look for when your numbers don’t match some of the numbers provided, or when applications will not run: NVIDIA recommends testing at a minimum resolution of 1280×1024 x 32-bit with a refresh rate of 75Hz. NVIDIA-designed the Quadro4 XGL series of graphics solutions to push the state of the art for performance and features. They are designed to drive ultra high resolutions like 1280×1024 and higher. When testing, make sure you test at high resolutions. Always disable V-SYNC. V-sync is controlled separately for different APIs. Disabling V-sync is recommended because all professional workstation applications use double buffering to deliver high-quality images during dynamic graphics. When running benchmarks built on top of these applications, synchronizing swapping display buffers to the monitor vertical retrace can easily prevent the GPU from delivering its true performance. This is likely to be the case as GPUs become increasingly more powerful.
